live from the channel 4 studios in boston, wbz news at noon starts right now. >> now at noon tracking part 2 of our midweek storm. get a live look at the radar. this massive storm covering much of the eastern half of the country. >> it's the same system that brought this devastating and deadly weather along the gulf coast including a number of tornadoes. >> our weather back here at home will not be as severe. >> but we are not out of the woods. danielle you are tracking rain and potentially damaging winds. >> yes a little bit of both. this is more of a map you would see towards maybe april or may with severe weather up and down eastern seaboard.

carolina through virginia but we too here in southern new england have a very slight risk of a few embedded thunderstorms in here. the time frame of that is during the predawn tomorrow where a couple of those storms could be a little on the stronger side. not nearly as severe as what they are experiencing to the south. the story for now is a couple pockets of 32 cogee -- degree weather. worcester could have a few slippery patches outi'd 495. 40s -- outside of 495. couple showers out of somer set and -- somerset and a couple lighter showers in between north redding and stretching back up on the south side so you want the wet weather gear with you. between now and mid afternoon pockets of rain are going to fill back in. and notice it takes longer to kind of scour out the cold air in southwest new hampshire. this is the map at 4 p.m. outside 128, you will notice the exception cape and islands are removed from steady rain until overnight tonight and

through the 40s and into the 50s tonight. when we get to about 2 a.m., 58 degrees in boston with a band of heavier rain and downpours from west to east could see some embedded thunderstorms early tomorrow morning. and 6 a.m. heavey rain pushing in side the 495 and it's wet start to the commute and improvement as we head into the tail end of the commute with breaks of sunshine in -- commute with breaks of sunshine. the wind will be a concern high wind watches from midnight tonight until 8 p.m. tomorrow. we will break down the wind gusts hour by hour in a couple minutes. >> thanks very much. appreciate it. that severe weather we mentioned in the gulf coast left three people dead in dozens of -- and dozens of others hospitalized. destroyed. kenneth craig reports ors four homes leveled on this block in pens -- report. >> reporter: four homes leveled on this block in pensacolathis

>> i pushed her in there and went in behind her and when she opening this door. >> it was something you never never. >> reporter: despite all of the damage, no major injuries are reported in pensacola. and convent louisiana crews are searching for additional victims in the trailer park. at least 2 people are dead and sent mobile homes flying. >> there are family members contact with loved ones and that they know were in the area. >> reporter: another twister blew the roof off this gym in prairieville. >> 35 people were here working employees and people just working out and had about 8 kids in the day care so a scary situation. >> reporter: forecasters expect the nasty weather to move north. heavy rain and possible tornadoes are in the forecast for the carolinas.

this afternoon an accused drunk driver will be arraigned from a hospital bed after a chain reaction crash. >> video shows the man falling on his face before being put under arrest. now he is in the hospital getting ready to face serious charges. nicole jacobs is following this and is live with more. >> reporter: chris, kathryn we have been waiting here at quincy district court for thomas mohan to appear before a judge. now he will be arraigned from south shore hospital after last night's serious crash. a look at this cell phone video is easy to see a sobriety test gone bad. the man walking the line is thomas mohan falling on his face and struggling to stand. >> just a massive crash. >> reporter: michael heard it from his washington street business and called 911. >> by the time we ran out here, the cars were stopped and a lot of dust in the air.

was driving the minivan and hit a 39-year-old pedestrian and slammed into a truck allegedly drunk and high. >> the driver of the minivan was quite upset and obviously with the police. shock right now. >> reporter: a woman at his home says she had no knowledge earlier. the 51 yr old's driving record is far from clean. and fractions span nearly 30 years adding more to the list tuesday. accompanied with behavior he will have to explain in court. the pedestrian we are told suffered life-threatening injuries and is still in the hospital at this hour again. mohan will be arraigned from the hospital later this afternoon. live in quincy nicole jacobs wbz news. at noon a deadly crash is under investigation in randolph a15-year-old east boston girl

bill shields is following the story for us a joins with us much more hi. >> reporter: hi. this happened let me show you this happened on north main street and in the crosswalk where you see the black jeep. she was crossing about 8:00. the car that hit her according to police had a green light. >> it looks like a accident at this point a terrible accident. but we are investigating with our accident reconstruction unit and with the district attorney's office. >> reporter: she was just 15 and come to ran doll to have visit a friend. but about 8 last night, lara vierra started to cross the street and it was snowing heavily and she was struck by a car and killed. the driver did not take off. >> the driver stopped at the scene and identified himself and spoke to the officer on scene. >> reporter: the investigation is still early but they are

