worcester right now. it's 16 in the city of boston. skies did temporarily clear out but now a few more cloud building back in worcester and the clouds will fill in and a couple snow showers as well. late morning until early evening is the time frame that these snow showers will be most numerous. scattered in nature just like mother nature but the winds will be squally in nature reduced visibility where they blow by and notice deeper blues. it may create a few slick spots because temperatures will be colder than yesterday. so a quick coating to as much as 2 inches i think that's isolated. you get the idea where they come through, you want to use caution. temperatures in the 20s rise to about 28 by lunchtime and that's when the most people in rouse snow showers come in and they will taper heading into the ride home with temperatures in the lower 20s. we will talk about the weekend cold coming up. let's get you on the road traffic and weather together. >> nice ride.

limiton 495 and 93 south. 128 in the mass pike are trouble free although you will see the usual minor delays at roadry. and -- rotary. and 95 route no delays. part of the mass pike shut down after a truck slammed into a brj abutment in sturbridge. the driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. massdot inspectors are checking the overpass for damage. overpass. all lanes of the pike have condition -- traffic is allowed on the overpass. all lanes on the pipe have been reopened -- pike has been reopened. police are searching for a driver as a victim speaks out. >> nicole jacobs is live with the story. good morning nicole. >> reporter: good morning to you chris and kathryn. i checked in with woburn police

the vehicle is still on the loose this morning. and in the meantime, the man who was hit says he held on for so long because he knew if he let go he would be dead. without a second to think. >> by the time i seen the car it was dead center on me. >> reporter: nor a moment to spare. >> i just got on the hood and held on for dear life. >> reporter: fred pica was in a death grip he never saw coming. >> i begged and pleaded please, please. >> reporter: according to police, tyson del goodo was -- delgado was behind the wheel. sur veil and images was tell the story. >> he was talking on the cell phone. >> reporter: the 65-year-old is lost his hold and delgado immediately took off. he was already wanted by police for a larceny and assault on an officer hours earlier. they searched for him finding only the car he ditched.

the doctor says i am a very lucky person. >> reporter: leaving him grateful he is only nursing a broken foot and mental scars not soon to be erased. >> these people don't have no courtesy for nobody else. >> reporter: again the man police say was driving the vehicle is still on the loose this morning. certainly anyone with information is urged to contact woburn police. nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. >> what a scary story thanks for the update. three men in custody following a tense stand off in boston last night. police say the three robbed a store clerk in dorchester and barricaded themselves inside a home nearby a hostage negotiator helped in the stand off and all three are now facing armed robbery charges. wareham police and state troopers investigating after a 750-year-old man was -- 70-year- old man was found shot to death in his home. officers were called for a well-

road and found john williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. they don't believe there's threat to the -- there's a threat to the public. police in maryland say two sheriff deputies shot at a panera restaurant may have been targeted. one deputy was killed inside the restaurant yesterday. the other was killed in a gun fight with the 68-year-old shooter who was also killed. prosecutors are deciding whether to retry a man just freed after 30 years in prison. george perrot was released in new bedford he was convicted of rape in 1985 even though the victim claimed someone else attacked her. the key piece of evidence was a single strand of hair found at the crime scene. but the method the fbi used to link it to perrot has been discredited. after 30 years in prison perrot admits he lost hope. >> absolutely of course i been in 30 years. for a courtroom i didn't commit of course i lost hope. >> i am so happy he has another

start over again. >> prosecutors argued the record of drug use and fights in prison should have been enough to keep him behind bars. the district attorney will keep him -- decide whether to try the case again. investigators in fitchburg are looking into the fire and what caused it after a woman was killed and badly injured two other people. the surviving siblings are at umass medical isn'ter in critical condition. the victims are in -- center in critical condition. victims are in their 50s and 60s and the chief says the fire is not suspicious. the republican field in the presidential race is smaller this morning. chris christie and carly fiorina are done. the 6 remaining candidates are onto south carolina. political analyst jon keller has a closer look. say you want a revolution well you know. >> reporter: donald trump insouth carolina walking on air from the big new hampshire win. but with victory comes risks. >> i am also not going to subpoenaed my time trying to -- spend my time trying to trash other people.

just about 5:08. thousands of cruise ship passengers have never been so happy to see a vacation come to an end. some even kissing the dry land as they left their royal caribbean ship. the anthem of the seas got stuck in our weekend storm out at sea over the weekend. with a hundred-mile-an-hour winds and 30 foot waves. some passengers said they weren't sure they would survive and a veteran captain we spoke with says the ship shouldn't have left port. >> i woke up and things were flying everywhere and we were pretty bad and waves were crashing and you could see the water coming up to your -- dish was on deck 8 and i could see water coming up to the balcony. >> to put a ship 18 decks high with 7,000 people in the middle that when you had a choice not to, it was in my opinion not the right decision to make. >> royal caribbean says four passengers suffered minor injuries. passengers will get a full

be an event in south korea in 2018. and a number of these athletes are trying to get a spot at that competition. the scaffolding goes 140 feet in the air and some of the athletes will be leaving the ramp at 40 miles per hour. it's pretty impressive stuff. and they are hoping having this event in the center of the city of boston will raise some awareness for this athleticism. they want people to be coming here and being fans of not just big popi but big air skiing and snow boarding and there's tickets available and they are hoping people will come out and i can tell u you looking at this ramp it's going to be person. live at -- tricks in person. susie steimle wbd this -- wbz this morning. >> we have to get her on a sled or something to go down that. >> i think she is scared. >> she will leave it to the

welcome back. morning. when the worst of the weekend storm passed one family in totally surrounded by water. >> that was not enough to let the daughter miss school. so tuesday morning leonie kelly loaded up in her dad's boat and he towed her to drier land war friend's parent drove her to school. she had to take the same trip home. >> it was really cute. >> a car-- by car and boat. >> you would have never known anything was wrong and she sound like my mom saying you have everything because you know i forgot something almost every day and i would have to call her. >> the story she had when you she got to school.

