this is wbz this morning. good morning it is 6:00 right now we're so happy to have you with us i'm catherine hauser. tuesday january 12th danielle is in with a look at the snow heading our way. a quiet start this morning all about the timing snow already advancing into portions of western pennsylvania and new york extending into cleveland ohio and all moving west to east it is a clipper system that will impact us by later today until then it is a cold start we're in the teens some wind chills are in the single digits, it is 22 in boston, so not as cold in terms of the temperatures, in a lot of spots some of the suburbs we're about 15 to 25 degrees colder than yesterday a few scattered clouds around enjoy the sunshine at 7:12 because the clouds will increase after that, notice by early to mid-afternoon skies are mostly cloudy overcast with rain and snow showers moving in during the evening commute

first snow colder north and west of town, anywhere right around or just below freezing we'll see slippery roadways result mixed with rain when you get back down to the south shore changing over the wet snowflakes as it comes in through midnight. fast moving storm really just wet flakes along the south coast, there may be some amounts to top out near 2, potentially 3 inches when you get across the worcester hills. let's get you on the road traffic and weather together. that situation in burlington, 128 northbound only the break down lane gets by. a head on collision over night caused by a wrong way driver according to state police, stop and go backup not terrible but it is back to route 4 and 225 about a quarter of a mile. a lot of drivers may have avoided the area after hearing about the crash also 93

we have another accident south of the city south in braintree, 128 southbound just after route 37, 2 cars are involved down there the bumper to bumper backup is the logan express at columbia road that looks like about a 10 minute delay. >> following breaking news this morning out of turkey, officials say at least 10 people were killed during an explosion at a popular tourist spot 15 others were hurt this happened in a historic district. state run television says the blast was likely caused by a suicide bomber but so far authorities have not said what caused it police have sealed off the area and urging people to stay away. developing this morning a teenager hit by a stray bullet in his own kitchen police are searching for the person who fired those shots. nicole jacobs is live with reaction from a witness this morning, good morning nicole.

where we did have rain it is going to freeze on some of the roads just keep that in mind, expected snowfall totals obviously not a major event however with the timing there may be some heavier amounts of 2, 3 inches in the areas in blue north and west of boston, a coating of an inch, maybe under that right in the city of boston as more coating with just wet flakes when you get back down along the south coast temperatures into the upper 30s that's why at first, especially in the city it may not stick. north and west of boston with temperatures right around freezing for your evening commute there will be slippery travel and reduced visibility tonight we drop back into the 20s even back down into the cape so where we did have rain ending as wet snowflakes it is going to be flakes anything untreated we'll have icy patches tomorrow morning highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s tomorrow the sun is going to be shining but it is going to be really windy tomorrow,

litany of spin from the president about how wonderful all initiatives have been and how much more wonderful they'd be if they hadn't been impeded at every turn by the evil swine who oppose him. sometimes the president will use the speech to appeal for unity or try to put lipstick on their own partisanship, to me it sounds hollow. no one in washington it seems ever has the nerve to say i blew it. the speech's title is especially iconic given the disunity it exposes, especially in the era of multiple camera angles within the house chamber. the president's partisan supporters bounce up and down like yo-yos applauding his bromides. applauding only out of sarcasm or when motherhood and apple pie are in vogue. tonight will be more of the

happened at a historic district, the last was likely caused by a suicide bomber but so far authorities have not said what caused it. police have sealed off the area and urging people to stay away. we're following a developing story in brockton, a teenager hit by a stray bullet in his kitchen police are still searching for that shooter, nicole jacobs is live in brockton with the details. good morning to you, no suspects have been arrested or named at this point but bullets were flying all over the place hitting that 17-year-old as he stood in his kitchen. i want to get you right to video from the scene last night this all happened around 8:00 last night that teenage boy was standing in his own home when he was shot below his shoulder blade the good news he is expected to be okay. one neighbor reported hearing 7 or 8 gunshots walked outside to find his vehicles damaged.

through hour by hour between now and midday we're doing all right now the clouds will increase and start to kind of look and feel a little bit like snow as we head throughout the early afternoon, 3 p.m. there may be a stray snow shower really late afternoon and the evening commute we see bursts of snow between west and east from the brookshire into western county into the city of boston for the evening drive. notice it will be mixed with rain along the south coast down to the cape, snowflakes as colder air rushes in. i do anticipate north and west of boston, this is not a light shading on the map talking about bursts to moderate heavy bands of snow whipping through pretty quickly here between 8 to 10 p.m. as well. after that, there may be a lingering snow shower around after midnight even where we do get some rain along the south coast ending as wet flakes all dropping back into the 20s

situation, 128 near the burlington lexington line state police were saying they were hoping to get additional lanes open now looks like they have and we're hoping in that next hour or so looks like 2 or 3 lanes getting by, 128 before route 3-a which was an over night wrong way collision on 128 northbound state police say two people were critically injured let's cut to the ground shot here you can see the reconstruction unit of police on scene that's why those lanes are closed but whereas only the break down lane was getting by, 2 lanes are getting by just within the last couple of minutes the bumper to bumper backup of route 2-a that's about a 15 minute delay also slow downs on the south side in the area of the burlington lexington line as they are slowing down to look at the scene. good news here we have a couple tow trucks on scene hopefully to get vehicles out of the way