the nephew of ethel kennedy was accuse-- convicted of killing his neighbor. he was freed in 2013 on 1.2 million dollars bail after the judge granted a new trialch judge said his lawyer failed to adequately represent him. the court is not expected to rule today. right now police are trying to track down a missing holbrook mother. judith sales vanished after leaving her job as a pharmacist at walgreens. her husband reported her missing when show didn't pick up their son that day. her family says this is out of character for her and police pinninged her cell pone in connecticut. but -- cell phone in connecticut but since then the phone has been turned off. they activated the lojack on the car. surveillance video shows 22- year-old zachary marr leaving a boston bar and walking towards the charles river. dive teams search the water

a half ago after a night out. a warning about a skimming scam at a local convenience store. take a look. officers say the two people put a device on an atm at a cumberland farms to steal information. other skimming devices have been found recently in attleboro bedford westwood and hingham. in brookline police are asking neighbors to be on alert after burglaries. 6 homes have been hit in the the last week n all cases someone forced their way in through a back door or window. most of the robberies were not far from the brookline hills mbta stop. it's a new beginning for an old staple. >> charlie sandwich shop in the south end holding the grand reopening today. it closed temporarily in june 2014. charlie's has been a boston institution since 1927. it was one of the first restaurants in the city to serve black customers during segregation.

this noon. severe weather along the gulf coast at least three people are dead and dozens more missing. >> the storm ripped through neighborhoods leveling homes as you can see at least 26 tornadoes were reported including ones in florida and mississippi and alabama. in one louisiana trailer park the tornado ripped through the area uprooting power lines and tossing cars around and destroying homes. one man had to hide with the family in a bathroom as the tore wadeo -- tornado rolled through. >> i got in the the bathtub with my dog and they were praying and i was crying and i

the hot house wouldn't stop shaking. >> the storm is now bringing a tornado threat to parts of the atlantic coast including the carolinas and virginia. >> and danielle you said the same system is what's bringing us heavy rain and possibly damaging winds. >> yes. so those are the biggest threats heavy rain and damaging wind gusts. there will be a couple thunderstorms possible but we are not talking about severe weather and tornadoes like down to the south. right now there's a few tornado warnings in the carolinas. so, that threat is going to be through the early afternoon in a lot of spots. we will take you to at least the timeline here of what's next here in new england. round 2 arrives later today. the heaviest rain tonight and tomorrow morning 2 to 7 a.m. when you wake up tomorrow morning, it's going to be wild. areas of rain wind and even a thunderstorm. temperatures in the 50s and damaging wind gusts to 60 miles southeastern massachusetts. early tomorrow morning, kind of coinciding with the the heavier downpours and again, kind of second round of strong wind

tomorrow andn southeastern massachusetts. we will talk more about that in a second. in the meantime, we are cold and chilly across the interior. 32 in worcester. same in springfield vermont. 34 nashua but you can see the line from 41 in boston 30th north and west of town but above freezing from concord to manchester. we are near 50 from taunton to new bedford. upper 40s on the cape and 53 on tan nugget -- nan tublght. the warm air will -- nantucket. the warm air will continue to surge in overnight tonight. couple showers and a gloomy feel. zooming into a few from taunton to the north side of lakeville and carver and shower coming through. same when you get duxbury beach a quick shower. but additional rain through new york that's the next batch that builds in through the afternoon. and then we got our storm system to the west.

right now in illinois and indiana. and there's a 240r neighedo -- tornado warning in parts of north carolina. we are not getting the snow on the backside. we are really pulling in that warmth and talking about warming temperatures overnight. so with that, any leftover pockets of freezing rain in southern new hampshire down over the next couple hours. through this time we get to the evening commute. still areas of rain even some downpours generally outside of 495. notice the cape is generally removed. we have scattered showers through the evening. and the heaviest band by far comes in west to east after midnight tonight. heavy downpours reduced areas of visibility and ponding of water on roads and some too. so the morning commute tomorrow 4:30 up early, still areas of downpours. look at that between 6, 7:00 we are starting to taper things off. and in fact the tail end of the morning commute is better than the early part with breaks of sunshine possible and a lone tomorrow afternoon.

through the course of the morning hours. projected rainfall totals, the blue indicates half an inch to an inch and a half. western massachusetts particularly the lower connecticut river valley into the berkshires could see amounts that top out over 2 inches. rainfall done right the wind will keep going. so the forecast wind gusts over 50 miles per hour. overnight tonight, and into very early tomorrow morning. that's when we could see gusts to top out near 60. scattered damage and also outages likely particularly in southeastern massachusetts. where the heaviest bands come in. by 8 a.m. the rest of the afternoon windy day but not damaging until late afternoon and evening. another little surge of strong winds not associated with rain comes in gusts 40 to 55 miles per hour tomorrow late afternoon and evening. may cause additional damage or pockets of that as it comes through. it's all about the wind tomorrow once the rain pulls out. 38 on friday. we drop by 20 degrees.
