12:16 pm
concerns too from north south carolina into north carolina saturday morning the snow is coming in new york city. it goes from light blue and snowfall. storm will intensify off the delmarva coastline and pass south and east nantucket saturday night. what it means for us is saturday morning's fine and saturday into the midday early right. areas of snow advancing from south to north saturday evening and there may be some concerns in the outer cape and then notice the farther north you go there's nothing. that is very sharp cut off a here in terms of the snowfall. and on the backside we may flip back over to snow on the cape as it pulls away from the region early on sunday morning. no change in terms of the early estimate. we are 48 hours out. low impact with a inch ofp or less in northern massachusetts a sharp cut off and we are thaig few inches possible from boston to near providence and a highest risk of to 6 inches along the south coast back over
12:17 pm
think about it. if the storm tracks farther south we are going to have to shift farther south and the same respect if it comes farther north and we will bump everything farther northward but the trend has been to suppress everything some of the moisture out along the south coast. want to talk about the wind. wind gusts projection 45 to 55 miles per hour from the northeast and then the wind behind the storm is going to shift out of the north. by sunday morning. and so, the strongest winds is directly at the shoreline especially from southern plight am -- plymouth to the cape. i wouldn't be surprised to see a isolated gust around 60. that's a strong wind that will churn up the seas. the seas will build and on top of that we have a full moon. so the weekend tides to watch saturday night at 11:0 #. whenever we have -- 11:02. whenever we have coastal flooding it's two hours before or after that.
12:18 pm
north and plymouth towards sandwich and cape cod bay may have to watch that. until then the weather is quiet. 30 in boston right now. but there's a wind out there. so the real feel is 17 tonight clear and blustery and we drop into the teens and the real feel is in the single digits waking up tomorrow morning. there's the weekend storm in and out of here quickly. quiet start to next week. little moderation into the 40s by tuesday and cooler again into the 30s by wednesday. chris. >> you said places like dc facing a historic snowstorm about are they readych last night an inch of snow that's all it is an inch of snow set the city into a tailspin. craig boswell has more. >> reporter: hundreds of crashes across the dc metropolitan area made the commute nearly impossible. backups lasted late into the night. the cause just an inch of snow that froze over. >> it's crazy out here. i know it seems like a little snow but it's really, really slick out here.
12:19 pm
better this morning but not much. truck drivers who had reached their shift limits who to pull over blocking lanes of some highways. >> fort bragg north carolina 12 hours ago i left at 7. got into traffic here. >> reporter: president obama also got stuck in the mess. the motorcade skidded along roads he's returned to the white house and last night dusting is nothing compared to what is ahead a major winter storm that could drop 2 feet of snow on the sit they over the next couple days. the mayor of dc apologized for wednesday night's debacle and says the city is ready for the next storm with 30,000 tons of salt 800 workers and 500 plows. >> i lived in dc most of my life and i don't know i lived through a forecast like this. extremely large storm it will last for 36 hours. >> reporter: much of the northeast is in the blizzard's cross hairs. storm surge is a big concern
