here comes the storm. rain about to turn into heavy snow and blanket the roads. >>right now plows are gearing up to clean up. boston already canceling classes. many prepared to wake up to winters return. we have our eye on the storm and the snow coming for boston and dozen of school districts. we put the list at the bomb the screen. at last count about 106 closings. when will the snow start to fall? how will it affect the morning commute? >>a big change compared to the spring we have had over the past couple of days.

boston was were. higher snow totals are likely tomorrow. a bit to love tropical moisture from the gulf of mexico right of the eastern seaboard, kind of a firehose and it will start air. this is all moving up the east coast, this is the one we are watching it will come up and move into the area increasing rainfall tonight. we already see steady rain moving up to connecticut river valley. this will help us cool down more, we need to cool down a lot compared to the 50s today. 35 in orange, this is cold enough for snow and it will drop back. in boston we are in the mid- 40s. we will see this progress as we had through the night. after midnight snow starts to massachusetts. as we move through tomorrow morning's drive heavy rainfall moves to snow. as we head towards 6:00 that

and down to the boston area. it is still raining south and east, as we had deeper in the morning the line makes progress. also note all of the temperatures at or above freezing. many will have a heavy wet snow fall and that will be the type that you want to shovel as you go. looking toward the late morning the snow line clears the cape and heads towards nantucket and then in the afternoon we start wrapping things up. the main impact morning and midday and the snow totals are widespread, 4-8 inches of snowfall, 2-4 nw. and 2-4 around the cape they will see a lot of rain the lowest totals will be around nantucket. does the wind, not extremely strong but enough we could see power outages because of the heavy nature of the snow. for many schoolkids this will be the first snow day of

it is tough to imagine after an afternoon like this way up in the 50s. we were at 59 degrees, people walking around in shorts but things like this have happened before. the radar is already watching this area from new york down to dc, this is going to move up across new england. as that rain starts to fall are temperature start to drop. right now the rain is falling across the cape and some of it moving up to hartford and that will get the process started. right now 39 in worchester, the people who won't be looking at a lot of wet snow, this is where temperatures will drop in turn more to fluffy consistency. we are about to set a record for the warmest [ indiscernible ] temperature on date. looking at the trends as we head to the overnight snow breaking out in central massachusetts and then as we head towards the morning the snow line start to dive north

by 6 am boston area north shore it will start to change over to wet snow. the temperature above freezing means it does not actually quite as quickly and you get a mess. it will be heavy wet stuff. shovel as you go. through the morning part of the commute heavy snow is coming down anywhere from the seacoast right through the boston providence corridor into eastern connecticut. late morning that snowline heads down towards the cape, more progress by lunch bringing the snowfall across cape cod and finally across nantucket. when does it stop? it goes from west to east. i 4:00 [ indiscernible ] coming into boston, in the evening coming to cape cod. snow totals pretty wide 4-8 inch snow that includes places like hampton, newburyport, boston, providence and down to eastern connecticut. northwest worchester 2-4 inches. then toward the cape 2-4

rain before we make the switch. the cape cod totals will be low as well. terms of impact morning in midday hours that is the real heart of it. by early afternoon getting better especially to the west. by the evening much improved all across the region in terms of travel issues. talk about the wind, compared to a big storm system it is not that impressive but enough to cause power outages when the snow grips on the trees and power lines. temperatures stay in the 30s all day, as we head for the weekend things calm down. we cleanup more on saturday, pretty nice finished lots of sunshine with snow showers in northern england on sunday. both are looking at highs near 40. we will have sunshine sunday night not expecting any problems. next week is a different kind of weeks, much colder 30s everyday and we are watching our next snow chance which
