end very toasty. a scorcher of an afternoon and with the heat index at 102 degrees that's why we have a heat advisory going into effect 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for most massachusetts here. this is not including the cape. temperatures technically a little below the advisory criteria. but it's going to be very he warm and humid for all locations here. 78 degrees in boston to start off the morning. and 90 by midday. ride home 95. heat index right around 100 an thunderstorms as well as we get into the heat of the afternoon. here's the hour by hour after 2 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. we will be tracking the poe section for thunder and lightning and brief heavy downpours and the potential for gusty winds. stay tuned to anything that does develop later this afternoon and keep an eye to the sky. coming up how many more days we have to deal with storm chances in your 7-day forecast. traffic and weather together breana. >> reporter: in 10 or 15 minutes the eastbound breakdown lane on mass pike in charlton

involving two trucks shut down the pike in both direction this is morning and slowly lanes are reopening. the crash happened just before the service plaza. one truck rolled over and the other caught fire. right now there are two westbound lanes opened. eastbound backup from the crash is to sturbridge at 84 westbound is to auburn at 290. you have two options to get around this, take route 20 running south of the pike or route 9 which runs north. chris kathryn back to you. >> thanks very much. breaking overnight a. sacramento forced to make an emergency landing because of severe turbulence. >> these are new photos from one of the passengers after it land safely. 22 passengers and two crew members were taken to the hospital to be checked out. one passenger from arlington describes the terrifying flight. >> severe weather and you know it kind of could look at it got

about 100 feet a second. everybody that didn't have a seat belt on hit their head. >> another passenger said the turbulence was so severe it was cracks in the overhead bins. a replacement aircraft will take them onto sacramento and they will land later this morning. a crash on 128 north in newton. five vehicles were involved in this one. one caught fire. no word on injuries. police are trying to figure out what caused the crash. the highway is now breaking overnight in dorchester, one person shot on blue hill avenue. it happened just before midnight. the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. new overnight an investigation underway after three police officers person vehicles were tampered with. the latest incident happened on wednesday in police parking lot. >> east boston. two lug nuts were missing from one of the tires. that was the third time in less than a month something like this happened and two earlier

new developments in a jog are's murder. investigators now -- jogger's murder. investigators believe vanessa marcotte struggle with the killer and they released a timeline for the murder. anna meiler is live with the latest on the investigation. and ha. >> reporter: -- anna. >> reporter: officials say vanessa marcotte likely scratched and bruised her attacker and they are asking the public to look for a man with those injuries. investigatre of so much fear and anxiety inprinceton. >> we hope they find the person responsible. >> reporter: state police scour the woods where 27-year-old vanessa marcotte's body was found sunday. the bod -- her body was naked and burned. >> we believe there was struggle between vanessa and her killer. >> reporter: the worcester district attorney says they now believe she fought for her life. likely inflicting injuries on her killer. >> these injuries specifically

bruises. therefore, we would ask anyone who observed a male with these types of injuries that would have been fresh earlier in the week to contact the massachusetts state police tip line. >> reporter: officials are also narrowing the timeline of the attack. they believe she was murdered sometime between 1 and 3 p.m. sunday while she was out for jog pheer her mother's house -- for a jog near her mother's house. >> it's not a lot to go on but better than nothin sharing the new clues with the public will help them capture the killer. and bring him to justice. officials say they have received more than 300 tips so far. again they are asking anyone who saw a vehicle either parked or traveling on brook station road between hours of 1 and 3 p.m. on sunday to give them a call. reporting live in princeton anna meiler wbz this morning. now back to you. >> thanks so much if you have any information to help police