>> very true. the good thing is much different weather today in terms of no storm potential. >> no storm potential but still like yesterday it's scattered snow showers. nothing too substantial. we are talking about a quick coating to ionch in a few communities. 27 degrees in boston and the dew point 16. and real feel 16 and wind out of the west picking up even more 14 miles per hour and that wind may gust occasionally to 30 miles per hour this afternoon. that's going to add a bite to the air. the temperatures 16 in nashua one of the colder spots. most of us are in the 20s and we did clear out the skies the clouds are building back in and clouds will be with us today for a lot of the afternoon with some snow showers back across eastern long island and the south coast of connecticut right now. this batch is going to miss us to the south. but there's a cold front to the north and that's going to come in later on today and that's what is kenned of the trigger -- kind of the trigger for the scattered snow showers to develop.

morning that's when they start to move in and just like yesterday not everyone will see them but there may be deep blues and wind is gusty today. so, that's why they are more squally in nature and may reduce visibility and because the temperatures are a little colder than yesterday too, we are talking about a few slick spots that may result on the roads ment. and i think by 5 or 6 most of the activities done and a leftover flurry and a quick coating to as much as an inch as they come through. skies clear back out tonight and tomorrow and looking good. and sunshine to start and wind won't be as strong as today and clouds increase and another round of snow showers develop but it's late tomorrow after about 8 p.m. and scattered snow showers move in and it's ahead of an arctic front and that means business comes through saturday during the early morning hours. there will be a storm out over the ocean but the bulk of that moisture misses usch front comes through and kicks up the wind and our temperatures fall from around 20 early in the day

by saturday evening. we go subzero for our temperature on saturday night. we could be talking about record cold as we head into early on sunday morning. so makes today seem not as bad mid to upper 20s. and it will be chilly because that wind is going to kick up and stay with us for the day today. just playing things through to show you the real feel forecast is going to be running in the teens and this is what you want to dress for this afternoon and it drops into the single digits as we head into the evening hours. speaking of overnight tonight clear skies and temperatures cool off 11 in boston tonight and single digits in the suburbs tomorrow's highs a little cooler than today but it won't be as windy and it doesn't feel as chilly. accu-weather 7-day a few earlymorning snow showers on saturday and sunday will be around 12 degrees. wind chill in the morning is going to be 20 to 30 below zero and we rebound a bit heading into the start of next week. barry burbank had another

5th frayeders -- graders at mccarthy middle school and they do a ton of community service and this is. the tables where i know the guy is probably nervous too and is in a panic but i am not going to put up with what he is trying to do so then i ran over the counter and i tackled him and got him pretty good a couple times. >> we should snow it was the -- note this was the first it would have robberies. second minutes away at another market at a mile away. the suspect description look similar and detectives are trying to figure out if the two crimes are related. be aware if you have a jacket like this thieves may be targeted you. boston university police say they received more than a dozen reports of clothing thefts since september and most involve canada goose jackets. the coats cost as much as 1300 dollars and most of the thefts happen in the gym. harvard university received a record number of am cages for next fall's freshman class. more than 39,000 which is up 5% from last year.

a lot of focus on last night's celtics game dealt with welcoming pierce and doc rivers to the garden but after all that the c's needed to go into the all star break with a win. paul pierce good huge ovation from the garden fans during introduction. doc rivers received a hand from the faithful and celtics presented isaiah thomas with the all star game jersey and he will play in the first all star game this weekend in toronto. let's go to the fourth quarter and with a little over a minute to go he is down five and he isit's a little man. all star coming up big. final seconds after jordan misses two free-throws celts down 2 don't call a time out they don't need to. thomas so clutch and he finished with 36 and 11 and we are headed to overtime tied at 122. in the extra turner took over down low and that is just. of 6 super delegates. party officials who are free to go with any candidate they choose regardless of the vote. some of them could and perhaps will switch to sanders later on but those are the rules. think that's unfair, i am sure you got plenty of company. but there are plenty of things about the political process that could be considered unfair. the disproportionate media coverage donald trump enjoyed obsessive focus on gaps and personality at the expense of substance. the role big money plays in the race just to name a few. but all this unfairness places greater importance on how you the voter factor fairness into your decision making a friend of mine said he took the measure of political candidates by asking himself if i were lying on the sidewalk bleeding would he or she stop to help me? or step over me and keep on walking? and i think that's a pretty good way to go about it.

wants to increase the fines for people who violate the jaywalking law. under current law set in 1962, the fine for jaywalking in boston is one dollar. this new proposal would raise 25 dollars for the first offense. 50 for the second violation and 75 dollars for any further violations in the same year. boston police tell the globe yea walkers are rarely ticketed under the proposed law officers would be asked to enforce the rules. so a lot of you weighing in this morning asking what do you think about this proposal. will it prevent jaywalking? steve on facebook says it's a safety liability issue. pound the pedestrians with penalties but lynn says we have people with four, five and sometimes 8oui offense and we are worried about someone not crossing the street in marked lanes. you can comment on the daily talker at cbs boston.com or post on the facebook page. we will have more comments
