gigantic oak tree fell into her home here in reading. it sliced a hole in a spare bedroom but nobody was home. joan came back from a bike ride and was in the garage. >> if i had been coming down the hill 10 seconds later, i would have gotten hit. that didn't happen. >> reporter: possibly lucky and still have your house damaged at the same time? >> i guess so. 's >> reporter: joap's husband is dpw director in a nearby town and said that trees everywhere are under stress. >> it was exal the same kind of tree that fell up the street two weeks ago. i think it was an old tree that was starting to lean too far. >> reporter: it cut power to the neighborhood.

woman who nearly hit this home was drunk. officers rushed to the scene about 8:00 last night. passengers in the car and another person got into a fight as news spread about the crash. no 1 was hurt. officers say yesterday afternoon, a man was threatening people at a supermarket in gardner and took off when they got there. his lawyer said that has been battling a drug problem. boston school officials want to reassure parents that the water will be safe when school starts. testing will continue until the lead levels return to normal. they believe the lead levels are high because water has been sitting stagnant all summer in old pipes and there is a plan

southern california forcing thousands of people to evacuate. the flames in the los angeles suburb are pushing firefighters to the limit. at the present time to show you time lapse video of the bluecut fire in san bernardino county. this thing exploded in size just overnight. as chris martinez shows us, entire communities have been wiped out. >> reporter: the massive bluecut wildfire has to 30,000 acres. it raced up and down ridges overnight burning entire neighborhoods to the ground. >> just devastating and it looks like it's all the way around us. i live that way, and they won't let me go home. >> reporter: strong winds and dry brush shot smoke and flames 80 feet into the air. >> more than a thousand fire crews are on the ground while helicopters and planes attack
