it's coming into redding at the memorial high school and 67 there also. west of boston we're at 71 # there. -- 71 -- 71 there. we have a string of showers across mainly northern new hampshire but nothing here. it's cloudy and looks ominous in boston but there's places where there's not too many clouds off to the south and west. some areas wil the heat is going to come back in tomorrow. we will get the relief but it's mainly along the immediate coast through boston up through northeastern massachusetts. it will be a good solid 15 to 20 degrees drop from what we had yesterday. 88 to 90. in far metro west near 90. tomorrow everybody is back in the heat . more on the weather is coming up. >> thank you, barry.

injured in a flash fire at an oil refinery in southeast texas. it's not clear what happened orp why. -- what happened or why. it started last night in jefferson county. everyone injured is expected to survive. a little boy saved by a stranger and a life guard. this morning that child is in the hospital alive because of a team effort. the 7-year-old was from the waters at hyde park. a woman as well as lifeguards were able to get him to safety until ems arrived. the child was breathing again by the time they took him to children's hospital. drc said we recommend our lifeguards on duty for their quick actions. as part of a tame they worked together calmly and efficiently to

this sketch of the suspect. police say a drunk drive -- driver in new hampshire hit drivers on the road and just kept going right into a duncan donuts drive-thru. there was an unusual order at this drive-thru on wednesday night. steven detwilor took his coffee with handcuffs after aes it started where officers say he rear ended a car and took off. on his way down dw highway he hit a second car. that's when apparently he needed a caffeine fix 678 -- fix. an officer spotted him here. they let him complete his coffee order. they said even duncan couldn't arrest his

>> thankfully no one was injured during this or deal. -- or deal. he was hit with a $2,500 bail and ordered to appear in court on august 23rd. boston police are celebrating a big drug bust. officers recovered 27 bags of crack cocaine , six more of the drug in powder form as well as marijuana and $19,000 n cash. -- in cash. the drugs were found at a home on norfolk street. a popular back day lunch spot is back open after food lielation -- lie operation violations were forced to close. sweet pea had problems with not washing their hands. they are hiring a person to help with future problems.

beneath its tires gave out. the fire department tweeted this picture from town neck road. no word on what might have caused the sinkhole. this morning a massachusetts family is getting the news they have waited for for 65 years. the department of defense said the body of corporal ronald sparks of cambridge will be returned for a burial with full military honors next week. he was 19 and serving in the korean when he disappeared in 1951. he died in a pow camp. his returns were returned in 1954 but he was not identified until this year. a war horse is getting a retirement on a local farm. >> fidel castro turns 90 today.

it's not coming in with a strong northeast wind. there's some cloudiness that's coming into parts of eastern massachusetts as well. along the coast in familiar. -- if particular. -- coast in particular. we've showed you the wbz network showing you the difference in temperatures. the front is in this position here. the clouds are heading southwestward. further off to the north southwest of the boundary here there's just some scattered clouds. the cool air is going to come in. along the coast in the 70s. we'll get up to the low 80s on cape cod. these are the dew points that have dropped back. not into the low and middle 70s like yesterday. that high humidity exists not too far to the south and west and all these areas are going to be extremely humid today and that's going to come back at us

today's highs from the mid 70s to the northeast part, maybe even the lower 70s. cape ann 72 to 75 there maybe. then you get into the 80s into metro west. far metro west the upper 70s. 0 -- upper 80s. definitely in the 90s beyond that in connecticut, especially in parts of extreme southern massachusetts here. the national weather service has a hedv that's from noon to 7:00. then the excessive heat warn ing in the pink zones here from springfield to hartford and southwest. it may feel like 105 to 110. that's tough stuff there. heat exhaustion and heatstroke a possibility where it's going to be so hot today. lots of clouds and some sunny breaks as well. the most

two people have been killed, dozens more rescued from flooding in the southeastern part of the state. louisiana governor has already declared a state of emergency and he's seen the effects firsthand. these are photos of the governor's mansion. the basement is flooded. the first family has been relocated. it was a team effort to help save a little boy in the hospital this morning. the 7-year-old was not breathing when he was pulled from the waters of hyde park yesterday afternoon. a woman who was at the pool as well as lifeguards were able to get him to safety until ems arrived. the child was breathing again by the time they took him to children's hospital. a little boy is safe after a shooting that his father may have been involved in. police did not find the dorchester 9-year-old until friday afternoon.

