the results of the new cbs poll of 11 of those swing states including new hampshire tells a much less optimistic story for the clinton campaign. independent voters are crucial to the outcome this fall. the polls show swing state independence were turned off by the democratic national convention. 67% saying it left them pastor mister gore scared while only 40% were enthusiastic. independents are leaning toward trump. that was an edge the dnc was supposed to eat road. another troubling finding for clinton. ask if they heard enough from the democrats are dealing with the economy. 57% said no. on terrorism, 59% were left unsatisfied. the gop convention was criticized for lacking substance.

the miami dolphins stadium then kept going. police finally stopped him. that driver is under arrest. they drive in southern california led police on a three-hour chase. at times going about 80 miles per hour from san diego county to la. they got a call overnight about this driver. officers finally boxed her in and arrested her. firefighters are battling a tonight. flames have ordered destroyed 62 square miles. the fire is at about 20% contained. the blaze did not grow overnight. the fire has been burning for 10 days and has destroyed 57 homes. >> you can see that hayes in the air. >> when i see the things that other parts of the country deal

it is the time of the year to start thinking about the tropics. this is a storm that will not affect us in new england that this is an invest area many that the hurricane center is investigating it. plenty of thunderstorm activity in the dominican republic. the hurricane center is giving tonight. as it becomes a tropical storm, its name will be girl. that storm in the past was not damaging for us. these are computer models showing a future track and a likely landfall late wednesday into thursday at the southern part of the yucatan peninsula.

chase. two chases, one city. >> let's get to lisa hughes. >> reporter: there can be interesting back stories. these police chases happened in new bedford today. news crews are just cover the end of the first case witness this second wild pursuit. the driver in that dark part is riding on the rims with police chasing. police have not said how they chase ended or what le but they say it was not related to an earlier chase that started in rochester. police said the driver in that case hit his own car with a hatchet and took off. he was then seen waving the hatchet and a knife out the car window. officers were able to pull in front of him forcing him to stop. the driver through the car into reverse and wound up crashing into another car. state police tweeted a picture
