on the job for less than 24 hours, a young officer gunned down, killed in the line of duty just a day after she was sworn in. tonight we know officer ashley grew up here in new england. >> she graduated from high school back in 2005 and was a marine corps reservist. last night she was responding to a do domestic violence call when she was shot. the police chief spoke about losing his new officer. >> our condo lances go out lances go out to her family. we're asking for thoughts and prayers as we monitor the conditions of our other two officers who remain hospitalized.

serious. we have the latest with jim. >>reporter: police here in worcester in the middle of an intense investigation, and it all has to do with a very disturbing incident that happened earlier today downtown. we want to show you video now that we obtained earlier today of investigators here at the scene. according to multiple scanner reports, police are looking for the driver of a minivan who is said to have backed over two pedestrians and then allegedly struck them again before taking off. the victims were taken to the hospital with what are described as serious injuries. police reportedly are looking for the minivan possibly operated by a female driver. worcester police have not released official information, but as we could see, investigators were here the balance of the afternoon collecting evidence. this is a very busy street on sunday mornings and early

they have a flea market here every week, and at that is apparently where it happened. police are trying to get clues and catch up with the driver, and two people with hospitalized unfortunately with serious injuries. jim smith, wbz news. another developing story tonight in chelsea where police are investigating a suspicious death of a man found on a sidewalk early this morning. investigators say the 34-year- old victim was discovered on cottage street at about 5 a.m. arriving officers tried to help him at the scene, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital where he later died. the district attorney takes over the investigation, and police are not yet releasing the name. a dog is right back where it belongs after a car crash on the runway. a reunion when its owner got into a car accident. frankie ran off when the accident happened, but a good
