first floor. a father and son live here and when fire crews arrived that son we don't know his age was trapped on the first floor. his father an elderly man was outside telling crews they had to get his son inside that son the father both taken to the hospital. the elderly man will be okay. and the son however was in very serious condition. >> very difficult building to fight the fire in and seems like the elderly january was hoarding everything and it's difficult trying to get around and concerns around dental office if there's any gases or any flamables inside so we are carefully. >> reporter: so right now, the fire commissioner giving yet another update. we can tell you that one firefighter just recently was transported to the hospital for what i am told is an orthopedic injury and appeared to be okay and he was alert conscious and laughing on the gurnee as he

southeastern parts of the state. we have got temperatures above 40 degrees. as we head into the evening, that snow will fill in and so the big concern is always snow squalls when you have heavy snow it doesn't last for too long and the sun is down and everyone is out on the road. temperatures are falling back bebee low freezing creating icy -- below freezing creating icy conditions and a few areas of snow overnight before we dry out into the morning. snow totals it's. >> the huge event. but one to two inches maybe a few local totals up to 3 higher elevations of worcester county. all about timing and a lot of cold hyped it. we will look at that forecast coming up in a bit. >> we will see thank you. the man charged with shooting a boston police officer is now being held on 1 1/2 million dollars bail. boston police filled the courtroom today as prosecutors read out the charges against grant headley. the prosecutors say officers had seen headley dealing cocaine and were trying to stop him when he opened fire hitting officer kurt stokinger in the leg.

at day care. >> he smelled something burning and then helped discover a carbon monoxide leak. bill shields is live with the story in medway. bill. >> reporter: probably you -- it's good thing firefighters and paramedics are trained in hazardous materials because this firefighter was dropping off his kids at local church and walked in and smelled something that smelled unusual. well that led to the discovery of carbon monoxide. >> it was not just my children you know. the safety of all the children was important so, we evacuated right away. >> reporter: lieutenant matt anzivino has been a fear fighting since 2001 and his training may have saved ten livesests dropped off his two daughters at the church this morning for a before school unusual. further and seemed to be throughout the building and so i asked the school director and her teacher to get the children out of the building so we could department.

firefighters arrived, they powered up the small chemical detector. they found the basement filled with carbon monoxide. 600 parts per million. >> it's not something would be immediately cause death but exposure in as little as an hourat that level could cause very serious issues and that's in an adult. in a child it would be worse. >> reporter: cash on monoxide is odorless but the firefighter knew the smell inside the church was not right and got everyone out. >> sometimes you smell things and think nothing of it but right. so, it was lucky i was dropping off today. >> reporter: as it turns out there back a probable -- there was a problem with the boiler and it has been fixed but fire fighters will go back and check the building because a boy scout troop is having a meter there -- did meeting there tonight. bill shield wbd news. paula nine credible. thanks. -- paula.

that will last and produce low visibility and hazardous travel tomorrow night. biggest snow across maine so if you are thinking of a ski trip that's where the freshest powder will be as it deepens off the coastline. cold in place for the snow and we have made that happen and it's 33 degrees colder right now in worcester than at this time last night. 30 degrees colder in taunton and big change of air mass. it's 19 at pittsburgh and 7 in green bay and cleveland at 15 and it's a much more wintry map and mid-january map and wind are starting to die down slowly here and now the gusts 25 miles per hour or lower. we are seeing fewer as the windy minimum ishes and temperatures fall back to the teens a very cold start to the day on tuesday. and the cold irair producing lake-effect streamers. ontario and erie our weather maker is right in here. you notice a hint of a swirl and the snow moving towards chicago. that will move quickly eastbound and bring us some of the squalls tomorrow. so no issues in the morning except for the cold that will be in place and we will have sunshine to start out.

wind picks up again and tomorrow's wind out of the south southeast and then after 2, that's when we see the showers. now i think to start with, we will see rain in southeastern parts of the state. cape island south coast and south shore too warm for snowfall. but the squalls moving in are going to create very low visibility and hazardous issues and it's not a lot of snowfall but these are types of situation that is can cause accidents on the road because you don't see them coming quickly and then all of a sudden you are in a low visibility situation. night. areas of know forming as thesnow races to the north and east and we will be dry wednesday morning. snow totals a coating to an inch south of boston. wet flakes late across the cape. 1 to 3 inches here worcester and much of northern worcester county and southeastern new hampshire and that's where we could have our biggest issues the northern half of 495 themerrimack valley and southern new hampshire is where we will see the biggest impact. on the low side by 4 p.m.

evening and overnight because temperatures will be falling. 40 degrees. freezing. will freeze up. behind that a lot of wind and a lot of cold for wednesday and it's the most uncomfortable day of the week. things start to relax a little bit on thursday but cold and then we are tracking our next storm system for the weekend. right now, it's long way out. so the rain snow line is uncertain but we expect a coastal low on saturday. and this could make things sloppy for the patriots game depending on how things exactly time out. it may wind down before the game. but it's the next storm to watch. here's the accu-weather 7-day snow squalls tomorrow and cold witness and thursday and comfortable friday. and then watching a rain and snow mix to start the weekend and i think that could be interesting there in foxborough we will see how things change over the next few days. >> very, very interesting eric. but of course these weeks can only get interesting. >> that's right. >> as we move forward after the year we have had.
