the next 20 minutes or so. and as we head to the south we have new snow showers moving through fall river and new bedford and just a local at fall river. all locations in that town experiencing some moderate snowfall. winter weather advisory continues until 10 a.m. for the counties in purple and that includes downtown boston travel is going to be slick for next few hours. hour by hour forecast we get all this out of here and by 11 a.m., we will start to see burst of sunshine a few flurries may linger in the forecast. however, it's going to be the cold that you notice temperatures staying in the 20s and the wind really picks up from the west. dangerous wind chills on the tomorrow. we will go through the numbers in just a few minutes. now. >> reporter: bad news is the snow sek sped to last through most of the -- expected to last through most of the morning commute but we expect fewer cars because of the holiday. not hearing about any accidents out there yet. pike.

you can see they are starting to come by on the westbound side as we speak. no reports of problems on thepike. south map shows lots green. expressway light volume but it's moving right along. take a look at north same deal 93 looks good coming from andover and the rest of the routes from the south are trouble free. >> thanks very much. we start with a developing story this morning. the search is on for three americans believed to be kidnapped in iraq. >> an arab newschannel reported they were on their way to baghdad international airport when they were kidnapped by militias. u.s. embassy in baghdad confirmed several americans are missing. we will stay on top of this and bring you updates when they come in. a 30-year-old student from hingham is back this morning after being imprisoned in eye ran for 40 days. the release is as the iranian government freed four other americans. >> it was part of a separate negotiation brokered by secretary of state john kerry.

the suspect fired shots on faceston street three bulletshate 30-year-old man standing in a doorway and he is expected tosurvive. police are not sure if it was a random incident or if the victim was being targeted. a chelsea woman is recovering this morning after she was brutally attacked and robbed while walking home from work and today police are looking for three men who beat her. this happened on lynn street extension around 9:30 saturday night. she isth victim is in her 20s and told police the men jumped her and kicked her and slashed her and took her belongings. it's 5: 08. this morning police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a former police officer. police were at the home of 294 forest street where the alleged murder-suicide took place. this morning neighbors and retired waltham police officer confirmed to wbz the people living inside the home were former waltham police officer

40 miles per hour from stoushage from boston and to the new york border on the westbound side so take it slow and other major routes will have to reduce speed limits as well. 5:19. this week a judge is expected to set a new trial date for former patriots star aaron hernandez. he is accused of killing two men outside a boston nightclub in 2012. he pleaded not guilty and the trial is the latest in the case was expected to start this month but a judge delayed it due to a battle over evidence in the case. hernandez is serving a life lloyd. the mayor is going to deliver the second state of the city address tomorrow night. he is going to focus on his economic plans which help bring ge to the hub as well as his data driven approach to government. the globe reports the protesters upset with the way the mayor is handling boston public schools will also be there even though the mayor approved a 13.5 million dollar increase in the budget.

get to where you need to go. we will look live and local looks at radar. heaviest snow where it's starting to move in to downtown boston at this time and most of the snow concentrated around the coastline. temperatures in the upper 20s and so we are dealing with some light and informy snow allowing for slightly higher snow totalsthan if we had temperatures around freezing. boston came brag -- cambridge and all of the heavier snow is piling up and pushing towards the airport and we are awaiting the latest information with how much snow the airport has recorded. so far newton and watertown getting a heavy snow burst but heaviest snow pushing out. woburn get a down burst of snow and you could experience a gusty wind in the snow squalls as well. the heaviest snow will move out of boston within the next 20 to 40 minutes and this is a quick moving system. to west in the beer shiers we are -- berk-- berkshires we are getting light snow. most accumulation will wrap up

snow totals so far coming in 4 hanover. plymouth reporting 3.1 inches of snow. south weymouth 3 new bedford ubd 3 inches -- under 3 inches of snow. the total will update. over the eastern half of massachusetts from cape anne to cape cod a in between. downtown boston heavier snow showers at this time. cambridge somerville medford north shore and we will zoom in and give you road views. anywhere downtown you are experience low advice it and quick snow accumulation that will make travel tricky if you are trying to head into the city at this time. next couple hours, this will let up and move out. south shore we go scituate and moderate snow moving through taunton and middleboro and lakeville but the last little bit of snow is moving through worcester county right now. the berkshires getting a few
