a big warning from fire officials after a busy day inweymouth. investigators think this started from someone trying to thaw out frozen pipes in the kitchen. around $300,000. and a failed chimney is likely to blame for a fire on commercial street in weymouth. crews battling the fire had to open up the side of the home and roof as flames spread through the walls. smoke alarms helped to get everyone outside safely. total loss. fire crews worked hard to make sure the fire didn't spread to any neighboring homes. no word on what started the fire but 14 communities and apartments helped battle the fires. firefighters want to remind everyone to check smoke alarms and have your chimney inspected. the cold weather is making it difficult for scenes on a

weekend and go to 50s for highs tomorrow. we have a big warmup on the way but it's another frigid start. 5 degrees in boston right now. 5 behoe in taunton. -- below in taunton. 11 below in keene. there's a wind that's not going to be nearly as strong as yesterday but creates a real feel subzero across the board right now. 8 below what it feels like in boston. 16 below zero in worcester and 10 behoe in concord. and 18 below in portland maine. we have clear skies so we will start with sunshine and the clouds will advance in pretty quickly. that's ahead of a disturbance to the south a lot of moisture areas of snow right now from dc back to virginia and north carolina and more moisture down to the south. this is going to develop into a storm and track to the west of new-land which is a warmer scenario, but we had record cold and 50s tomorrow. there has to be some sort of transition in between. and that comes in later this evening and overnight tonight.

cloud will thicken up but snow will arrive between about 4 and 8 p.m. across connecticut and western massachusetts and through worcester county. between 8 and 10 it fills in for a lot of massachusetts. notice the transition over to rain pretty quickly along the south coast. and that rain snow line will press northward between let's say 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. notice the pink that indicates pockets of freezing rain and sleet. so that will happen for a brief period during the first part of the overnight and we will transition over to rain showers by the time we get to tomorrow morning. and speaking of tomorrow we jump into the 50s and we get scattered showers rain showers because we are warm. and then by 5 p.m., steadier pockets of rain and downpours move in. look at this rain. we are talking about a line of downpours maybe thunderstorms that rumble through during the late evening tomorrow and pushes offshore and then out of here and we get clearing that comes in on wednesday and

afternoon. so snowfall tonight generally a coating to an inch. a little if anything and this is going to be washed away with that. greater risk of picking up perhaps one to three inches comes from 495 through the merrimack valley and worcester hills through southern new hampshire that. will be washed away tomorrow as the rain comes in. so speaking of rain about a half an inch to an inch and a half. those are blue areas for most of eastern massachusetts. there may be locally higher amounts over an inch and a half through the lower connecticut river valley. the wind is going to be an issue as well. we have a high wind watch that is has been issued from the coastline of maine back down including eastern massachusetts and the city of boston. that comes into effect tomorrow afternoon and evening. we may see gusts briefly up to 50, 55 miles per hour tomorrow afternoon and evening. that will be strong enough to cause pockets of damage. again it's out of here wednesday and sun breaks out temperatures in the 40s and turning cooler again to end the