-- is juan powell. they began looking for him and the green suv. they found the boy but his father went there. wasn't there. police say 32-year-old steven etwiler rear ended a car and took off and then hit a second car. he ordered coffee at a duncan donuts and when he pulled out police arrested him and charged him with drunk driving and hit and expect in the desert, not outside a quincy home. now a rattlesnake is the talk of the neighborhood. you can see the police trying to get the rattler into a bucket. members of the smith family found the potentially dangerous snake. at first they couldn't believe it but the kids say they weren't scared exactly. >> really cool. >> pretty cool. >> it was cool. it was like moving and it was big like that.

most of the region in this shading here. when this was updated last tuesday based upon data from tuesday to tuesday it was upgraded to extreme drought here in parts of area just northwest of bit north -- of boston. some places 10 to 15 inches deficit of rainfall since the beginning of the year. so it's a big time drought, that's for sure. we did get some rain and some badly needed rai of these areas the middle part of next week. around wednesday. we have had a couple of showers since then. now we're looking at the temperature, boston down to 69. yes, it's below 70. the dew point is also below 70. that's good news. still classified as high humidity but not in the 70s like it was. the heat index is 69. it's feeling just what the temperature is indicating , the thermometer is indicating to us

below that 70 degree threshold. temperatures not going much of anywhere in boston today. just a few degrees. low to middle 70s. not up to the 98 that we had yesterday. there could be some breaks of sunshine looking at temperatures in the 60s here. this cooler air seeping in from the north and northeast from maine as you can see coming down like this with a light northeast breeze around 5 to 10 miles per hour. that front is basically in a position like this pretty much just it's going to become stationary, may go a little bit more and stall in here. it may provide a boundary for a few thunderstorms to pop up in central massachusetts later on today. not a triggering mechanism in the atmosphere to get things percolating in terms of widespread conviction. these are the dew points now that have dropped. they dropped down to 69 now in worcester but still low to middle 70s back no here.

there's no big push of this coming down. we just have a little bit of refresh today -- refreshment today with high temperatures in the middle 70s at west along the coast. over northeastern massachusetts, 75 at the coast, 80 inland. then into the 80s into interior new hampshire and near 90 near fitchburg to near worcester and near providence. it's going to be mostly in the 80 to 85 range in cape cod. we have the orange zone indicating that we have a heat advisory up there. as far as showers and storms, can't rule them out completely. it doesn't look widespread for today. so we'll go for just lots of clouds but areas of sunshine breaking through. low cloudiness has come in from the ocean.

we're all in this hazy, hot and humid weather tomorrow. some scattered thunderstorms more likely tomorrow afternoon. the disturbance comes in from the west. going to the beach today, well, it's going to be lots of clouds although the beaches -- at the beaches and much cooler than it has been. mostly the mid 70s at many of the beaches except some 80s on cape cod. before 2:00. going to fenway park, a slight chance of a thunderstorm, 76. tomorrow sweltering again up around 93 and maxing out around 95, 96. you see the high temperatures but with the excessive humidity back with the dew points exceeding 70 and going to up 75 the real feel temperatures tomorrow will

it's 70 there. up in andover at the senior high school it's 66. that's reflective of the cool air that's trickling in from the ocean. it's still warm and still humidity at the ford middle school, 78 degrees there this morning. we don't see any showers or storms around. some showers along new england near the mountains. may be a shower or thunderstorm in spots afternoon along this frontal boundary that exists through eastern massachusetts. that's going to make the difference between the 90s and the 70s. in the 90s in connecticut and then 70s along the coast. in between some 80s, nudging 90 in some areas close to western worcester county. everybody is back up to 95 tomorrow for an average high. the heat index over 100 tomorrow with a few more thunderstorms. more coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you, barry.

the 7-year-old was not breathing when he was pulled from the waters of the olson pool in hyde park yesterday afternoon. a woman at the pool as well as lifeguards were able to get him to safety until ems arrived. the child was breathing begun by the time -- again when they took him to children's hospital. at little boy a little boy is home after he was missing for two days. the boy's father looking for him and his green ford explorer and they found the suv and the boy at this home on fernboro street but his father wasn't there. a judge over turned the conviction of one of the two men profiled in the netflix documentary making a murderer. brendon dassey was just 16-year-old16
