live from the channel 4 studios in boston, wbz news at noon starts right now. >> first at noon breaking news. a washington, d.c. transit police officer now ubd a-- nd arrest accused of helping isis. this is the first time a member of terrorism. police say 36-year-old nicholas young of fairfax virginia bought 250 dollars in gift cards to help isis buy mobile phone apps to communicate. fbi says he was under surveillance and traveled to libya twiceer with tried to join rebel forces. >> developing this noon a plane accident in dubai. you can see the smoke pouring from the cabin as the unitedemirates plane touched down.

off safely. witnesses described hearing explosions before seeing the smoke. 6 americans were on the flight. >> and all the passengers escaped we have learned a firefighter died trying to put out the flames. right now planes are grounded in dubai as investigators figure out what happened jonathan vigliotti has latest. >> reporter: the emirates airline flight from india came to a fiery stop on the runway as people inside dubai international airport looked on in horror. >> the plane. ep down on its belly. >> oh. >> reporter: video posted online shows the bowing 777 erupting into a massive fireball. blowing off one of the wings. firefighters hosed down the smoldering fuselage most of the top melted away. amazingly all 300 people on board including 6 americans were quickly and safely evacuated in about a minute.

so they had us evacuate. >> reporter: some passengers said the pilot made an announcement he need to make a emergency landing because of landing gear problem. airport officials say there were strong winds and blowing dust as the plane approached the runway. the exact cause of the crash landing is still under investigation. jonathan vyingly did -- vigliotti. >> the the search for a suspect in billerica as police review su store was robbed and a woman says she was mugged. >> police say the suspect's description in both case it is similar. wbz nicole jacobs is live in billerica with the latest on the investigation. nicole. >> reporter: kathryn chris this is an active investigation involving one of two stations that we are in front of right now. jim's quick stop. the detectives or the deputy chief says this happened last night as the city was wrapping

successful national night out. so a lot of officers were dedicated to that particular event. when they got the call, two calls they received, the first of an attempted armed robbery at 129 liquors and while investigating that one a second call about 2 miles away for an armed robbery at jim's quick stop. the deputy chief says the suspect used a knife in both cases threatened to do the clerk harm and in one case jumped the counter. police would not say how much money was taken fr location. that woman there did go to the hospital because police say she was just so terribly frightened. at this point, investigators do believe that the two robberies are connected. >> we have determined that it's -- the same individual committed the robberies were being a -- we are actively working to try to identify the person. the individual again is a if i didn't mention earlier is a

attempts to conceal his identity. >> reporter: and looking live at jim's quick stop this was the second hit for that suspected armed robber. i can can tell you right now as you heard the deputy chief say, the description is quite vague because they say the suspect covered his face. but they do believe he was a white male who was wearing a hoody a gray hoodie and sunglasses and a hat be a a -- and a cap camouflaged there. so, anyone with information is urged to contact police they say if you encount eater man not to try to fight back. but certainly gib them a call. live in billerica nicole jacobs wbz news. >> thank you. a road eye lant prep school is paying up to settle 30 sex abuse claims. dozens of people came forward saying teachers and staff at st. georges inn middletown abused them. claims go back to 1970s. the school admits they didn't

no word on how much the settlement is for but a mediator is determining ham how much each of the 30 former students will receive. man who held hostage at hillary clinton's rochester new hampshire campaign office in 2007 is under arrest for bank robbery. >> police say 5-year-old leeland eisenberg tried to robert citizens bank in manchester yesterday. officers arrested him in a cemetery few hours later and found crack cocaine on him. he is in his arraignment e served two years in prison for the hostage incident. also breaking news -- he serreded of two years in -- he served two years in prison for the hostage incident. police are reporting a accident. one of the drivers was driving eradically causing the crash. this is investigated as some kind of a medical issue. we are working on details on the injuries there. police say route 20 where this crash happened will be closed for a while.
