route 3 -- connector. route 3 nothing to slow you down. the split gives you no troubles. it's smooth sailing from braintree to boston. you will get there in just about 10 minutes. chris kathryn, back to you. >> thank you. we begin with a developing story. police investigate hing whether a deadly knife attack in london was an act of terrorism. a woman was killed at least 5 other people injured. the attack happened in russell square near the british museum. suspect is in custody. it appears mental health was a significant factor in the attack. security is stepped up in the city. a couple inches makes the difference between hive and death for a wo-- life and death for a w opburn woman. she lost control hitting parked cars and a fence. witnesses say a pole from the fence pierced the front windshield missing her head by 6 inches. the pole went through the center of the car and digging

project which will sit on 33 acres near the mistic river. the move comes after the city of somerville decided not to further challenge a permit for the project granted by the state department of environmental protection. somerville was concerned about possible environmental impacts in the area. and they might still seek more changes in the courts. but wynne says this will create hundreds of construction jobs and many more jobs once the casino is opened. they hope the opening will happen in and later today, the people behind the project will gather right here with the mayor of everett to talk more about what's to could have been. jim smith wbz news now back to you. today residents will get the chance to weigh in to have boston police officer wear body cameras. our anna meiler is live in mattapan with a closer look at that proposal anna. >> reporter: and that hearing will be here at the mildred

review the police department's plan to test out body cameras and residents are welcomed to come give the input. the department recently announced it would conduct a 6 month pilot program with 100 officers volunteering to wear body cameras while patrolling. civil rights activists had been pushing for police to use body cameras after officer-involved shootings across the country. they argue it will increase transparency accountability and trues trust between law enforcement and community members of the last month department announced it reached an agreement with the police union to conduct the pilot commissioner evans says he was hoping for an august launch but it has not taken off. if you want to weigh in on the program, you can come to the mildred community center at 5:30 tonight. reporting hive in mat a -- live in mattapan anna meiler. new overnight the fight to wipe out mosquitoes carrying diseases intensifies in new bedford. ground spraying gapped around -- began around 2 this morning

parks and locations that host large public events. residents can also request ground spraying near them by contacting bristol county mosquito control. this morning animal rescue crews will be back at a condemned house in uptown. yesterday they removed -- upton. yesterday they removed 8 living cats and think more may be hiding inside. investigators described the two sisters who live at the house as hoarders. neighbors say the home has been a problem for years. >> it tink real -- stinks couldn't sit outside our house and we are two houses away. >> they have to take measures to prevent this once and for all. >> the sisters in their 60s when checked out at the hospital and are now staying with pam if i -- family. they are not facing criminal charges right now. fentanyl overdose related deaths are on the rise in massachusetts. the number of overdose deaths in the state has more than tripled in the last five years. 66% of overdose deaths so far

fentanyl. that's up 57% from last year. fentanyl is considered 50 foo times more potent than heroin. after months of tension a report details allegations of racism at oop elite boston school -- an elite boston schooled. they investigated more than 100 biased based and found more than a dozen violates school policies. the superintendent is working with them to make sure they are more welcoming for all studts is settling 30 sex abuse case. dozens came forward to say teach he is and staff in st. georges abused they will. the school admits they never reported the allegations. no word on how much the settlement is for but a mediator is determining how much each former student will receive. over to campaign 2016 now. donald trump head to maine today. the gop nominee is trying to get the campaign on track.

a big scare at a local beach. swimmers were ordered out of the water at south beach on martha vin yarr's after report -- vineyard after a reported shark sighting. this actually might have been a hammerhead shark but officials have not confirmed the sighting. >> speaking of sharks the 10th great white shark of the season was tagged off the cape yesterday. the doctor worked with the atlantic white shark conservanctagged the i love they name them as they go along. >> the beach on the vineyard is part of the jaws movie. >> is that where they shot jaws. >> part of it was over at the scene when she goes under in the beginning and then yeah the waves at south beach, i am not getting out of the water for a shark. >> can you imagine the warningeverybody out of the water and you look to the shore to look for the fin. >> everybody runs towards the watter to look for it instead

we have a spectacular -spectacular day on tap. >> it will be beautiful. these days, i want to say they are he numbered but this is the time of the year august we get the full month to go and temperatures on the cool side this morning. 51 in taunton. 65 boston the middle to upper 50s on the cape. the fog not nearly as widespread as yesterday. 3/4 of a mile visibility in taunton. quarter of a mile dense fog in springfield vermont. a few patches will burn off between now and through the course of the the day today. looks fantastic. you get back to the midwest and not so nice. we get areas of rain and thunderstorms pushing through minnesota stretching back into south dakota. this is what the next disturbance a cold front that will arrive to new england by time we get to saturday. so until then it's a dry stretch and we could use the rain because of the drought but we are not talking about any of the next few days. beautiful weather for outdoor activities. low 80s in boston. 75 to near 80 on cape cod.

interior. most of us topping out 86, 87, 88. clear and cool tonight again. 65 downtown. 50s for the suburbs with a light southwest breeze and highs tomorrow, bumping it up a little bit. 86 in boston same in rockport and 85 to 90 from metro west and lawrence and fitchburg hitting 90. jaffrey 85 and along the south coast back over to cape cod will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s and humidity will tomorrow's another dry day as well. saturday that's something changes so here comes a cold front. we start with cloud in the morning and-- clouds in the morning and gusty southwest breeze and perhaps a shower or two. and then the thunderstorms develop kind of early on saturday by midday we have scattered showers and thunderstorms firing up. so here's the map at 1 p.m. we will track the timing closely. a difference of a couple hours would mean the storms could be

and then into mexico here over the next several days. the biggest concern with earl is that the rainfall is going to continue to come down even as earl weakens over the next couple days. so upwards of a foot of rain may fall in some spots with locally higher amounts. mud slides and flash flood sergeant big areas to watch over the next couple days in parts of mexico and guatemala. current temperatures at home 65 in boston. 50 in taunton right now. 55 in falmouth and 59 in chatham a cool quiet sunshining is coming up in few minutes from now. and there's just a touch of fog like yesterday but it's not nearly as widespread. so just few patches out there. rise officially in 9 minutes from now. 8 1/2. 5:47, 62 degrees we rise out of the 60s quickly through the 70s. 82 by lunchtime. mostly sunny and low humidity. just a great day of summer weather overall. we will top out in the mid-80s.
