wind out of the west at 13 miles per hour and real feel is 8 below. we are only one degree in worcester and nashua single digits to the cape and skieshave cleared out and we are in for bright sunshine to will increase. so we make a rebound into the teens. that's about it by lunchtime. bright and chilly. today. so the strokest wind is right -- strongest wind is right now. it will feel like single digits and clouds lynn crease and the ride home. i am timing out snow on way for tonight into tomorrow morning. more details in a couple minutes kathryn. >> thanks very much. a school bus driver arrested accused of being drunk when he crashed into a utility pole. the driver knocked down live wires and while 11 students were on the bus. >> this morning he is heading to court. julie loncich has more. >> reporter: 11 students were on the way on the the school bus when it struck a utility pole in dudly.

thursday and police say the bus driver 42-year-old scott poi rier was intoxicated. the utility pole came on top of the bus. the students from shepherd hill high and dudley middle were evacuated safely and not hurt. field sobriety tests werconducted and police concluded he was under the influence of alcohol. as a result of the crash power to hundreds in the area was knocked out for hours in frigid conditions. superintendent expressing gratitude the students are okay. we reached out to the bus company a number of times and never heard back. the bus driver will be arraigned on friday. in dudley julie loncich wbz this morning. new details about a crash ray flynn. flynn says he passed out before crashing his car into a boston. that crash. flynn sways on his way home from a workout when he plowed

money interest i think a saddest victory -- a sanders victory would be a historical accomplishment. >> reporter: another exchange when clinton was pressed on ties to wall street. she observed that president obama took plenty of wall street money when he ran. but still took them on over policy and claimed she would do the same. it will be interesting to see if that helps her among african american voters in south carolina with the president's approval rating is sky-high. jon keller at large wbz this morning. >> also the republican presidential candidates are crisscrossing south carolina. 8 days ahead of the primary there. all them chasing front-runner donald trump with a chance to take him on in person during saturday night's debate. and you can watch it here live at 9 right here on wbz. jon keller will have analysis after the wbz news at 11. developing news right now, secretary of state john kerry says a cease-fire in syria could start in the next week.

negotiated the deal that would stop president assad from fighting his people and rebels would have to put down arms. he says it doesn't apply to the battle against the islamic state group. the bomb that exploded on a somali plane last week was made of sophisticated materials that passed through an airport x- ramachine undetected according to a report from cnn. investigators say the suspected bomber did have help on the ground that man was blown out of the plane when the bomb detonated. since the bombing security is airport. pope francis is on his way to cuba where he will meet with the leader of the russian orthodox church. he is trying to bridge the divide between the two religions that started a thousand years ago. it is the first time a pope and a russian patriarch met. they will meet at the airport and are expected to sign a joint declaration. the pope continues on a five- day tour of mexico. bill cosby's wife will have to answer questions under oath

massachusetts but a federal judge ruled yesterday that camille cosby can refuse to testify about any private conversations she had with her husband. her deposition is part of a defamation lawsuit filed by 7 women who claimed he sexually assaulted them. cosby's lawyer applauded the decision. a irish nanny charged with killing a baby and cleared is being sued by the baby's parents. ashley brady mccarthy spent more than two years in jail before prosecutors dropped murder charges. she returned to ireland shortly after the release in august. according to the globe the baby's parents are suing her forwrongful death. the baby's mother told the paper the suit is to make sure she doesn't make anymore money off their daughter's death. a man accused of attacking police officer and running down a pedestrian is behind bars and due in court this morning. police found tyson delgado hiding under a relative's bed in dorchester yesterday.

the man seen in this surveillance video driving that car hitting 65-year-old ed pica and dragging him on the hood for the-- of the car for several hundred yards. they questioned delgado in a larceny case when he assaulted aofficer and took off. coming up on wbz this morning a. drive through rhode island taking a toll. >> the new fee only some drivers will have to pay. >> plus uber selling a pair of class action lawsuits that will -- will customer see money. you. don't make it a snooze fest.

about retail sales in january. if americans spent more money last month it could help ease fears the u.s. is headed back into a recession. concern about the economy here and overseas is sending stock markets across the globe lower. asian markets plunged again this morning on wall street. dow fell 254 points yesterday. the nasdaq dropped 16. futures are pointing to a higher open right now. so we will see what today brings. uber wants to pay 28.5 million to settle two class action lawsuits. one concerns the safe ride fee that uber charged customers. the suit says it was not legit because they he never did thorough background checks on drivers a judge still needs to approve the deal. the pay out could be split among lawyers and 25 million riders. so, don't expect a huge check. and this val -- if valentine's day is not about chocolate and

tomorrow at 4 p.m. until noon on sunday including massachusetts except for south coast and cape war wind chill watch is in effect. this is dangerous doled. -- cold. the real feel this morning is pretty brutal too. 8 below zero is what it feels like in boston. 14 below in worcester. 4 below in manchester. subzero wind chills to the cape and island. so you need to be bundled up. don't need me to tell you that. it's because of the wind adding the bite to the air gusting near 30 miles pr hour in boston and20 to 30 for the rest of us. actual temperatures single digits for most of us. it's only one in worcester to nashua. boston at 8. this is tied for the coldest so far this season. another 8 degree reading in the beginning of january. otherwise the skies are cleared out so the sun is going to be shining early this morning. and then the clouds increase. the real story of course is the cold and you think we are cold but temperatures are below zero back in eastern canada.

to stream into new england especially by the time we get to overnight tomorrow and into sunday morning. that's when the heart of the cold air comes in. but here comes the arctic front. today what you notice is sun this morning and then increasing clouds. by this evening 9, 10, some snow is breaking out along the south coast with an ocean storm passing well to the east. but may clip the cape and islands with snow into overnight and very early tomorrow morning. and scattered coatings for the rest of us as the snow shower comes in and it's about the cold and winds. the wind whips up tomorrow and feels like it is below zero. and high pressure means a beautiful looking day but we will not get out of the single digits for many communities. so, the snow that falls tonight into tomorrow morning is a scattered coating but the greatest risk of picking up perhaps one to three inches of a very fluffy snow would be from south side of plymouth and islands. again time frame probably be

glid 4:53. checking top stories a dudley school bus driver accused of driving drunk and crashing a school bus with kids inside is due in court today. police say scott poirier was drunk when he crashed into a pole. no one on the bus was hurt not even the students but the accident knocked out power to the neighborhood which has since been restored. former boston mayor ray

boston. mayor flynn says he was coming home after working out yesterday and was trying to park at the time of the crash. no one else was hurt. but he says he has a concussion and building inspectors are making sure the damage to the home is structurally okay. the two presidential hopefuls on the democratic side battled it out last night. hillary clinton attacked sanders' proposal saying it was unrealistic and sanders says big ambitions are courageous. >> i have been very specific about where i would raise the money, how much it would cost and how i would move this agenda forward. >> and let us be clear that every proposal that i have introduced has been paid for. >> this is the last democratic debate before super tuesday when voters in massachusetts and 13 other states will head to the polls. massachusetts leaders taking new action in the opioid crisis.
