drowned at carson beach. he was under the watch of a city camp program. >> reporter: a very somber day in mattapan where the funeral service will be coming to an end and family and friends will head to mount hope cemetery. his mother was overcome by grief as the funeral services be friends and family mourning the loss of a little boy whose death last week is impossible to understand. police say kaiser disappeared about 2:15 in the afternoon. about five hours later his body was found off carson beach. it was ruled an accidental drowning. mayor marty walsh who attended the funeral has put new safety

on in the positive changes. >> it's a tragedy that the situation happened. but what we have to remember through all of this is that kaiser -- at the young age that he is -- is actually saving lives today. he's saving other children's lives. >> reporter: you are now taking a live lo here in mattapan as family and friends say goodbye to this beloved 7-year-old boy. the family is accepting donations in lou of flowers. there's a go fund me page set up. and any money left over after funeral costs will go to his brother's college education. back to you, chris and kathryn.

gambling in massachusetts. bringing in heavy machinery to build a las vegas style resort. jim smith is live at noon with the details. >> reporter: good afternoon. it's been a busy day already in the city of everett. let me get out of the way and show you what's going on. the crews are getting lunch and they've been at it since dawn. hundreds of construction workers taking the the trucks lined up early, dozens of them. a long caravan of construction vehicles. the wind casino project in everett now underway. the $2 billion project sits on 30 acres of land near the mystic river. hundreds of construction workers are already busy. across the street sits a neighborhood where i asked people about issues like added noise. >> that don't bother me.

a little bit of noise ain't gonna bother me. >> reporter: would you go to the casino? >> no, i don't gamble, i never have. >> reporter: do you like the idea of a casino across the street? >> it's fine for me. >> reporter: would you visit it? >> probably -- hmmm -- yes. >> these are concrete cylinders. >> and fema set up shop and control for construction materials used to build the casino complex. >> any of the concrete and the soil testing we provide. >> reporter: to make sure that it's safe or stable enough? >> safe and stable. the architects and engineers design the building. and we use their specifics to make sure it's all safe and solid. >> reporter: you're taking a look at some of the huge cranes that are being brought in.

for six months. civil rights activists have been pushing for the use of body cameras. boston is one of the largest police departments in the country not using body cameras. a man was accused of directing a police officer who was directing traffic. the officer confronted him for trying to get into a closed off driveway. he punched the officer and tried to gouge out his eye. police in portland, maine, a 28-year-old man -- investigators say he sent an e- mail saysed to shoot and kill as many as possible. and there were explosives he claimed at a downtown parking garage. from london, an american woman has been killed in a knife attack. police are ruling out that the

terrorism. the attack happened near the british museum. five other people were injured. the attack comes days after the british public was warned to be vigilant. >> it would happen to anybody. i don't know if this was someone they knew but it could happen to anyone. it's really scary. >> teenager of somali -- police have not released any more information about the woman other than she was in her 60s. donald trump will be holding a rally in portland, maine. hillary clinton has a 10 point lead over trump. and the news comes as trump is facing increasing criticism within his own party.

fentanyl related overdose deaths continue to rise in massachusetts. the number of overdose deaths in the state has more than tripled in the st fentanyl is considered 50 times more potent than heroin. the battle to contain the zika virus is on the ground and in the air in florida. aerial spraying began over a miami neighborhood after a warning advising pregnant women to avoid the area. 15 people in the state have been infected with zika. the money to fight the virus could run out this month.

for the you. areas of severe drought have expanded south and east of boston. last week it expanded to worcester. 60% of massachusetts alone is now in a severe drought. year to date in terms of deaf at this time, it's up there. we need soaking rain for days. a little rainfall is not going to cut it. 7.7-inch deficit in worcester. and nearly 7 inches in nc the rain probability is zero tomorrow. and saturday a chance of scattered thunderstorms. and then it drops off as we head to sunday and monday. that includes today. dry and beautiful out there. 82 in boston. and we're in the mid-80s. concord is 84 degrees. and 80 in plymouth. and lower 80s from portland to the new hampshire seacoast.

on cape cod. between now and 3:00, 83 and 83. and gradually cooling off to the 70s. the southeast breeze continuing through the day. and 9 p.m. 73 with clear skies. that's case overnight tonight as well. not a lot of action across the northeast and the mid-atlantic and back to wisconsin we run into thunderstorms. these were back over minnesota this morning. they are making eastward progress and they wait until weather. clear and cool and another night to relax and sleep with the windows open. and we dip into the 50s. tomorrow bumping it up to 85 or 90. bedford, nashua, 89 degrees. bright sunshine and just beautiful with a south, southwest wind. and 83 in worcester. and 89 in fitchburg. most of us in the 80s.

cayman islands. we bring in clouds in the morning and there may be a few spotty showers. the timing of the cold front. we have to pinpoint down but looks like a chance of a shower will be possible saturday morning. that's why as the sun breaks out. we'll have to keep an eye for a pop-up thunderstorm. i'm not anticipating widespread severe weather. so tt fellow bike riders. 87 on saturday. and it's going to be muggy and we'll keep the threat for a thunderstorm in the forecast. southwest breeze about 10 to 20 miles per hour. and the northwest wind on sunday drags in drier air and it looks beautiful. sunny and mid-80s and we start in the 60s. 7-day forecast brings us back to mid-80s for the start of next week and mainly dry.
