>> good morning it's 4:30. thanks for being here with us i am kathryn hauser. >> i am chris mckinnon. many communities are waking up to snow. here's what it was hike in worcester where the flakes started to fall during the evening commute. numerous accidents and pinouts reported in the city and today, we are dealing with the aftermath of brutal cold. >> amazing how a coding can make a difference on the road. >> absolutely. >> the main roads i don't know about we are fine. it's the secondary roads and sidewalks and driveways that are going to be slick this morning as you head out. and it's about the wind now. we have a wind advisory for all of southern new england in effect until 5 p.m. for westerly wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour at times today. this morning we are gusting worcester to taunton. a who the of gusts over 20 miles per hour and that's creating real feel running in the single digits and teens right now. it's not going anywhere.

patriots will eye the iffy forecast for the playoff game again the chiefs. >> we are learning defensive end chandler jones was taken to the hospital following a medical emergency. patriots tell us he was hospitalized on sunday and released the sam day. there are no details -- same day. there are no details yes was in the hospital or what he was treated for. this is video of him practicing on monday. he reported to work on time that day and has participated in all meetings and practices since then. meanwhile coach belichick was sporting a black eye under the hoodie at practice. it's unclear how it happened, but he said he will live. tom brady seemed to be jogging okay at practice as he continues to deal with the sprained right ankle. the pats qb says everyone is aware of what's at stake on saturday night. >> the ramifications to a loss. so, you don't have next week to get it right. so we work hard to get to this point and we are going to have our best week because it's

we are told the firefighter suffered minor burns. 7 people are out of their homes. investigators are searching for the cause. and police are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian and a driver. right here near the statehouse. the driver apparently hit the pedestrian and a number of cars near beacon street and both men were taken to the hospital. one with serious injuries. also a deadly accident to tell you about in roslyndale a 88 -year-old woman was hit and killed on washington street. the driver stopped and is not facing charges. today massachusetts could move one step closer to legalizing marijuana for recreational use. a joint committee of the state legislature will debate a measure today that would make the state regulate marijuana the same way it does alcohol. supporters say it would free a police to investigate more serious crimes. opponents fear marijuana could lead to harder drug use. tonight's record power ball jackpot is growing and now up

yesterday we talked about snow. >> yep. >> today winter continues and it's cold. >> a lot of the main roads were salted and clear and free and clear and that's good news for the morning commute. >> they were in good shape it's the secondary roads the sidewalks and driveways that will be slick this morning. so just take it slow. weather watchers checking in with totals too. with the snow totals 3.3 inchesand under 3 same in foxboro at 2 1/2 and framingham under 2 inches. in general, it was a coating to as much as 3 inches in spots. the last of the snow is pushing out now. we had thunderstorms and hail reported in the cape last evening. so it was wild and it's all about the wind. the wind is gusting between 20 and 35 miles per hour right now even a little higher. chatham current gusts 37 miles per hour. so the wind will continue to remain active that's adding the bite to the air. real feel is sitting at 4 degrees in the city of worcester and 12 in boston and

show what it will do during the day today. doesn't go anywhere. we are staying in the teens and single digits in terms of the wind chill. that's what you want to dress forch wind may gust as high as 45 -- for. winds may gust as high as 45 miles per hour. there may be a couple isolated pockets of outages or damages that occur. i don't think it will be widespread but there may be a couple spots. 8 p.m. tonight wind chills in the single digits. now there may be some slick spots like i mentioned some of the secondary roads things like that because we have dipped below the freezing mark. most of us are in the 20s. it's 19 in worcester but a little perspective it could be worse. we are in the single digits and teens and below zero when you come back up into eastern canada. we are never going to get into that cold air. temperatures will come up around 30 today all that snow pushing away but in central and eastern main still areas of moderate to heavy snow ongoing across main this morning. that will come to an end by the afternoon. for us, it's a blend of sunshine and a couple clouds. tomorrow, there may be a few flurries in the morning and

little boundary over us. so tomorrow, morning clouds and give way to sunshine and it won't be nearly as windy but it will be chilly. temperatures around or over 30. by friday, we start with sunshine and the clouds increase. those clouds come out ahead of what we are watching for the weekend. there's going to be moisture and energy coming together. the question is, how quickly does it do so? on saturday, the rain snow line is a little uncertain. right now it looks like southeastern massachusetts will deal with rain but there may be snow mix aid cross the interior. the time frame of this looks to be on saturday morning to afternoon. by the evening, it would be wrapping up and by sunday it's long gone and the sun will be back out. so lots to watch as we head into the saturday time frame. today's highs around shy of 30 don't forget wind chill is in the teens and tonight we drop back into the teens. the winds subside a bit accu- weather seven day less wind tomorrow.

it is 4:53. lawyers for bill cosby will be in a massachusetts courtroom this morning. they are asking a judge to seal records related to a civil defamation lawsuit filed by 7 women who say cosby sexually assaulted them decades ago. his lawyers say the plaintiffs sought invasive and intimate details about the actor's medical and sexual hist theory. lawyers -- history. lawyers for the victims say the public has the right to see the documents. he is not expected in court for the hearing. local woman who went to the hospital for an overdose may have died because of the medicine she was given. 44-year-old gretchen fordham crabbed her car on 495 in merrimack saturday night. police charged her with operating under the influence of drugs but sent her to anna jaquess hospital first she was

workers treated her broken wrist and sent her with a prescription for oxycodone an opiate. called 911. please somebody. okay. >> i believe he began cpr and to no avail you note victim was transported to the hospitalwhere she was pronounced dead. the police chief says investigators have not determined the cause of the death but her friends say no doctor should have given her an opiate prescription. this morning the ethics commission is look into a state senator's dirty laundry and literally according to the boston globe senator brian joyce has been getting free dry cleaning since 1977 and bringing his clothes and his family's he clothes and somes hi aides clothes to wood lawn cleaners and provide the owner with free or reduced price legal services.
