on the storm a live look at the city of boston, blue skies hanging on out there. change. some messy weather is on its way, which will make a tough evening commute. good afternoon thanks for being with us. we are bracing for a touch of winter tonight with the snow on its way, danielle is tracking the storm, joins us with the very latest hour by hour. it is all about the latest hour by hour that's going to make a difference at bursts of snow are coming in through central new york and a couple flurries and snow showers through western new england. it is a quick shot of snow as it is a fast moving disturbance between 4 and 10 p.m. as the snow pushes in from west to east. this will create hazardous travel, all about timing right in time for the evening commute many snow covered roads, especially north and west of boston with temperatures a little bit colder even by just a couple degrees. accumulation this is not a

inches in spots the jackpot for this event will be across maine where 6 to 12 inches will be in place by the time we get into tomorrow. hour by hour the clouds over increase and thicken. it will start to look like snow out there temperatures rising into the mid-30s for a lot of coastline. bursts of snow arrive into worcester county first, right around 4:00 and spread east by the time we get to 7 p.m. i'd say especially towards the tail end of the evening drive notice the temperatures right around 32 degrees particularly north and west of boston where some slippery roads and the accumulation will start comes down hard enough too we get deep blues in here which indicates moderate to heavy bursts of snow all wrap up as we head into the over night expected snow 1 to 3 inches of blue, with wet flakes on the cape. we'll have more in just a couple minutes. good time to remind our viewers that you can track this

i'm very happy. this guy should be out from the city. while the robber eventually made off with $200 the owner's knife, the owner put up a good fight and tells us he hasn't felt the same at work since. >> this isn't the first time this store clerk or this store point. the same thing happened about 2 and a half years ago in that case police were also able to make a quick arrest. susie, wbz news. now at noon a teen hospitalized after being shot while standing in his own kitchen. police say he was just an innocent bystander. nicole jacobs is live with more on what happened. chris that 17-year-old is going to be okay in fact he posted some to social media since the shooting but he was minding his own business in his own home in his kitchen when he was shot by this stray bullet

today women's and hospitals are warning about a security breach that could affect information. hackers broke into an e-mail account and gained access to thousand patient's names, dates of birth and medical information, says hackers didn't get health insurance numbers or financial information so far there is no evidence that the information has been misused. a father on his way to work takes quick action and ends up saving lives. matt is a firefighter, but when he drops his two kids off at preschool he smelled something unusual. he called the department and got everybody out fire crews found the basement full of carbon monoxide. >> i smelled the odor and new something wasn't right. i investigated a little further and seems to be all throughout the building i asked the school director and her teacher to get the children out of the building.

been fixed. time to turn our attention to the weather today, it's been a nice start out there. amazing how a day could change because the sun has been shining a cold start now the clouds are already starting to move in, it is going to change pretty quickly here, be prepped for a slick evening commute in spots a live look at the city of boston where we're seeing just some of those high thin cirrus clouds, these are going to thicken pretty quickly over the next couple of hours, going to start to look like snow out there. here is a look at the radar. current radar, there are some radar echoes showing up here in southern new england, but a lot of this is not making it down to the ground just yet, the air is just too dry. when the precipitation falls but doesn't make it to the ground we caught it virga. we're seeing some of that herback to broomfield, as the

saturated we will see these bursts of snow mixed rain start to move in through mid to late afternoon. etc. -- especially through the evening hours after starting through the teens many spots were in the teens worcester to keen to the cape. hour by hour in the city of boston, rise by a few more degrees the clouds thicken and snow mixed with rain arrive around 6 p.m. give or take just a little bit of time. i'd say the second half of the evening commute will start to see some of the road conditions deteriorate, particularly north and west of boston. a fast moving clipper system comes through pretty quickly, with that comes these locally heavy bursts of snow. look at snow showers, a little bit of rain along the south coast as the precipitation comes down harder tends to drag

moderate bursts of snow, make a brief break in the action rain drops mix in back down to the cape as colder air comes in between 8 to 10 p.m. we'll change back over to snowflakes after midnight, a couple left over snow showers that will push through from west to east, should be out of here by the time we get to the pre-dawn tomorrow. skies will clear it will be about the wind after that. expected snowfall wet flakes along the south coast right around an inch in the city of boston maybe shy of that we drag down the 1 to 3 in through interior, as we get some of those heavier bursts of snow. anytime over night, look at the temperatures fall into the 20s anything that's untreated going to be a little bit slick with icy patches tomorrow morning and the sun is back right around 30 but it is all about the wind which will gust between 25 and 45 miles per
