luz sawyer was driving on locust street when she lost control and hit parked cars and slammed into a fence. a pole from the fence appearanceed the front windshield and missed her head by 6 inches. >> kind of the thing that made everything inside me drop and i almost kind of freaked there. >> sawyer is in the hospital and was told to stay there what caused her to blackout. a worcester man due in court accused of attacking a police officer who is directing traffic. jones appiah tried to get into a driveway closed off. police say that's when he got angry and punched the officer and even tried to gouge out hiseye. officers had to use pepper spray several times on hip. -- on him. the fight to wipe out mosquitoes carrying disease

challenge a permit for the project. they were worried about environmental impact and might seek more changes in the courts but the wynne people say it creates hundreds of construction jobs and many more jobs once the can soon -- cay sono is opened and they hope the opening will occur in three years and later today as we said, the people behind the project will be right here along with the mayor of everett and we will find out more about what's to come. jim smith wbz this morning. back to you guys. >> thanks focus of a public hearing in boston today. wbz anna meiler is live with the details on how people can get involved. anna. >> reporter: chris that hearing is held here at mildred community center tonight a city council committee will review the boston police department's plan to test out body cameras for the first time and residents are welcomed to come weigh in on that plan. the department recently announced it will conduct a 6

it's a high property. >> reporter: he comments is -- commends city with an online map and aggressive program to help homeowners replace the service lines. >> we need to be able to demonstrate to citizens people know we are on top of the issue. >> reporter: but i-team found communities are not publicly sharing the locations of lead service lines. after surveying dozens of communities, we found marlboro has 1200 lead service lines mel rose win chest and thousands. >> the the facts that cities and towns had the records for decades, is so disheartening to me. >> reporter: the i-team learned the federal government sent a letter to states in february urging transparency about the low cases of lead service lines but the state didn't share that with cities and towns until five months later. on the very same day the i-team called to ask about it. the commissioner tells us his agency wanted to make sure they had the most up-to-date

forward. >> there is a real emphasize nationally -- emphasis nationally on transparency. >> reporter: part of the effort includes loans to help homeowners replace lead service lines. and it's important to note. just because you ad service lines doesn't necessarily mean the toxin ends up in your water. as a precaution susan had her kids blood tested and the results came back normal. but she can't help wonder about the what ifs. >> if that test had broken and i would be enraged you know that why hasn't this been taken care of. >> reporter: if you can concerned it can be inexpective to get watt -- inexpensive to have water tested for lead. running a faucet cold for two minutes should flush lead out of tap water. if you are not sure what the service line is made of your local water department should have the records and be able to tell you. for the i-team ryan kath wbz

lines. we posted that information on the website cbsboston.com. in other news fentanyl related overdose deaths are on the rise here in massachusetts. a new report shows the number of overdose deaths in the state has more than tripled in the last five years. 66% of overdose deaths so far this year were linked to fentanyl. that's up 57% from last year. fentanyl is considered 50 times more potent than new report details allegations of racism at an elite boston school. school district investigators reviewed more than 100 biased based incidents at boston latin school and found more than a dozen claims violates school policy. superintendent says he is working with school officials to make boston latin more welcoming for students of all backgrounds. and a rhode island prep school is settling 30 sex abuse claims dozens of people came forward saying teachers and
