the real feel in the 20s with the winds not a big factor for brady but a factor obviously if you'll be out here standing for hours, chris i have to say the tarp on the field, it is pouring out i am very tempted to do a little slip and slide action on this. >> i'm saying don't do this, they are watching and you won't even hit the tarp and you'll be out of here, maybe later before i go. obviously weather a variable today crowd a variable also talking about the injury list this morning and that is the big question. the questionable players this morning we're talking about gronk, julian edleman, and rob and of course gronk, he participated in the walk through, all though he is officially listed as questionable for this afternoon game and his status is really a true question also listed questionable is high tower, who says last yore's run to the

team out this year as they play another play off push. >> the experience definitely helps but makes a different year and a different team again we've had a pretty good week of practice and guys are watching and all that other stuff, going to have to come down to saturday. also questionable for today's game is chandler jones of course we all know what kind of happened to him last weekend there was all that drama surrounding his trip to the hospital but that's really not stopping the team as they move forward even though we still don't know all the details from last weekend so chandler jones again he is one of the questionable ones this happened what caused chandler to go to the police station with no shoes no shirt on acting disoriented don't expect
6:06 am
we also want to talk about a cool story here this morning a local man celebrating a really cool thing, he got a free ticket but in order to get it he actually had to pass the boyfriend test, jim armstrong has this story for us this morning, take a look. >> i do get the feeling i was part of something very special tonight, pretty strange but special just the same. >> francesca loves her job and until recently she loved her boyfriend too. >> i didn't post the add, ad. these dudes were plenty brave enough to post this ad announcing the newly single francesca had a real ticket to the pats game they posted her cell phone and probably don't need to be told what happened next.

explosion, and another one shortly thereafter. kind of spontaneous, and another, boom! >> rescue teams found an empty life raft and debris two and a half miles off the north shore. >> we've seen debris consistent with a military aircraft. been in various shapes and sizes. the ch53s are the marine's biggest and strongest helicopters made for transport. waves up to 40 feet high arecomplicating the search. moving debris makes finding things incredibly difficult. >> the department of defense has not officially confirmed the names of those involved so we are not using the name or photo of the marine from hingham. the military is still investigating the cause of the accident in hingham. wbz this morning. we are following breaking news over night the government says a hotel siege is over troops from the west african

hometown crowd is going to be great for brady and pats but the weather could be a little bit of variable today we're hoping that this rain kind of lets in. let's bring in danielle niles who is kind of tracking this a lull randomly. >> been pouring all morning the rain will be done by kickoff, if the game were earlier today, let's say we had a morning soggy. this is a fast-hitting storm. it is chilly, this time of the year could be a whole lot worse, we're in the 30s right now. let's bring you to the game day forecast if you're planning to come here to gilette temperatures will be running in the 30s as we head towards kickoff. guess what we're in the 30s right now. there is not a whole lot of change in the temperature what will be going on at kickoff is we'll be drying out the steadiest rain over us right now wraps up between late morning and midday, we may
6:30 am
mar partial clearing, the kicking game, 10 to 15 miles per hour. if you are out here at gilette it will feel like the 20s by the end of the game. pamela has been in studio, i took my husband's gloves can you see the pats logos here on it? i'm all decked out. >> i see it. that's fantastic. can't only wear the jersey you have to have the coat and the layers if you are heading to the game and even the hand warmers. thankfully danielle all of that rain moves out. a live look at radar. we have the steadiest showers over foxboro moving towards the boston area where we're getting icing in the pink spots here into worcester, orange, worcester, we have freezing rain leading to a light glaze of ice, concord, manchester concerned about light freezing rain as well. boston getting the heavy rain, those temperatures just above freezing in our locations here

east this nor'easter continues to the northeast and once we get into northern parts of new england that's where we expect most of the snow to be winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. until noon for us in massachusetts and looks like mainry rain from boston to the brookshire. as we go through this morning 11 a.m. starting to see things lighten up in foxboro, lingering showers in boston the last little bit of rain moves out prior to kickoff. couldn't have timed it any better. let's go back out to gilette stadium. hopefully you stay dry in the next several hours. i wish you would have told me to bring out the hand warmers, but that's all right. it's okay. thank you very much pamela. we are talking about another variable here obviously the weather looks like it is going to shape up to be okay, but rob

