lows this weekend. say it ain't so. >> subzero temperatures saturday night into sunday morning. it's going to be brutal. we are getting started. the real feel this morning is 8 below zero in boston. and it's 14 below zero in worcester and this is just the start of the frigid weekend. this air is coming straight from the arctic. it's the coldest since last february and below zero on sunday morning boston worcester likely to be right near the record cold lows and that means dangerous wind chills and we have a wind chill warning in effect 15 to 35 below zero what it feels like. you can develop frostbite in as little as 10 minutes in the conditions. meantime, it's 8 degrees in boston this morning. this is the coldest we have hadtied for the coldest and we have had one in the beginning of january. west wind kicking up gusting over 20 miles per hour. now dropped to zero in worcester and two below in keene but skies are clear and we are in for plenty of sunshine. a beautiful start for the day with bright sunshine. you want to be bundled up in layers.

was hurt. this is his mug shot. 42-year-old scott poirier eyes closed and intoxicated police say. he was a driver of a school bus that crashed into a utility pole thursday. the one that knocked out power to hundreds on hayden pond road and beyond in dudley. it was a frigid night and according to police, it was his actions that led to the evacuation of nearly a dozen students simply on their commute home from shepherd hill high and dudley middle schools. no one was hurt in the crash. it was a failed field sobrietytest that led to and day in court. power has been restored in the areas this morning. again he is expected to be arraigned in court today. live in dudley nicole jacobs >> thank you. ray flynn recovering this morning after crashing his suv

we are learning more about what happened. susie steimle is live with the new details. >> reporter: good morning chris. we are on flint place in south boston where the former mayor was driving last night. you can see the damage from the accident e talked to police last -- he talked to police last night and said was on his way home from a morning workout when he blacked out and crashed into his neighbor's home. fortunately no one was seriously hurt. construction crews spent thursday afternoon boarding up the house in where a suv put a hole. >> the the downstairs and upstairs unit have to leave and we don't know for how long until the engineers tell us it's okay to stay robs kelly lynch and her -- stay here. >> reporter: kelly lynch and her roommates know who did it and that made them less frustrated. >> our neighbor across the way had driven his car into the basement.

right now. same in falmouth. 4 below in chatham and 14 below in worcester. that reading comes from the worcester airport a thousand feet in elevation. but no matter how you cut it, it's brutal. stepping outside this morning the wind is gusting occasionally over 20 miles per hour. 20 to 30 on the cape. actual temperature 8 in boston right now. this is tied for the coldest morning so far this season. and zero degrees in worcester right now. skies have cleared out so we are in for bright beautiful sunshine. don't forget the shades as you head out this morning. there are a couple scatteredsnow showers to the west. this will clip us with light snow this evening and tonight so most of today is quiet dry no problems it's just the cold. winds will subside through the day today. briefly. and then this evening, after about 8, 9:00 pockets of snow develop along the south coast and cape. we may get into a scattered snow shower tonight. and pockets of light snow is pretty much gone by tomorrow morning.

disturbance that comes in. bulk of the moisture stays out to sea and it's about the cold. wind whips up and may gust 40 to50 miles per hour at the coast. up to 40 miles per hour inland and then high pressure builds in means plenty of sunshine for sunday but that's when the heart of the cold air comes overhead. so snowfall tonight until early tomorrow morning. and it's a scattered coating here with maybe a snow shower that comes through. and the greater risk of picking up one to three inches and it will be a fluffy consistency because it's so cold from plymouth back down to the cape and islands. there may be a couple isolated spots that end up with closer to 4 inches of fluff because it's so cold we can pile up the snow quicker. that's tonight into early tomorrow morning. today, the clouds increase and temperatures in the 20s. tonight, similar to this morning we drop into the single digits and teens for most of us. highs tomorrow, don't get out of the teens. 19 in boston and we will fall pretty quickly into the single digits and then saturday night

they said while we would get storms they would tend to be mixed precipitation events that wouldn't bury us under 10 feet of snow and ice and that's exactly what has happened. and they said whatever accumulation we did get would not hang around forever like last winter and again they were right. i double checked with eric last night and he assures me the nasty shot of cold we are getting the next few days will be temporary. followed by a nice warmup. and that while we are due for a fair amount of storm activity the rest of the month-- it should follow the pattern. we know from experience once we get to march nothing that happens will last very long. i am sure i speak for many of us when i say this has been akin to called into the bosses office expecting the worst and to be told you are getting a promotion and raise. or like getting set up on a blind date by your aunt fearing a nightmare and in walks the person of your dreams. we needed this winter to be lenient.
