live from the channel 4 studios in boston. wbz news at 11:00 starts right now. new at 11:00 tonight, we are feeling the freeze and of course, closely tracking a major storm that is headed for the east coast. >> this is the nor'easter that will definitely hit some major cities. the question of course, tonight, does it hit us? eric fisher has his eye on the storm for us. >> eric, it will be a close call. >> we are right on the edge. last couple. we are feeling that tonight, teens and some low 20s. cold air across the northeast, and cold will not be a problem for this particular storm. in the short-term, we still have the wind also. gusting to 30 miles per hour. providence town, gusting to 35. expect another cold morning. tomorrow. air temperatures in the low

end of the day, not as harsh. then we'll turn our attention to the storm system. the energy is moving ashore across the pacific northwest and like any good recipe, pick up some ingredients along the way. that energy will leave the coast. and tropical moisture, and really starts to deepen. and off the mid atlantic coastline on saturday. that's where it starts to crank up in the mid atlantic takes the brunt of the storm. the question for us is, as we head towards saturday and sunday, how far off to our south and east is this going to track? a little farther north and west and it's a bigger snow solution a little further south and east and we just get grazed by it. we are living right on that northern. right now it doesn't look like a storm system for northern new england. we could see some significant snow here. the further south you go, the higher that risk is going to go. where we might see bigger snow totals and coastal concerns from on shore winds coming up

>> thank you. breaking news tonight. where a man was pulled unconscious from his burning home. that fire breaking out before 8:00 in a home on edith homes drive. firefighters could not get inside because of clutter in the home. the victim was rushed to the hospital and right now is in serious condition. also breaking tonight, the coast guard just suspended the search for 12 marines, including a native who went missing off the coast of hawaii after a helicopter crash. let's get to liam martin, he's live in the satellite center. >> crews only recovered four empty life rafts and debris from the choppers, but there is no sign of those missing marines. among them, corporal christopher orlando. officials say that the decision tonight to suspend was tough. >> i hope that the effort, the

willing to put forward so much effort to try to bring those marines home will provide some solace in the future. >> the crews will transition to a recovery and salvage mission. hawaii on friday. >> several breaking stories in campaign 2016 tonight. starting with the big endorsement for donald trump. fun. i am here because like you, i know that it is now or never. i'm in it to win it. >> former vice presidential candidate, sarah palin is trump. his campaign calls her endorsement an honor. campaign. one of his volunteers was killed in a car accident in iowa. that crash on icy roads also injured three campaign workers. carson suspended his campaign events for the day. and in new hampshire, there is a big shakeup for the democrats.

sanders surging ahead of hillary clinton by 27 points. that is his largest lead to date in any state. the new hampshire primary is three weeks from tonight. mayor walsh used his state of the city address to tout successes of the past year. the protesters who turned out tonight don't like what's happening in boston public schools. wbz's political analyst breaks down the mayor's address all new at 11:00. john. >> police like any state of speech, this was a combination of self-congratulations for past accomplishments and visions of future achievements. and from this popular mayor at midterm, also a surprisingly plaintiff note of yearning for unity behind him. >> i'm here to report that the city of boston is as strong as it's ever been. >> inside symphony hall, outside, proof that the walsh

protect what we love about our city by sometimes embracing change. >> the mayor walsh got a big hand when he mentioned the city's victory in the corporate headquarterrings. funding starved school advocates, a measure of the tough political road that lies ahead. david. >> john, thank you. on wbz. a man opens fire inside a train station injuring two people and terrified riders capture the chaos as it unfolds. right now, police are searching for the gunman and wbz is live in east boston tonight and this train. >> that's right, david, and now police have put on a be on the lookout for this suspect after they say he fled out of the t station you see behind me, terrified. >> i heard what was a shot.

and then when i saw was the people in my car started recoiling. >> it was just a routine hop on the blue line. when marty witnessed a frightening and gruesome sight. >> as you can see, there's the ground. >> two men gunned down at the mavericks square t stop. the aftermath captured on the cell phone. >> and then there's a second individual here. >> it started around 2:30 tuesday afternoon with a verbal fight between two men on the blue line train. the fight turned violent as the train was pulling into the station. >> one male pulled out a firearm and fired at least two rounds at the victims. >> a 29-year-old shot as he was getting off the train. a 43-year-old man who police believe was not riding on the train shot on the platform. >> we don't know his involvement, if at all. >> both sent to the hospital injuries. all of it happening to the horror of 15 passengers on that train car.

