hager live on the scene right now with a closer look at how this all unfolded. >> reporter: well david, this isunnerving to say the least for neighbors some coming home right now to find the streets are blocked off in the area around mount bowdoin where this happened even though it's been hours since the shots were fired. the sound of gunshots is not something you shake easily it rattled elaine. >> at first i thought it was firecrackers and i heard two more shots and got up and looked out and seen police going back and forth. >> reporter: those shots followed by a foot chase through the neighborhood behind gary bell's home. >> i heard the police creaming police and telling him to stop but kept on running. >> reporter: in a section of geneva corners residents say has been safe in recent years, except for some problems on mount bowdoin terrace where the

against him since 2005. the i-team lauren leamanczyk is live with more on what we found here lauren. >> reporter: grant headley spent a lot of time here in the district court and we found a lot of cases involving the 27- year-old career criminal. it starts in 2005 with headley's first adult arrest charged with careying a firearm without a license. over the next decade he would find himself charged with crimes 10 times. while at least one of those was business missed others including drug possession attempt to distribute and assault and battery and several times where he illegally poe tested a -- possessed a firearm. in 2008 the court labeled him a armed career criminal and in 2009 he finds himself facing prison time again for drugs and guns.

that case, he served a five- year sentence. he was back on the street in april and as you heard the police commissioner say earlier today, boston police believe he was right back to his old ways involving himself in drugs and guns and leading him to today's situation. live in dorchester lauren laman check now back to you. >> thank you. once the call came in of shots fired and an officer down hear things just sort of escalated quickly. >> the entire incident you will hear it now as it is happening on police dispatch scanners. take a listen. >> shots fired at bowdoin terrace. going to be a officer shot mount bowdoin terrace. >> [audio not understandable] >> what's the cross street. >> i am at 33 mount bowdoin

and that suspect has now been identified as mario roman. and he was in court just about an hour ago facing charges of not road rage but attempted murder. police say yesterday evening, near the south shore plaza, roman took his road rage out and took it over the top when he dragged another driver out of his car and stabbed him five times leaving him on the side of the road in front of the barnes and noble. several witnesses gave police a description of the car and partial license plates. it didn't take long for braintree police to find roman at his proper's home -- brother's home in somerset and he was arraigned an hour and half ago. and the victim was stabbed ace said earlier, that victim was stabbed not once or -- once or twice but he was stabbed 5 times and he had surgery just an hour and a half ago still in

that's fudge down the east coast. we call that -- funelling down the east coast and that's cold air damming. we have 30 to 40 degrees here and down the coastline colder air sinks down along the leading edge of the appalachian mountainrange and goes into the southeast. so in roanoke it's just as cold as in boston at 39 degrees and then the warmer sector is around parts of the ohio valley. eventually the warm air will move towards us this weekend. tonight looking at temperatures just above freezing for the coastline and southeastern massachusetts in the interior and very close to freezing. and so that's why we have an expectation for a few areas of freeing drizzle. you notice the speckled areas on a eastern wind off the atlantic enough moisture to cause icy spots. so perhaps some dpw crews will treat the roads if you are traveling use abundance of caution. tomorrow looks like today a lot of clouds and shower activity increasing heading into tomorrow evening and pretty cool temperatures. so looking at the overall
