i'm kathryn hauser. >> i'm chis mckinnon. thank you so much for joining us. it's thursday, july 28th. let's get over to dan ielle. it's our last day of hot weather out there. yesterday we broke the heat wave. >> we did. 87 in boston yesterday was that sea breeze. it's 76 out the door right now in boston. very similar to the past few mornings in the 60s in the suburbs, 60 in orange and same the keen. it's 69 70 to 74 on the cape and island. we're going to warm up quickly out of the 70s into the 80s by mid-morning , low 90s by lunchtime. there will be some building clouds and just a chance of a thunderstorm . it will be hit or miss mainly north and west of boston. nothing severe today, just your typical summertime thunderstorms. look at the hour by hour. even by 1:00, 2:00 there's one or two storms that pop . through the evening hours north and west of

opponent. in response to trump's comment on russia a rhode island congressman is asking president obama to with hold classified intense briefing from the republican nominee. he's on the house foreign affairs committee and said it's in the interest of national security. typically they both receive briefings to help prepare for the job. >> stay with wbz as the dnc wraps up tonight. a water rescue has turned deadly. three people were pulled from the mairimakmai river around 8:00 last night. the direct attorney and police are investigating. the l street bathhouse will partially reopen today after a young boy at a city-run program was dead.

the curly community center where kyzr willis went missing. the 7-year-old was last seen on the beach tuesday afternoon after he had gotten out of the water. investigators are trying to account for the 30 minutes from when he was last seen and when police were notified that he was missing. >> i don't understand why nay weren't watching him at that time. >> i think the grandfather said if somethi p can come from his grandson's death that might give us a little bit of peace. >> at the time kyzr went missing there were 56 children at the program and approximately 25 counselors. there were also eight lifeguards, a director, supervisor and assistant supervisor. the city will review all of the day programs and camps by the end of this week. a tense stand off on the cape is over this morning and

mental health evaluation. sky eye was on the scene at the mashpee business park last night. that stand off lasted for 7 hours. the man told police he had an ar-15 and ammo on him. crisis negotiators were able to get him to come out without hurting anyone. >> it's very trying. it's a long often and it's very hot. we have officer ins the s in the woods -- officers in the woods. it's stressfu officers in, get water out. there's a lot that goes into an operation like that and i couldn't be prouder of the effort put forward. >> the suspect fired a bullet but no one was hit. police have not identified him yet. he's only saying he's a 41-year-old man. today a wilmington man accused of threatening to burn down one of boston's largest mosques is due back in court.

posting the threats on facebook. he's accused of unlawful possession of ammunition. somerville police will held a protest in a battle over a black lives matter sign at city hall. the police union wants the banner replaced with one that says all lives matter. the banner has hung outside city hall for almost a year. last night the mayor defended hispanic decision to keep it there. -- his d >> the head of the somerville police officer union penned a letter assisting that we take down the black lives matter banner, asking our city to pick a side. let me be clear, that boon ner will not down. >> a banner at the city's police station honors officers killed in the line of duty. new this morning, the governor just signed a law

towards the south coast and the cape too. it is going to be a muggy and humid day today. the humidity will be going up just a bit as we head over the course of the afternoon. quiet out there this morning. beautiful start to the day. a little bit muggy but the sun is going to shine once it comes up. the sea breeze keeping us a little cooler at the coastline. today 94 in boston, 92 in rockport. most of us the lower to middle 90s. the relief with the south, wind will be the cape and the island. right around 85 in nantucket. it's an isolated threat here 5:30 one or two storms showing up. i'm not anticipated severe weather. the typical run of the mill summer thunderstorms. the greatest risk will be north and

route 2 corridor, just north and west of the city even through the evening hours a lingering chance of a shower or rumble of thunder. tonight mostly cloudy, the chance of a shower or two. over night lows just around 70. tomorrow big changes on the way. look at this rain coming through kentucky and ohio right now. west virginia as well. a lot of this moisture is going to work in our direction. it's going to be taxing the atlantic for moisture as well. steadiest south and west of the mass turnpike. localized flooding possible. by the evening we will dry things out. we could get a get soaking of rain that we could use. this is just one depiction that shows the blues and the purples may indicate over an inch to inch and a half of rain in some pots. -- some spots. because of the rain our temperatures will
