three american contractors were kidnapped by around malitias, several workers are missing, but happened to them. for the latest on this breaking story, watch wbz news tomorrow morning at 4:30, or go ahead and check out cbs boston.com overnight. . now, to our other top story, snow and it's coming down at a pretty good clip tonight, especially south of boston. this is what it looked like in hingham. some areas could see 3 or more inches of snow before this ends. >> that means it could be a messy commute in some areas, there be fewer cars on the road because of the martin luther king, jr. holiday. meteorologist barry burbank is here to tell us which spots will get the most. >> winter is kicking in, ken, no question about that, we do have snow across the region and a winter weather advisory by the national weather service. 10:00 o'clock tomorrow morning, the sun will be out. an overnight event for the most part.

the good news is the patriots are a better team, the bad news, they have never won a playoff they are 0-3. and denver got it done tonight against the steelers, pick it up late in the fourth quarter. steelers clinging to a 1 point lead, but they don't cling to the football. the running back, loses the ball, the broncos pounce on it. manning leads them to the first c.j. anderson from a yard out, and after a 2-point converse, 20-13 lead with 3 minutes left in the game. steelers last chance, 4th and 5, ben roethlisberger, he is sacked. that's it. denver wins it 23-16. manning and brady one more time. with the winner going to the super bowl. so here it is, the patriots open up 2.5 favorites, brady and manning for the 17th time. what a week. the pats continue their drive for five.

so in the end, we did not get any help from the steelers and now the road to the super bowl must travel through denver, would have been nice to have that home game, but alas, not to be. jim smith wbz news. we look forward to the game nonetheless. >> a chelsea woman is recovering tonight after she was brutally attacked and robbed. walking home from work last night. police are looking for the three men who beat her, this happened on lynn street extension around 9:30. the victim in her 20s, told the police the man jumped her, kicked and slashed her and took her belongings. tonight, police and the district attorney's office investigating an apparent murder su sides is involving a -- murder sudden involving a former police officer. >>reporter: 294 -- an apparent murder-suicide, inl involving one of their own.

attorney's office ft reporting in the satellite center, wbz news. right now, police in auburn are trying to find out who shot out the windows of several cars. about 20 people on rock land, sumner and boy streets called to report their windows shattered. pennsylvania woman will face a judge in new hampshire next month, after state police clocked her going more than a 100 miles per hour on route 93 this morning. after tracking her speed from the air, police pulled kayla over in new hampton. also be charged with reckless driving. tonight, crews continue to search for a dozen marines in the waters off hawaii, the marines were in two helmets that -- helicopters that went down. one of the choppers, christopher ping ham, officials say they will search around the clock.

hingham is on his way home tonight after spending more than a month in an iranian prison. the iranian government freed him yesterday. and also, headed home tonight, four other americans freed from iran as part of a prisoner swap. wendy gillette has the story. >>reporter: a swiss air force plane carrying three americans who had been imprisoned in iran landed in geneva sunday. this picture posted on an envoy twitter account is the first of washington post reporter jason rezaian as a free man. he and fellow former prisoners amir and saeed abedini flew to a u.s. military hospital in germany, where they're being evaluated. president barack obama held a news conference at the white house sunday morning. >> today we're united and welcoming home sons and and husbands and brothers, who in lonely prison cells have endured a nightmare.

campaign 2016 now, in just a couple of week, the first votes will be cast in the race for the white house. and tonight, the three democrats running for that office met this their final debate before the iowa caucus asks the new hampshire primary. weijia jiang has the story. >>reporter: under fire, from hillary clinton, for changing his position on immunity of gun manufacturers, vermont senator bernie sanders shot back at his opponent. >> i think secretary clinton knows what she says is very disingenuous. >>reporter: a d-minus report card from the ira, but voted numerous ties with the gun lobby. >> he voted to let guns go on to amtrak, national parks, he voted against doing research to figure out how we can save lives. >>reporter: former maryland governor martin o'malley accused

arcade fire, joining a second line parade in the french quarter, fans dressed in bowie attire to honor the legendary rock star, he died a week ago at the age of 69. barry burbank joins us because we are feeling more like winter these days. >> yeah, we've got snow out there, kind of really focused on plymouth county, the south shores, the target zone. pretty much, not a major storm any way. in some places, even less than an inch. another minor storm, but the longest wait for a one-inch plus storm in boston, they'll get that inch of snow, perhaps not too much more of an inch at the logan airport. that's the way it looks now, in third place for that longest wait for a one inch plus storm in any particular season. behind vld vd. the snowfall reportings, 3

framing ham, 1.3 now and way so how much? yeah, right on the south shore, this is where most of the snow, i've tailed it a bill bit back out west -- a little bit back out west. it seems to be falling apart. a coating or inch beyond that. holes in here where some places don't even get an inch because that's the way it looks right now, it's fe cussed on the south shore -- focused on the south shore, and a narrow strip, 4 inches, changed over to snow on the outer part of cape cod, they should get a little bit of snow down there. but for the most part, that's where most of the snow is going to be falling. we can see pockets of light to moderate snow in wooster, extended up towards maynard, southeast of mill ford. here's where most of the snow is going to be falling right near the deeper blues indicative of heavier snow. the main storm, it's a big one,

enhancing the snow. there cops an arctic cold front, you will know when that passes, the wind will pick up quickly and suddenly out of that and gusting to 35-40 miles per hour, and plenty of cold air, in fact, we had temperatures today in the 30s, this is what it was out west, where it was no higher than 3 below 0 for a high in minneapolis, really cold stuff. and we are going to see temperatures now 29 degrees in boston, it's 11 in buffalo, it is a goose egg in chicago and 17 below at national falls, not going to be that cold as the first band moves offshore. maybe awe flurry or snow squall. the sun will be coming out. fast moving clouds, wind will be coming in. the temperature will be falling a little bit tomorrow afternoon. in the lower 20s, and then teens tomorrow night and finally down feeling like probably close to, i would say, feeling like 0 by tuesday morning. so that wind is really going to
