here at mayor make high. this is the same school the slain office are attended -- officer attended and graduated from. hundreds pray in memory and honor of a fallen rookie officer. her first day on patrol in virginia was prince william county police ended with her losing her life. >> we will continue one step at a time in honor of ashley. it was credit for her memory and selfless service. >> reporter: ronald hamilton shot and killed his wide before opening fire killing guindon officers. >> it was scary i heard 4 to 5 shots back to back. >> reporter: hamilton surrendered. the 32-year-old active duty the pentagon. in ashley's hometown mourners grieve leaving flowers at her mother's doorstep. >> so sad to see someone so to be killed.

former marine corps reservist graduated from 2005 from merrimack high school. >> the fact this is an individual who ho was a member of our community makes it more difficult for us to reconcile. >> reporter: and that murder suspect is due in court later today. as far as two other injured officers they are expected to survive. reporting live, chantee lans wbz this morning. >> thank you. the investigation is underway into a police shooting in dartmouth. officers were responding to a domestic incident involving a mother and son. police say 23-year-old ryan kuphal took off in car and they tracked him to bush street where they say he charged at them with a knife. officers say they tried to subdue him with a tasar but that didn't stop him so one officer fired his weapon and hit him. he is recovering in the hospital. worcester police are searching for the driver who hit two pedestrians and then took off from the scene. witnessa witness says he saw a

a woman run over a husband and wife yesterday afternoon. he says the couple and their daughter were just leaving aflea market and the daughter pleaded with the driver to stop. >> no doubt she knew she hit somebody. >> yeah according to the guys this we baking on windows you know. conop telling you something right stop or roll your window down or something. but the lady was in shock and kept going. >> the husband was treat and released from the hospital -- treated and released from the hospital. wife has serious injuries. multiple witnesses saw the driver and did get down a license plate number. 5:05. new details a new report claims that the death of a new hampshire woman may not have been random. the union leader says 62-year- old denise robert was targeted. police won't say why or whether they have any suspects. robert was shot and killed last summer on her regular walk in manchester. to campaign 2016. tomorrow voters in

polls for super tuesday. new this morning, we are getting a closer look at how voters in the state are leaning. a new wbzumass amherst poll shows hillary clinton with a slim lead 47% to 44%. they have been tied before. 9% of massachusetts democrats are still undecided. wbz political analyst john keller says it could be a cliff hanger. >> reporter: overwhelmingly by a 3 to 1 margin voters identified bernie sanders as the candidate whose views reflect their own. why? well if you look at some of the other qualities that voters want, likely democratic primary voters that is, they includebeing a strong leader, having a lot of experience, and being electable in november and clinton cleans sandersa clock. >> to the republicans donald

47% marco rubio ted cruz tied for second with 15%. he is ahead 32 points john kasich is third at 11% and ben carson at 2%. 10% of the republican voters are undecided and jon keller says trump issues like immigration and homeland security is resonating with voters here. >> reporter: trump has tapped into a large vain of public opinion -- vein of public opinion that likes his defiance of so-called political correctness and responded strongly from an early date here in massachusetts and he held that lead and appears to be holding it. it's not winner take all, all marco rubio he ted cruz and john kasich can hope for is to get enough of a turn out so they walk away with at least some delegates. trump is going to be the big winner it appears like a sure thing. >> the the margin of error for each poll is 6%.

39 in worcester and 40s for most of us. it's a pretty warm start to the day. 48 taunton to falmouth. colder aclose the -- across the lower connecticut valley. clear skies overhead. sunshine out of the gates. but, look at the showers back to the west. they are making fast eastward progress so this is a cold front that will come through this afternoon. and it marks the leading edge of cooler air. so it's 50 right now in new york city and dropping into the 30s and 20s and teens and single digits so we get colder air that's going to make its way back into the region tomorrow. it will be back to normal as we flip the calendar to march tomorrow. so hour by hour today we are doing all right but the clouds advancing quickly from lunchtime onward. a couple showers not everyone will see them but they will linger until the early evening. south of boston from the south shore back down to the cape and 7:00 they are done clearing comes in and some colder air will spill into the region tonight.

55 to 60 and just like yesterday, the wind will be a little gusty at times to 30, 35 miles per hour making it feel a touch cooler and tonight, dropping back into the 20s in some of the suburbs. notice bedford at 28 and same in fitchburg and 25 in jaffrey and 31 in boston and 30s on the cape and there may be a stray sprinkle or flurry that comes back through the worcester hills that's a shot of colder air coming in. and tomorrow, high pressure builds in and looks like a nice high temperatures will top out in the low 40s as opposed to yesterday. and then the next storm we are turning our attention to tuesday night and wednesday a round of rain because we are warm enough there's no worries about any wentry precipitation that will be across northern wednesday morning, areas of rain that rain will come down hard for a brief period and from the morning until the early afternoon. and then late in the day, we get some partial clearing that comes in.

from the north fine. from the south expressway getting busy braintree to boston. no issues from hingham. 24 north and 59 north speed limit rights. >> thank you very much. it's just 5:19 on your monday morning. armed officers on a local college campus are getting a closer look today. the boston city council is holding a public hearing at 5 tonight to discuss northeastern university's decision to arm the officers with semiautomatic rifles. the school says this they neerifles in case of emergencies but boston police officials say it's not eastern. it's one of more than 60 police force that is has rifles. the mbta will announce they are making progress on the losses. the globe is reporting the t cut the deficit by 43% and that's thanks to decrease this overtime spending materials and services and increase in advertising revenue and real estate. but they say they need to raise fares to help address

there will be a summit to improve the regional rail system. stephen lynch is hosting the event in boston who is worried about rail safety amid budget cuts and governor baker and mayor walsh will be there. there could be a strike at stop and shop. the union representing the workers authorized a strike if members and the company can't agree on a new contract. the old contract expired this weekend. for now, the union and company have agreed to continue the negotiations into the week. this week the public is going to get a say on the proposed casino in brockton. a subsidiary of chicago's rush street gaming wants to build this 677 million dollar casino at the brockton fairgrounds. they are the only firm in the running for the third license. a public hearing will take place at the community college tomorrow afternoon at 4. rhode island wants to compete for casino dollars here in the commonwealth.

guindon was sworn into duty the day before. the search is on for a driver who hit two pedestrians. a witness saw a woman run over a husband and wife yesterday afternoon. the couple and their daughterwere leaving a flea market. the wife suffered serious injuries and the husband was treated and released from the hospital. and it was a big night at the academy awards for spotlight. the drama about the boston glob's investigation into the sex -- globe's investigation into the sex abuse scandal in the arch dioceses won the award for best original screenplay and best film. hillary clinton and bernie sanders bringing their campaigns to massachusetts today. clinton holding events in springfield and boston and sanders will hold a rally in milton. in the meantime, repick can hopeful john kasich will be in -- republican hopeful john kasich will be in massachusetts today. >> don champion has more on the