officially for today's afternoon game against the chiefs though he did participate in the walk through yesterday which was fantastic news for them of course so as for the opponent, the chiefs well back on october 18th they lost to the minnesota vikings to drop to just 1 and 5 on the season but they are coming off 11 wins straight including a dominant 30-0 win over the texans in houston, despite their success. coach belichick says they get the same treatment for about every other team they get ready for. let's take a listen to coach. we prepare facing a team, can't control what the record was and wasn't, 15 and 0, 15, wouldn't have any control over that, all we can control is the team that we play and performance against that team. that's what we try to do. prepare our play against our opponent. don't worry about their record what it was or wasn't, how many yards they gained or didn't
6:33 am
play the opponent that we're playing it is the sale way we do against every other team we face it is really not that hard. the pats going to be ready. the only person is lineman tray jackson ruled out but there are questionables we're talking about chandler jones, julian edleman, high tower, tom brady with that high ankle sprain, he looks to be okay, probable for today's game and i've got his jersey on underneath, hopefully that will send good vibes our way. this is why you'll not want to change the channel, that gets underway at 2:00 as we preview the match off. kickoff on wbz immediately after the game we have our sports team all together to wrap things up hopefully we're talking about a win on the patriots fifth quarter show all the action start to finish all
6:34 am
all right back at the wbz studios a little warmer inside the studios and a little dryer inside the studios. >> don't mind me all fine in here while you are out there wet and soggy. we'll get the hot dogs with catch up on you. >> don't forget the relish. don't forget the touch of relish. thanks so much. meanwhile, our top stories some debris is spotted as crews search for 12 marines. 40-foot waves and foggy conditions affect the search there are six on both choppers one washingham. >> the fbi is joining the investigation who called in numerous threats two schools

depending upon which team loses someone is either going to have to send kansas city barbecue or missouri. the good news is all of the food will go to food banks so that's for a good cause, it is not fun if you don't get in on the action we here got on the action when our counterparts at kctv kind of put a little challenge out to us, take a look. good morning to the city of boston we are the morning team here in kansas city, we're also the home of the chiefs and we are pretty confidence the chiefs will play gilette stadium and win on saturday. wager. here is the deal. if the chiefs some how lose, not going to happen, we will wear patriots gear on live television and we'll even eat some of your precious baked beans. not sure if you've ate baked beans but we'll do it.
6:37 am
to wear chiefs gear not to mention eat our delicious kansas city barbecue. >> boom. see you saturday. so i don't know if it was factor. >> come on, we had a come back for them. >> that we did. good morning kansas city, we are the morning team from wbz in boston, the patriots station, we accept the challenge from your team at kctv. when the patriots win this weekend we look forward to seeing you in all this pats gear. instead of making you eat baked beans we'll send you a cream pie. and we'll wear your chiefs gear and enjoy some of your barbecue. go pats is absolutely right. if tom brady is watching please bring your a-game. we do not want to have to wear

. welcome back to a cold and rainy gilette stadium. thanks for joining us, we want to bring in danielle niles, my good friend, i thought i was going to have to fish you off out there, all you want to do is a run and slip and slide. i've never done a slip and slide ever. the tarp and the water on the field. we never did. >> crazy. i was just looking at the boston weather app, we were surrounded by the deep oranges and now it is picking up a little bit more.
6:40 am
the good news is it is a fast moving storm out of here by kickoff. if you're coming to gilette, temperatures are in the 30s right now and guess what we're staying in the 30s we may come up by a degree or two around 40 degrees the rain should be done right around noon, 1 p.m. the heaviest rain will be tapering off by that point falling into the upper 30s for kickoff and partial clearing comes in towards the end of the game mid-30s the wind isn't going to be a big issue for tom brady of course any breeze will add chill to the air. the real chill will the in the 20s, pamela gardner is in the studio, it is important even though it is january, it could be in 9 single digits and teens you still need to be bundled up, three layers this morning. >> yeah, you're all bundled up that's a great idea because you can always take off the layers if you get hot. it is going to be a chilly,
6:41 am
wind and the rain will eventually subside later today by game time current radar picture want to show you the deal mostly rain from boston, to plymouth, and temperatures are right around freezing, temperatures getting more freezing rain. foxboro, steady temperatures pick up in intensity more of the orange and the red will move through your area with heavy downpours at times. as we go to the north and west once we get into worcester county, berry, orange, friends in fitchburg, that's where we have slick spots because of the freezing rain concord, 31 around freezing meaning you'll see more of that freezing rain initially changing over to somewhat snow later on. we have all rain in boston to medford, north shore to the south shore, we'll continue to see rain areas to the south and
6:42 am
the cape the islands included. hour by hour, 8 a.m. still all rain from boston to even foxboro, that freezing line from orange to manchester north of there, getting more of freezing rain changing over the wet snow starting to accumulate in the ski resort areas noon still looking all rain for us but the heaviest rain moves on 4:30 just prior to kickoff time we're drying off in foxboro, over night tonight the clear sky temperatures will be allowed to fall pretty quickly leading to slick spots tomorrow morning mix to wet snow once we get out of 495 mainly rain in boston where we could see light snow brief accumulation in the worcester hills maybe 1 to 3- inch range. monday, 26 blustery, another chance for light snow nothing too widespread.

