live from the channel 4 stewed crows in boston wbz news at noon starts right now. >> a live look outside this noon at the boston skyline. we are getting some much needed rain after 8 days weather. finally some relief. >> but meteorologist danielle niles says the rain may not make a big dent in the drought we have been dealing with. >> we need a good soaking rain for days and days. we have only had .06 of an inch in boston 10 to to a quarter in fitchburg and worcester and blue hill observatory towards plymouth and weymouth over a quarter of an inch towards newport rhode island. spot that will see a lot of

but south of town. so plymouth points south some of the deeper yellows and oranges where we are seeing heavy rainfall. this is where we will see big ponding water on the road and standing water and puddles as well. it's pouring on the the vineyard and nantucket. can can you see it? -- can you see nantucket? it's pouring. reduced visibility in those pots we are cooler because of it 80 in fitchburg here to middle 70s for the rest of us but it's soupy. breaks of sunshine have been mi western massachusetts and with that, couple little downpours right near western now ham sure. one or two more of these that develop through the remainder of the afternoon. as the rain on the cape and islands departs, one or two showers and an isolated thunderstorm nonsevere north and west of boston through thafternoon and evening. outside 495 but it's sticky that any showers that develop could contain heavy rainfall. what about the weekend?

but gerardo portill owas arraign on charges and a crime police say happened monday all -- portillo was arraigned on charges and a-- on a crime police say happened monday while his daughter was in the car. he is accused of following a 25- year-old woman in his car. she was alone walking. that woman told police he asked her if she wanted a ride. when she declined he continued to follow her demanding th to prosecutors. when she begin de-- again declined he grabbed her and strangled her and punched her in the eye and tried to pull her pants down all again while that 3-year-old child was in the car. the victim was able to scream and get his license plate number when he sped off. that's how police were able to catch up with him and track him down a couple days later while he was at work. i can tell you again, that what

facing even more charges. >> one class b felony. >> reporter: this is the man accused of breaking free from a new hampshire jail. kevin gearhart appeared for a judge over skype friday to face charges for escape running from police and attempting to steal a woman's car at this gas station. >> it was a gentleman that was coming out of the woods. he tried to jump over the guardrail and kind of tripped and stumbled alodge because he was -- along because he wa >> reporter: melissa bolted into the convenience store to get help and when she came back out he was inside her car looking for her keys. >> yeah he kept telling me not to be afraid and there was nothing wrong and he was supposed to be out and owas on work release. >> reporter: but he had just escaped from the house of corrects across the street. corrections officers were loading 9 prisoners into a van

war on the ill get why. roadways and some urban centers poor drainage flooding. live radar right now shows a couple of downpours in central massachusetts but the bulk of the steadier rain is focused from plymouth and southern bristol county back down to the cape and island. see the deep yellows and greens in here and oranges, there's no lightning we have lightning tracking on here right now. but there is tropical downpours. humi i air mass is soupy and it's pouring. lighter rain on the vineyard but torrential rain on nantucket back over nantucket sound and back up to the outer capech the back edge -- cape. back edge is east towards lake vid and middleboro and halifax with light rain you will need the wipers on intermittently. apartment sun has been breaking out in central -- and then the sun has been breaking out in central massachusetts.

it's pouring over you right now. that will create area of reduced visibility too. we are in the 70s for most of us. the sun is broken out we are closer to 80 in western new england and will gain a few more degrees before thea noon is done. dew point is an air mass that feels like florida when the dew point is up around 70 that's oppressive. humidity is in place and will gradually lower a bit through the course of the weekend. so here goes the area of low pressure back edge of the rain lighter for the most part couple more hours of the heavy rain to go on the cape and island. and then notice through the mid to late afternoon. one or two showers may pop north and west of boston greatest risk. an isolated rumble of thunder. nothing severe and they are spotty through the course of the evening hours. overnight tonight, patchy fog develops. a few scattered clouds too. tomorrow looks pretty good. sunshine and building clouds and notice there will be an area of rain to watch but most

an isolated evening shower and a couple showers that come through saturday night into sunday morning. so don't be surprised if you wake up to a damp start on sunday. and then the day features some improvement. clouds and breaks of sunshine and a dry second half of the day especially. so i would say the greatest risk of a shower comes in saturday night into sunday morning. so it's looking good for free friday flicks tonight 8 p.m. at the half shell. humid and partly cloudy and temperatures in the lower 70s with the light rt little fog tonight and temperatures dropping into the 60s for most of us. and 80s tomorrow and wind off the ocean keeps the cape and coastline cooler in the upper 70s to low 80s. and because of the cloud cover on sunday, most of us will be 75 to 80 degrees. 7-day forecast will be around 08 to start next week with a couple showers again on monday and tuesday. so keep the umbrella on stand by. another warming trend into the 80s by thursday. >> thanks so much.
