cbs news declared hillary the clint -- hillary clinton the winner of the nevada caucus. she started saturday visiting casino workers on the strip. clinton held a commanding lead for months in nevada in the polls showed sanders had closed the gap. this was the first tast for the democratic candidate. a. >> sanders kicked off his day with culinary workers. the vermont senator said he was hoping for large well -- large clouds. >> if there are large crowds we will do fine. if it's a low turnout that mine to be another point. >>reporter: democrats gathered in a handful of caucus sites. >> unions give workers a paid

joined him to stump for votes. polls close at 7:00 tonight in been a bruising primary. we will have the results of this key contest tonight at 11:00 and we will be here in other news now. and inferno erupted in a vacant rear general alarm. investigators believe the fire is suspicious. him smith is live in fall river tonight where the rubble is still smothering -- smoldering there. jim? >>reporter: katie, it's hard to believe. this fire is still burning. it's been burning for about 15 hours. is better than it was. at its high this fire was one gigantic ball of flame that could be seen for miles. the huge fire at the historical mill building began at 3:00 a.m. gigantic flames shooting into the night sky and the brick structure fully involved. fortunately the building was vacant and fire crews had a

>> these mill windows are large. there were eight large windows and flames were coming out on all sides. we've had problems with this mill before. there are no sprinklers to the mill to put out the fire. took more than 12 hours later the fire was not complete -- >>reporter: more than 12 hours later the fire was not completely out. the police could be seen by everyone in the city. >> i thought at around 3:00 a.m. and the flames were well over the surrounding buildings. it was insane. >> a huge inferno? >> yes. >>reporter: the fire -- the five-story mill building dates back to the 18 80s. everybody is thankful the fire did not spread to other buildings. >> i'm glad no one got hurt. i am not sure that this building was ever used for anything -- i'm just glad

>>reporter: once again you are looking at the skeleton if you will of this old mill building. it's obviously total loss. you can see the outline and make out smoke as we said all of these hours later this fire is burning but the good news is nobody was hurt. that's excellent news obviously in the investigators are treating this as a suspicious fire but they are only just beginning their work. live in fall river, jim smith, wbz news. back to you, kate. between spring and winter continued today. it snowed last night but temperatures soared well into the 50s. first look at the amazing >>reporter: it is really amazing. the extremes continue because last saturday the high was 24. today that high in boston 60 degrees. last saturday before midnight it went to four below zero in boston and the low this morning was 33 but it will be anywhere near that tonight. a mild night of their with these current temperatures

later tonight warm to the south and chillier to the north. cooler weather on its way. we will still be above average. there are a couple of showers and the leading edge of the cold front coming our way. the might be a brief shower otherwise we will see some sunshine tomorrow and i will let you know how it fluctuates when i see you back in a few minutes. kate. it was a somber morning as friends and family attended the funeral of a 3-year-old boy. he was found unresponsive in his home. today his young life was remembered at the united house of prayer for all people the cause of death is under investigation. tragedy this morning. an elderly woman was killed when a two alarm fire engulfed her home. she's the state's 12th fire death this year.

>>reporter: this scorched mattress shows just how intense this fire was to claim the life of 73-year-old carol mccarthy who was found on the second floor. >> it's a tragedy. any time that there's a loss of life in a fire. >> deputy fire chief said the fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. inside this two-story home on to live in east central street. >> the initial companies that came in discovered a whole and the second floor bedroom where the victim was found. they were able to navigate the hole. >> we woke up to a lot of fire engines so we can be down to see if everybody was okay. >>reporter: when the fire crews arrived they found the woman unconscious in a bedroom and they have to use a ladder to take her out of the window on the stretcher. she was taken to the hospital where she later passed away. >> it is hard.

supreme court justice antonin scalia was remembered today as a man who loved god, man, and country. >> the mass was solemn but there was humor. katie is in the satellite center with more. >> morning for justice scalia in the capital paused for the funeral mass. thousand paid their respects to supreme court justice antonin scalia. his sons and sons-in-law carried the basket. reverend paul scully out gave the homily and added a personal touch. >> the issue that evening is not that i have been hearing confessions but that he had found himself in my confessional line. the low will be 40 -- 40 nine. we are taking a look at snow and cold which we do not have like we had last year and up to this point last year we had 61.5 inches of snow in february and almost 100 inches for the season and so far the season with 1/10 inch of snow. club 60 and the high school 60 degrees today that's what it was in boston and now it's back some cooler air off to the north. by the northern in areas picked up 3-6 inches of snow and now they are getting rain. at least they had a net gain of snow. look how warm the whole nation really is. it's incredibly warm. we have a shot of cooler air coming down thanks to this cold front which is on its way and may produce a brief shower in a few areas off to the north was to boston.