6:52 am
patriots are well rested coming off a bi-week, they have injuries and questionable players for today's game. first we want to get to pamela gardner with a check of our forecast this morning. oh, boy. torrential rain continues right over gilette stadium and across much of the area where we see areas of pink that's where we have freezing rain creating slick spots on the roads. zoom into foxboro, the rain continues for the next few hours the freezing rain continues to fall in berry, wear, fitchburg into the worcester hills where we expect slick spots, concord, manchester around the freezing mark as well. we have all rain here in boston with the temperatures of 37 degrees the cape the islands getting extremely heavy rainfall, thankfully no winter weather northern parts of new england that's where we expect most of the snow to fall. and the deal today we have a winter weather advisory meaning that travel will be a little bit difficult, that's up until
6:53 am
once we get into northern parts of new england. today's storm producing mainly rain in boston to foxboro. the worcester hills the brookshires, once we get that change overcoming in just the next couple of hours or so. thankfully it looks like we'll get all of that precipitation out of here just in time for the big game in foxboro, by 4 p.m. it is looking dry overcast. let's go back to gilette stadium. danielle, thank goodness i'm glad we timed this out just right. we are doing just fine pamela. absolutely. in and out this storm very progressive, yeah it may be a soggy start outhere right now, good news for pats and the fans to do tailgating i would have the wet weather gear with you if you're coming by late
6:54 am
let's check out the game day forecast, temperatures in the 30s we'll stay in the 30s here through the course of the day drying out kickoff weather that northwest wind takes hold a dryer wind direction, shouldn't be an issue for the game but make it feel even colder we drop back a little bit into the fourth quarter around 36 with that bit of a breeze the real feel is going to be running in the 20s, so i have three layers on, you have three i think too right? i don't know. january, this time of the year could be in the teens 20s could be worse. you want to be dressed feel colder. i've got four layers on. i've got a tom brady jersey on getting pumped. good news with the weather but there are 12 pats players listed as questionable which means there is a 50/50 chance of them playing we are talking about gronkowski, edleman,
6:55 am
news though from all of this is that gronk participated in a walk through but on a limited basis, he has knee and back issues how affective he will be and if he can play that's still unknown we'll have to wait until kickoff to see how that goes line backers as well, we're dealing with a lot of issues here at this time with questionable players out there, high tower he is questionable and he has been here before, he'll be back here again he says all the pats play off runs have prepared them for this one. >> i mean, experience definitely helps again it is going to come down and a game plan, we've hat a pretty good week of practice definitely on stuff. it is just going to have to come down to saturday.

. good morning everyone, welcome. monday january 11th was human trafficking awareness day, this was also a historic day for domestic workers here in the city of boston as a result of the first ever nanny census were unvealed showing startling numbers, it shows by the women's working centers here to give us all the details is their lead organizer julia. good. tell us about this first of all, why do it the same day as human trafficking awareness day? >> this has been around for about 14 years when we started it was a need for to support survives of human trafficking there was a need for us in boston and no resources to help
7:37 am
unfortunately human trafficking remains fairlyrampant among domestic workers given the isolation of the work. describe what it is now. your mission, obviously you started that way. >> our commission continues to put an ender to gender-based violence, in women's work where we see immigrant workers primarily immigrant women's work when we say domestic workers, care giving, house cleaning, all of that. >> wow. >> talk to us about the study the first ever nanny census. what can you tell us? >> we got the idea to do the census because we were wondering what are they being paid, benefits and protections and we were talking about this early and 315 nannies and other child care providers on the playgrounds and parks actually

their working conditions to find out both what was happening and what they wanted. obviously this was a historic day this past monday what is in place of the event? we had press there also joined by the chief of the fair labor division of the attorney general's office who was a principal enforcement agency of a law passed for workers. we talked about the results but also had personal stories of nannies to explain why this really matters. results. >> i can't wait! numbers. the three sort of main results first was an enormous pay range, making up to $30 an hour in the low end there were nannies making as low as $4.44. >> $4.44 . about $6 below minimum wage. we know there are probably
7:39 am
the second is around overtime, the overtime to protect the nannies in massachusetts for 45years despite that our survey revealed they are not receiving their time and a half pay after 40. 45 years, -- i think it is a combination of nannies not knowing about it we need to do a lot of education and outreach. >> do you think also that because like you said a lot of nannies also are from other countries and don't necessarily speak english. do you think that they are a little bit scared. >> do you think that's a big issue? one of the important moments when we're joined by the attorney general's office, the representative made very clear that all these labor protections that protect
7:40 am
to anyone whether or not you're documented or an immigrant. >> obviously a lot of them are not getting paid, not getting paid the overtime rate, another big finding was around paid time off. we asked what is it that you would like that ranged from anything from wanting a nanny union to more personal time the main thing that came up, holiday, above everything else was sick time. there was a new law passed last year which gave most workers the right to paid sick time. unfortunately the requirement is you have 10 coworkers, and most nannies have coworkers. though you cannot be fired for asking for sick time they have no right to paid time off and so more than anything as we talk to all the hundreds of nannies we spoke to they really
7:41 am
there is no union. domestic workers won the right to bargain and form a union, hasn't happened yet but we are one of the few states where that right is available. something we're definitelyexploring we also have to figure out ways to negotiate. thank you so much for coming by. this is an important census that you guys did i'm sure that is only the beginning, you guys will continue doing other ones, thank you so much for coming by. thanks. for more information on this historic nanny census, call the women workers center at 617-785-8597 to get a direct link to their website visit us online at cb sboston.com, and invite with us to like us on twitter. inviting you to step forward to