came on to our car crying. and saying someone had been shot. one of the ladies say someone had been shot in the face. >> police are on the hunt for the suspect while passengers are recovering from the experience. >> we didn't know whether we were in the middle of a terrorist incident. >> now police are now reviewing surveillance video and witness interviews. we're live in east boston, wbz news. david. >> thank you. a guilty verdict in a horrific crash in jamaica. a jury convicting nicholas of negligent driving. he was speeding when he lost control of his suv. slammed into a pickup truck, that crash paralyzed the teenage passenger and the truck driver. he faces up to two years in prison at his sentencing next month. >> angry, frightened, frustrated, thousands of family are seething after bomb threats again forced evacuations at

wbz kate merrill is live. police say this was yet another hoax. >> reporter: yes, in fact, all of the schools here, one of 15 districts across the state today and parents here don't know if they should be worried or simply annoyed. >> yeah, scared. >> tim and his twin daughters admit tuesday was a tough day. >> it is scary. you have to take it serious. >> their school was one of close to two dozen districts disrupted by a bomb threat since friday. in fact, all the schools here were affected. >> we found out through a phone call. that the kids didn't know about it. it was kind of scary knowing that happened. >> the schools were swept by police so the kids were never sent home. but in other towns like arlington, they were. >> this is extremely disruptive to our communities. and very unsettling toe students. given what has happened around the country and we're taking this very seriously. >> local, state, and federal

on tuesday, there were 15 towns threatening calls. from the south shore to boston to towns north and west. it is becoming a trend angering more than police. it's scary. it's scary, i think, more than our kids. every day you wonder, is something going to happen? >> from fear to frustration, bogus calls have parents looking for answers. sending their kids off to school shouldn't be so unnerving. >> it's obviously a little bit stressful, but you have to also take it serious, you know. i have no real answer on how they should solve it. >> there were also calls in maryland and new jersey and now the fbi is investigating if all of these are connected. live tonight, kate merrill, wbz news. >> so disruptive. those bomb threats bring us to our number of the night. 20, that's how many years in prison you could face for

and i'm thinking to myself, did it get stolen? >> it was an overnight disappearing act, one that took to process. fortunately monday was a holiday. >> this was my car, it was parked in this dead end area. >> which means he didn't have to work, but others did. >> my moms and aunts cars were parked down this stretch. >> mahoney and his family soon came to realize their vehicles were at this tow lot and it was going to cost them. >> per car, it was $132. >> times three. >> times three for my aunt, yup. >> in all, the city of worcester ticketed nearly 750 vehicles and towed more than half early monday morning. because a little known winter weather parking ban was in effect. and now officials admit they were to blame. >> we were probably in bed around 10:00 and it was issued at 11:30. >> officials posted that ban at a quarter to 1:00 a.m. on facebook and later elsewhere.

but windchill values are 2 below in worcester, 6 in manchester. it is cold all over and certainly want to be layered up. not as much wind as we had today, but gusting through tonight and tomorrow's wind gusts are mainly between 20 and 30 miles per hour. could see a couple as high as 30 miles per hour. while not as harsh today, it is still going to be a cold, wintery day. actual real feel temperatures will be 0 to 10 out the door. temperatures in the teens and stay on that chilly note all day long. the winds out of the north, northwest. we'll add 5 degrees to our high temperatures from today and still be a breeze out there tomorrow night and we're talking about more wind on the way for thursday. high temperature near 30 in boston tomorrow. 26 in worcester. 27. better chance of reaching the freezing mark toward the cape, islands, and coast. it will feel better, but not a huge thaw for us.

this week, oughted area of cold air and high pressure builds in for thursday. 20s, breezy, friday, a break from the wind and we have bright skies, no issues on friday. then we'll turn our attention to this developing nor'easter. what we have on saturday is a storm undergoing a very powerful storm. and in fact, it could be a historic snowstorm in parts of the mid atlantic. they get the biggest totals in around d.c., virginia, any plans here friday into saturday, that's where you want to think about rearranging those plans. for us in southern new england, we are right on the edge of this storm system. so as it slowly moves its way off toward the north and east. the question is, will it wobble further northwest and that's going to bring that line further inland or wobble south and east and take all this out to sea? we're at the point where we're looking at the highest confidence snow. it's from the new york area south and west.

are locked in now. for us, where's our highest risk of plowable snow? you are most in line right now for the biggest snow totals. boston area and along the pike. our cutoff will be sharp here. an area of significant snow and jump into an area with little to nothing and for new hampshire, this may end up being a complete miss. maybe even northern massachusetts. we also have a full moon on saturday, on shore winds, strong winds over the weekend. especially saturday night and this could cause areas of coastal flooding and erosion. there's foining to be things to consider, even if it takes a more southerly track. bottom line is, chilly all workweek. watching the weekend storm, any snow would be arriving on saturday afternoon and dave and lisa, we'll have a much better picture and start talking totals tomorrow. >> thank you. if you're buying a drone, be aware if you're not careful, the cost of the device won't be
