most damage of the home is. and unfortunately that's where the fire chief says they he found that victim. this morning. details are few but the chief does say that they arrive to this home and found very heavy fire and smoke billowing from the hammond street home. we know there was only one person inside the home and the the fire. fire chief says they did make it up to the second floor of the home but unfortunately the flames and the smoke were so fierce they had to push back. and again, one person found dead inside of the home taking yet another live look you can see crews are here on the scene. we are told the fire har hal-- marshal is in route as they continue the investigation this morning. passed away. back to you guys. >> thanks very much. new this morning, police in saugus.

side of the route 107 near the lynn line. this was a one-car crash. reports from the scene say one person was ejected. no word on the person's condition or what caused the crash. 6:05 right now a boston police officer is home from the hospital while the drug suspect accused of shooting him is expected in court this morning. chantee lans is live in dorchester with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. new dedetails are expected to come out of court as a boston police officer continues to recover from his injuries. 27-year-old grant headley of dore chester is expected to face a judge monday. >> i am at 33 mount bowdoin tearis shot. >> reporter: 6 shots were fired at police. officer kurt stokinger was shot in the leg and released from boston medical center on sunday. this as new details emerge in the case.

the governmenton -- boston globe the gun used by headley may have jammed. he was out on probation at the time of the shooting. the boston globe saying his case has been assigned to the suffolk district attorney senior trial unit where they handle homicide serious violent crimes and other complex cases. boston police expect the officer to make a full recovery. reporting live chantee lans. police are investigating the city's he first homicide of the year. a man was shot early sunday east boston. the victim's identity has not been released but anyone with police. the man accused of murdering the little girl known as baby bella will face a judge today. michael mccarthy entered a plea of not guilty. he is the boyfriend of the girl's mother. bella bond's body washed-up on

>> rocking the diaper. >> i am going keep going you guys the warm temperatures did help right? we were 58 in boston yesterday. both broke records. we had record warmth across southern new england and today there's a change in the air. it's 35 in boston right now. keene. 29 in worcester. 40 in chatham and it doesn't seem that bad but it's the wind and cool are air coming in. so temperatures are not going to be going up this afternoon. and the current wind gusts are hour. air. real feel is 25 in boston and only 15 for wind chill in worcester. skies are partly d-- partially clearing and we will see sunshine mixed in today with the clouds. we have got snow showers continuing to our north off lake-effect snow bands off lake ontario and erie and measuring the day iston. -- done many you are doing so in parts of wherein new york. york.

so we start dry and sunshine midday it starts to look like snow. the sky. the clouds are going to thicken during the afternoon rain and snow showers develop. and during the mid to late afternoon and continue at times through the evening. we are going to change that rain over to snow even at the commute for most of us. that will continue during the first period of the overnight. this is a fast moving system. by wednesday morning, the snow is done. it's going to be quite windy behind this storm wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour on wednesday afternoon too and colder air comes in. so, there may be a flurry or two in the air. but overall it's the chill we part of the week. for most of us. put the one to three here 495 points north and west and there may be a couple amounts topping out at 2 perhaps 3 inches we may have to trim this back a little bit. so, the point being here, that it's not a major event. but may slicken the roadways heading into tomorrow evening

wind gusts foreforecast for today stays strong through the afternoon. even through 3 p.m. notice gusting still over 30 miles per hour. and that wind will subside as we head through the evening. and overnight tonight. afternoon temperatures today, only in the low to mid-30s. it will feel like it's in the teens and 20s later on today. so bundle up. tonight we drop back into the teens. and 20s. and tomorrow will be around over 40 from plymouth to tawpton and alock the -- taunton and along the south coast and cape. north and west it's going to be colder tomorrow. any rain and snow showers that develop we are talking about mainly rain at the coast and changing over to snow. accu-weather 7-day much colder but a quiet end to the week and we are watching a potential storm this weekend. it doesn't look like a major storm right now. maybe some rain at the coast mixed with snow across the interior. by the way pamela gardner has a awesome visit with cottage street school 3rd and 4th graders on friday in sharon. values are honesty, team work

critical condition at last check. and was in the water for several minutes. a weymouth woman is accused of crashing her car head on into a police cruiser. officers charged 25-year-old kaylin kaiser with drunk driving following the accident on main street. three people including the officer were taken to the hospital. injuries are not life threat gleaningmbta officials-- shall. mbta officials will meet today. for years the t wanted to extend trolley servicen somerville and medford but cost estimates -- for the project have gone up over 3 billion dollars. officials must decide whether to scale back the project or scrap it entirely. the t is taking a hard look at its overtime bill. after dirk out 75 million dollars -- dishing out 75 million dollars in ot last year the boston globe has had well publicized delivery issues.

they have been all morning and it's 29 in worcester and 27 in keene and lower 30s in lawrence 35 to 40 when you get from taunton back down to chat ham sitting at 40 degrees right now and the wind is quite strong out there between 20 and 40- mile-per-hour gusts. right now, that will continue right on through the afternoon. so that adds a bite to the air. real feel is 25 in boston and it's 15 in worcester so that's what you want to dress for real feel temperatures running in the the teens and 20s. satellite and radar shows clouds departing. still leftover here from the south shore to the cape. a flurry or two but we get sunshine it's a blustery feel. rise coming up over 45 minutes from now. 7:1 under that much cold wear real feel in the 20s through the lunch hour that wind stays strong but slowly subsides a bit as we head into your evening drive. sunset at 4:32 and temperatures right around 30 degrees. i am tracking a clipper fast moving storm little bit of snow on the way for tomorrow.

