on saturday peeking-- peak on saturday morning and bringing the snow across philly and dc and virginia and notice the northern extent of it. it's going to have a very tough time lifting northward into new england so as it stands right now. early estimates for three days out and the best chance of a half foot of snow he that's the ceiling at this point is in southeastern massachusetts. there's going to be very sharp cut off between snow and basically nothing at all. the line is around the pike. i think once you move north of there this is pretty much a nonevent. of course we will watch this carefully over the next couple days and see if the lines have to move a little bit. you don't want to take a forecast on wednesday and just take it to the bank for the weekend. maybe the snow would be developing late on saturday afternoon. the best chance of snowfall would be saturday night during the overnight and that's also where see see the strongest winds and pulling offshore very quickly on sunday morning. so all tolled right now, cautiously optimistic wouldn't point. we will talk more about the storm and coasta flooding

tonight first cold outside 20s and 30s. a little less edge because we had a little less wind. tonight breezy and chilly and january. and temperatures in the teens and becoming mostly cloudy and winds out of the northwest at 5 to 15. and tomorrow is a lot like every day we have seen so far this week. it's going to be a cold start. looked bright skies and mix of sun and clouds. winds out of the northwest at 10 to 20 and higher gusts and high temperatures in the mid to upper 20s for us. which is below average for this time of year. and winter day we are bundled up and layered up and more on that on friday to enweek. 26 in worcester 27 in fitchburg and freezing mark on nantucket for tomorrow. quiet friday no issues and we will watch this developing winter storm. so the energy for it right now is working down the front range of the rockies and over time what that is going to do is track along the southern periphery of the coast and as it heads to the gulf coast will create severe weather new orleans and friday across florida and then it hits the

becomes a major east coast winter storm. really a textbook winter storm for the mid-atlantic. last winter everything went ripe for boston where we had the big storms it's been five yearssince they have had one towards washington, d.c. like this and this is going to be in 2010. so here's timeline. we have got all that snowfall developing on friday afternoon. and heading on up into dc and if you are traveling anywhere through say philly and new york airports on friday and saturday, and charlotte raleigh and baltimore they are going to have significant issues. and then we look towards saturday afternoon. and that snow line is going to get just to the shores and then the question is, does it nudge ashore or stay just off toward the south. so an early estimate three days out i think the best chance if we can maybe see a half foot of snowfall if it happens it's in southeastern massachusetts and that line may need to come farther south to the coast over the next couple days and, of course, we will keep updating it over the next 48 hours. a really sharp cut off so as
6:15 pm
edge there's going to be nothing. it's not going to be a jackpot area here and snow elsewhere. i think if you are north the pike very low impact pretty much a nonevent is how it looks right now. now as we watch the snow the first flakes will develop late on saturday afternoon. and morning no issues there and many are marathon training trying to get a long run. peak snow chance is saturday night that's where we see the strongest winds and it's winding down early sunday night. it's where we see the strongest winds 45 to 65 miles an hour strongest gusts nantucket and martha vineyard and winds will decrease work north and west. strong winds binge with -- combining with high tides because the full moon is saturday night stack up more so we have a high tide on saturday and sunday morning and both should produce minor flood and erosion on east facing beaches. right now it's farther south

concerns with coastal flooding. here's accu-weather 7-day. sun comes out on sunday afternoon as the storm pulls away. highs near 30 and winds will diminish and monday and tuesday and milder and head out the deep freeze we have been in all week and no snow in the forecast after saturday and sunday. david and paula over to you. >> thank you. a little disconcerting when we spoke with steve and he mentioned matthew slater possibly being out. >> not a good thing. tackles -- no. tackles. >> he's special teams and big player for the patriots here's the latest. special teams captain matthew slater didn't participate in practice. he listed on injury report with a shin injury and did not practice. now pro football talk.com is saying patriots ruled him out for sunday's game and that is a big loss. despite that, the two teams have to play and levan reid says brace yourself for another epic classic. >> reporter: mutual respect
6:17 pm
>> playing someone 17 times is pretty cool so especially someone as great as him. >> reporter: this time around brady will have more of his offensive pieces. that will be a huge difference than their november matchup. >> great for us to have some of the guys back that weren't there's only two teams left standing and i think we feel like we are one of the best and they feel like they are the best team you know that's why it makes for a great game. >> reporter: as the pats do a walk through many of the conversations have to da with the quarterbacks but if new england doesn't stop the run sunday could be a long afternoon. >> i think bill said i think it was 10 games where they rush over a hundred yards and won 9. >> reporter: game talk will have been to master of disgeese manning doesn't have the arm stretching he used to have but makes maybe the -- strength he used to have but makes the best presnap reads and they have to make sure they don't tip anything off before every play.
6:18 pm
>> let's head out to the rocky mountains where dan is standing by with the broncos side of things. >> reporter: as you know we have been talking about this all week. always special when you get an opportunity to play an afc championship game and this is the 10th time in the last 15 years for one mr. tom brady. pretty special stuff. as for the other side of the football, we know of course with peyton manning a 17th possible final onfield battle between brady and manning. manning is 3-9 in the regular season against brady and 2-2 in the playoffs and when asked about brady today, manning praised number 12 for being one of the all time greats. >> all i can say about tom brady is that he plays the position the way it's supposed to be played and he's extremely talented and very hard worker and very competitive guy and he plays his position the right way and when you do that, there's a reason you play for a long time and you play well for
