although in the extended forecast we could be tracking 50s. i will show you that in a minute. the count down continues to all the spring activities though. pitchers and catchers 22 days away and 53 days until spring officially begins. and boston marathon 82 days. and we have great running weather out there. temperatures in the 40s and upper 30s this afternoon. worcester reporting 37. boston and taughton 42. lawrence 42 degrees. and there's a slight breeze out there and we have gusty winds in a couple locations. downtown boston in particular, it's sustained wind from the west at 9 miles per hour. making that temperature feel like 37 degrees as opposed to the technical temp of 42. wind gusts picked up this afternoon and between 25 and 30 miles p per hour in some locations here boston a gust of 20 but fitchburg up to 31 miles per hour. that's coming from the west. overnight tonight, dipping into the 20s and under a mostly clear skies. clouds will continue to break

right now the start time at the high schools are 7:40 and 7:50 in the morning. some studies show a later start time could give students more sleep and lower stress. but, students we spoke with conflicts with after-school being a nights agree we need more sleep but i don't think starting school later would help because then school would be pushed back and sports would be pushed back. so then you have to get your homework done until later and you wouldn't get anymore sleep than we do now. >> newton hopes to vote on the issue this spring and put changes into place by fall. this noon. still ahead call us the -- call it the oprah effect.
