there has been signs that the storm will make more of a pass over southern new england with a jackpot in the mid atlantic region. that's not to say we won't get snow in new england but it's sharp cut off. time frame of biggest concern is later saturday into sunday. mid atlantic may see over a foot in some spots but southern new he canland we get -- southern new england we get grazed and we are talking lesser amounts. it's likely south and east of nan it can but there's still uncertainty -- nantucket but there's still uncertainty how close it comes to the area. it looks like high tides will combine and create coastal concerns for high tide cycles as well. until then it's quiet. 21 in boston. real feel is 5 because that wind is still active. worcester feels like 3 below right now. wind chills in the single digits back down to the cape. so, it's another cold one. current wind gusts between 20 and 35 miles per hour. they won't be as strong as

morning as the fbi continues to investigate bomb threats and communities. all of the threats have turned out to be hoaxes. >> it's been frustrating for parents and students as you can imagine. susie steimle is live outside arlington high school and police say it was another hoax. >> reporter: this was a hoax as so many of these turn out to be position. how do they prioritize safety combination of fear. >> it freaks us out. >> reporter: and frustration. >> the calls i am getting from superintendents are they areexasperateed and feeling how do we stop this. >> reporter: tuesday 15 towns across the commonwealth received threatening calls from the south shore to boston. some shut down, others had to shelter in place. all required a heavy police presence. at it cost to resources and sense of security. >> every day they go to school

happen. >> aid difficult decision because it involves a lost students very young -- a lot of students and very young students that have to be moved. >> reporter: in arlington police made a split second decision based on this. >> backpacks will explode in the school and surviving students exiting the building would be shot. >> reporter: all the while police know the threats rarely become incidents. still, they have to take each one seriously. >> even when they are low level incidents like this, where we are getting ro about. o calls or continually seeing computerized threats, you can't just dismiss them. >> reporter: with the increase in social media police say there's just more places for people to make these threats. if they had more time, they would send more resources to know it may be a hoax but that's a luxury they don't have. in this case, no arrests have been made. live in arlington, susie steimle wbz this morning. >> thank you.

news from hawaii this morning. the coast guard suspending the search for 12 missing marines. turning to a recovery and salvage mission. hingham. the marines were flying -- marines is a man from hingham. the marines were flying in two helicopters. they recovered four empty life choppers. but no signs of the marines. hingham native corporal christopher orlando is among the missing. officials say the decision to suspended search was a difficult one. >> -- suspend the search was a difficult one. >> i hope that the efforts and the knowledge that so many were willing to put forward so much effort to try to bring those marines home will provide solace in the future. >> a memorial for the missing marines will be held in hawaii on friday. >> right now boston police are looking for the man who shot two people in a t station.

chaos as it unfolded. it's video you saw on 4. good news is both victims are expected to recover. nicole jacobs is live outside the maverick t station with more on this scary situation. nicole. >> reporter: chris, police say the two men suffered nonlife- threatening gunshot wounds which is somewhat of a good news but all of this happening during the busy afternoon rush. >> we didn't know whether we were in the middle of a terrorist incident. >> reporter: it was just that scary. tuesday afternoon at the maverick square t stop. >> i heard what was a shot it was a firecracker or shot. >> reporter: gun fire on the platform. martti vallila's cell phone capturing the moments after the shooting. >> a individual is on the ground. >> reporter: it started on an inbound blue line train around 2 p.m. police say. two men arguing. that escalated as the train pulled into the station.

firearm and fired at least two rounds at the victim. >> reporter: wbz has learned a 29-year-old man getting off the train was shot along with a 43- year-old man police say may have just been on the platform. >> and then there's a second individual over here. >> reporter: both men are said to have nonlife-threatening injuries. nonetheless a frightening ordeal for those who bourn witness. the suspect in this case is still on the loose this morning. of course anyone with information is urged to contact police. live in boston nicole jacobs wbz this morning. >> thanks very much. 5:07. a scituate man was pulled from his burning home. fire broke out just before 8 last night in a house on edith holmes drive. firefighters couldn't get inside quickly because of clutter inside the home. the victim was rushed to the hospital. his condition is unknown right now. a guilty verdict in the trial of a driver accused in a

the east coast is bracing for a potential nor'easter this weekend. and communities on the south shore are already preparing. >> scituate and marshfield saw lot of flooding last winter and they have invested a lot of money to reenforce the sea walls. >> reremember what last winter looked like and so far we have been okay. >> i know that makes me nervous a little bit. danielle you are keeping an eye on this. >> if you live in the spots when you heart storm the term nor east are you think okay i am going to get the persistent northeast wind but the problem this weekend is there's a full moon. so on top of that onshore wind, we have astronomical high tides so we are watching the potential for minor flooding possible and significant beach erosion particularly northeast facing beaches and especially from the south shore back down towards the cape cod canal and outer cape and nantucket too. so we will keep you posted in the next couple days a lower ris that can we may see moderate coastal flooding as we head into saturday.

miles per hour in a lot of spots as high as 38 miles per hour in providencetown. so the wind yesterday gusted over 50 miles per hour at times. won't be as strong as today but will create a blustery feel. real feel in the single digits feels like 5 at logan airport and feels like 3 below in worcester. so another very cold start. real feel will be a little bit above where it was yesterday. and it will be a few degrees warmer so through the afternoon, the wind chill forecast will gradually rise through the teens into the low 20s and by the time we get to the afternoon. skies are clear so it's going to be beautiful looking day. and to the west we have got snow coming through chicago down through kentucky and tennessee with several inches of snow this morning. that will pass to the south. it's the next disturbance that's just come into the pacific northwest. this is our weather maker and the energy that is going to dig through the rockies and eventually form our storm as we head into the weekend. so until then it's quiet. mostly sunny today.

of sunshine again tomorrow. the wind will be a little active. by the time we get to tomorrow, area of low pressure will be developing along the gulf coast states. it's going to pick up some moisture from the gulf and it's going redevelop into a storm center off the carolina coastline. the mid atlantic looks like it's going to be the jackpot for the storm. is it out of the reel will of -- realm of possibility some parts see potentially one to two feet of snow? not out of the question. hooks like the storm will pass south and east of nantucket. that would put us on the northern fringech the question is how close -- fringech the question is how close does it get. either way several inches are likely. it's wednesday keep that in mind. the risk of plowable snow decreases. the farther north you go because i think there will be a sharp northern edge in terms of the cut off of the snowfall. highest risk of the greater amounts would be along and south of the mass pike and back down along the south coast. now keep in mind this is track

a t station a fight start on a blue line train. one man was shot as he was getting off the train. a second man on the platform was also hit. both are expected to recover. terrified riders captured the chaos on cell phones. a disturbing story actually right now the mbta taking steps to keep the morning commute on track and to avoid cold weather delays. nicole jacobs is live in east boston and are these efforts working? >> reporter: it's little too early to tell because t officials have been very clear to say that these issues the huge weather related issues come with prolonged cold snaps but nonetheless they headed out a couple hours again this morning ahead of the preor the regular scheduled routes i should say. let's look at this. our cameras did capture the trains in action making sure the cars and the tracks are in good standing or as good as possible for the very cold temperatures.