>> reporter: good morning to youkatherine did the-- kathryn. the fire is out and fire crews are here but the second floor of the home you can see that is the most extensive damage and that is where firefighters say they found that victim upstairs passed away from the fire i want to get you to video from just a few hours ago. the call came in shortly after 3 this morning just before 4 they say. and had they arrived they say there was heavy fire and smoke coming from the building. they did try to go up the second floor. but they say they were pushed back because of the intense flames and smoke. taking another live look here hammond street home one person has passed away. fire chief is not commenting on a cause of this fire at this point or identifying the victim but certainly they say the cause is under investigation. the fire marshal is set to arrive here on the scene as

continues and they try to determine exactly what caused the fire. for now live in gloucester nicole jacobs wbz this morning. >> thank you very much for the update. it's 6:35. this morning a boston police officer is waking up at home and the drug suspect accused of shooting him is getting ready to face a judge. chantee lans is live with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning chris. new details are expected to come out in court today. this as the boston police officer continues to recover from his injuries. officer kurt stokinger was shot in his leg friday morning and released from boston medical center on sunday. the shooting suspect is 27-year- old grant headley of dorchester. according to the boston globe the handgun used by headley may have jammed he's convicted felon and known drug dealer to police. police say he was out on probation when that shooting happened.

dorchester district court chantee lans, wbz news this morning. taking aim at the opioid abuse crisis here in massachusetts. house speaker robert deleo is planning legislation limiting first time pain killing prescriptions to 7 days. the bill would also set an evaluation requirement for emergency rooms. governor baker and senate versions. state police say they investigated 755 suspected opioid overdoses in 2015. an arrest in a deadly hit- and-run in malden. 71-year-old victim was hit on pleasant street on december 27th. police have still not identified the driver but that person will be in court today. another driver expected in court accused of a deadly hit- and-run in worcester. vincent green of west boylston charged with motorcycle homicide -- motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene. green plowed into a 57 year -- 56-year-old man and the victim died at the hospital.

get underway on the mgm resort casino in springfield. tomorrow crews will start to demolish a long vacant elementary school at the site. that school was badly damaged what tornado tore through springfield in 2011. the property will become the casino's parking garage and mgm hopes to on the buildion dollar complex in late 2018. this after the casino announced plans to scale back construction plans. new twists in the bizarre saga the drug kingpin joaquin el chapo guzman he has been returned to the same mexican priss-tunneled out of six months ago. he will extradited to the united states in the next 4 to 6 weeks. mexican security forces tracked down guzman because of a meeting he had with sean penn. he apparently wanted to make a film about himself and he gave penn an interview published by rolling stone magazine. right now italian police are looking for a suspect in an american woman's death.

ashley olsen was found dead in her apartment in florence saturday. her boyfriend and landlord found her body. they hadn't heard from her in days. italian media reports ashley was found strangled but authorities say they are waiting for the results of an autopsy before commenting. happening today, with a month to go before the primary donald trump will stump for votes in new hampshire. republican poll leader has a scheduled stomp this morning at 11 in wyndham. and chelsea clinton will be in boston today. daughter of hillary clinton will deliver the closing remarks at the american liberty association's meeting at the boston convention center. the latest polls show a tightening democratic race n iowa hillary clinton is hanging onto a small lead over bernie sanders at 48% to 45%. but in new hampshire clinton trails sanders 46 to 50%. clinton downplayed the numbers. >> polls go up and go down. i stay pretty focused as i

that's coming in leftover clouds south of boston to the cape. and a couple flurries here through the berkshires. and we have had lake-effect snow bands coming off lake erie and ontario. and we don't have to worry about those today. central and northern new england particularly vermont will see some. for us a blend of sun and clouds and blustery feel. tomorrow we start with sunshine. wind won't be as strong tomorrow but what we are going to keep an eye on is the fast moving clipper system. it will approach during the day tomorrow but with it comes rain and snow showers developing mid to late afternoon. it's going ramp up during the evening but for most of us it will happen after the evening rush hour tomorrow. can't rule out a couple slick spots towards the tail end of the commute. by 10 p.m. rain at the coast snow inland and we change over to snow briefly here as colder air wraps in wednesday morning it's gone and it's fast moving storm and turns windy behind this on wednesday.
