planned. it is a live look at boston this noon where he feels more like spring now, temperatures are in the 50s, already for many communities. at this morning it was a whole different story. freezing rain and ice causing very slick conditions. that afternoon, thank you for being here with us, i am catherine hauser, chris is on assignment. what a difference a day makes. boston's temperature changed more than 30 degrees in less than 24 hours. meteorologist, danielle niles is here. are you getting whiplash from this forecast? what an influx of temperatures >> whiplash in the sense of this wind that will start to of the day today. it is remarkable to watch this region. the temperature in boston is 49 degrees. it has taken a little bit of rise in southern new hampshire we are above freezing from manchester back down to nashua. pittsburgh still sitting at 3432 in concord.

rescuer boston harbor. friday-- and frightening sinking tugboat. the water temperatures just 37 degrees, susan -- susie is live in boston with a look at this story. >>reporter:it was a very close call out on the harbor, this morning, these three men were pulled from the freezing cold water, and the man who rescued them says he just happened to be in the right place, at the right time. >> i was on the other side of the airport here, and we heard the distress call to the coast >>reporter:joe maloney just happened to be drifting in the on board the chelsea with a boston pilots association when ordinarily, he would be docked around 6 a.m., but this day, he was moving more slowly than usual. >>reporter:he just happened to be close by, when a tugboat started sinking fast. >> they started taking on

them they did not know if they would survive. they were happy to make that phone call and let them know they were safe, on ground. back to you. he's police are investigating a theft at a gun shop, and alarm brought officers this morning. there, they found the front door the thieves stole for for pistols, investigators think new hampshire gun shop earlier this month may be responsible. these are surveillance pictures from the break in boston firefighters rushed to a senior housing complex in dorchester, this morning. they cannot see much from the outside, but inside the flames damaged broke the second and third floors. and there is no water in the electric system. investigators say an electrical short in the wiring caused the fire. all 46 seniors who live

this weekend 51 wester, there are still some pockets of cold air trying to hang on. but we are now above the freezing mark in pittsburgh 33, look at that 55 right now from norwood back to plymouth. between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., the steadiest rain we will pick up .5 inches up to 1.5 inches in some spots. powerful damaging winds in eastern massachusetts, too. i do not want that to catch people by surprise. but the winds is going to be quite active later on today. it will gust 50-62 miles per hour later on this afternoon and evening. doppler radar right now shows the showers, but they are generally light. 55 brockton, but pockets of light rain pushing through 128, any freezing rain is now north

extending into western new hampshire. a tween now and let's say 3 o'clock, more of this scattered shower activity. then into worcester county comes those bands of steady rain between two-3 p.m. into the city of boston between three-4 p.m. your evening commute is a totally different beast than this morning. heavy rain, torrential downpour's, we go 55-60, there may be some strong wind gusts and heaviest downpours that come in between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in eastern massachusetts. then we start to dry things out . the cape and the islands it takes a little bit longer until about 8:30 or 9 p.m. to get that study is been to move offshore. forecast wind gusts here, that wind out of the south-southeast arts to ramp up over the next couple of hours, just over 50 -- 50 miles per hour, we may see some gusts that top out around 60.
