12:00 pm
. this noon, women in boston's south end are on edge after an assault. police say the victim was forced to walk down the street when a man pulled a knife on her. >> now officers want neighbors to be on the end for us with the very latest. >> reporter: chris, boston police are putting out a community alert after they say a man sexually assaulted a woman near this playground then took off toward davenport street, and they say he's still on the run. this area of the south end is bustling with early morning joggers and dog walkers. >> i always felt really safe,
12:01 pm
the morning. never had a problem. . >> reporter: but people who live here say they're starting to feel differently. after police say a man on a blue bmx bike approached a woman near greenwich village around 11:00 monday morning and told her he had a knife. police say then he forced her to walk to the area of the carter playground where he sexually assaulted her. >> i think it's terrible. i think it's so scary that you live in a neighborhood that you think is safe and you can't through your neighborhood without feeling, you know, violated. >> reporter: police are asking people to be on the lookout for the suspect who they describe as a hispanic man in his late 20s to mid-30s. he's about 5'6" with a medium build and short brown hair and he has tattoos on his right arm and back of his right hand. neighbors say they will be more alert and take steps to protect themselves. >> i don't think i would walk down the street when it's dark, there's like a few parks that i
12:02 pm
bag. >> i probably won't loam with headphones in anymore late at night. but i'll just be aware of what's going on and who is around me for sure. >> reporter: if you have any information, call boston police. reporting flye boston, wbz news. >> thank you very much, breaking news right now at noon. tom brady addressing the media right now. >> talking about why he's missed practice for the last two days, talking about an accident where he slipped and would have been smart to go to practice. >> i obviously got, you know, work to do and that's where my focus is [ question posed by reporter inaudible ] >> i think so. yeah. there's only one time i've ever missed for injury, that was -- and i wanted to go back and play that year, too. so... yeah i think that's just -- i've always felts like, you know, the team is counting on me to be out there. and i will do everything i can to make sure i'm out there and playing.
12:03 pm
but i think coach made a great decision. >> you mentioned early on [ [ inaudible ] did you want to be out there friday night. >> yeah, absolutely. i like to be there every time i goat a chance to play. you only get so many opportunities a year and, you know, i'm getting so many opportunities left in my life, so i would like to take advantage of any -- any and all of them if possible. so yeah, it's -- when you see their uniforms and ready to go, you want to be out there with them. on friday? i'm always prepared to go, so whenever my number is called, i'll be ready. >> still the accident, when it did happen, did you feel like you dodged a bullet? >> i let out a probably loud, you know, word i wouldn't repeat in front of my kids. and then, yeah, couldn't believe
12:04 pm
out. so it was just a -- it was an accident. >> was there a moment, how -- what next? [ inaudible ] >> i don't think about that stuff too much. i -- you know, i'm pretty positive person, so i just focus on, you know, i wish -- i was trying to do everything i could to get ready to play, it finally with the qbs ran ups, it's like all right, we're not playing, so -- just like i said, i'm bummed i couldn't be out there. taking to the practice field, i love practicing, so to have a chance just to go out there and, you know, you would like to as a guy whose been here for a long time, throw your leadership through example and be out there whenever you can, because that's the what team is counting on. so it's been -- you know, that's a -- like i said, a crappy way
12:05 pm
a silly mistake. but, you know, i'm glad it wasn't the regular season and i learned from it and hopefully won'ting operating anymore sy stores. >> -- sicczor ] >> [ inaudible ] question ] >> i don't believe any of them hurt, so i think -- just do the best you can do. i know we're preparing a will the of guys to get ready to play. and i fit into this but so do a lo i'm just taking the advice of coach and whatever he wants to do, i'm going to do everything i can to be ready to go when i am called upon. and that's what my responsibility is, so that's what i'm preparing to do. >> what's the big difference between game reps and practice reps in the preseason? >> well, i think you're getting hit. so just the spacial warns and guys around you and ball security. whatever the last 30 practices, you know, quarterbacks aren't touched. so to tant there in the pocket
12:06 pm
coming to get the ball, knock it out of your hands, hitting the ground and so forth, those types of things are important. so i have to feel those things out. the game is the only place to get it. because it's regular speed. it's -- it's -- you don't know what's coming, you're not prepared -- we prepare but we don't obviously get to walk through the looks that we're going to get and then, you know, when you get out there, you have to make the decisions and go play quarterback the way that i've always tried >> what are you thinking how jimmy mas played the first go games? how much advice does he ask for you? does he lean on you a lot during practices? >> yeah, we're in the -- you know, we're in every meeting together. there's always a good, you know, back and forth in our -- in our room. i think that's really encouraged by josh to speak up and say what you think and you see someone that maybe doing something a little bit different or, you know, we're always trying to be
12:07 pm
we've been winning. that's been fun to watch. we can always do better at our position. and we're going to try to. we're going to need to. it's a tough schedule we've got. but we're going to do the best we can. >> locker room on how the team is going to do when they don't have to practice against a team and they get on the road when these preseasons are a hostile environment. >> we had that opportunity this week. so i think that's what you have to use it for. every week youet opportunities, monday night game or monday night game or sunday night game or road game or a road night game. i think all of these things are different opportunities to prepare for. the guys who have been around and have had a chance to experience those things you fall back in the routines that you have. but you're right, this team is a -- it's a phenomenal team we were playing, speaker in the super bowl last year. some of the best defensive players in the league. it's a big test. i'm glad it comes this week,
12:08 pm
probably the most game planning we've done, the most opportunities we've had to watch film and really prepare as if it's a regular season week. so it's a good match up. >> how would you describe the preseason considering the unusual circumstances the way the season? it seems like you tried to make it business as usual but of course it's not. >> in what sense? >> you know, you're not going to play the first games. >> so is it different for me? >> approach this preseason, is it any different for you knowing you have that. >> yeah. i try to approach it the same way. i think that's been successful for me. so i -- i want to try to change a whole bunch of things up. i try to work hard every day. i try to do what i need to do on the practice field to prepare myself. that's just, you know, kind of what the routine is. we'll deal with those four weeks when they come. but in the meantime i'm trying to prepare this week like
12:09 pm
and the year before and try to just, you know, prepare the best i can so i can be the best quarterback for this team that i can be. >> plans for you in [ inaudible ]. >> no, i haven't put much thought into it. it's been busy with the practices and so forth. so i still have a couple important weeks to, you know, for this training and for this phase of the season. i want to effort and thoughts into this week and next week and try to go out and play, you know, in a couple good preseason games see if i can get some of that game action. and then deal with that when it comes. thank you, guys. all right. you've been listening to a live news conference with tommy -- brady addressing the issue why he hasn't been in practice. it was a silly accident.
12:10 pm
he left the stadium. >> he will be ready to go friday night if coach calls his numbers. he's preparing just like any other year. he talked with -- he talked about that there. >> wbz is your home for the patriots of course. they play the panthers our coverage starts with game day at 7:00. pats and carolina panthers kick off at 7:30. followed by i have -- followed by the fifth quarter post game show. we have more breaking news. former senat anchor at fox news. andrea tantaros has sued the network. in the lawsuit suit she says brown made a couple of sexually inappropriate comments to her. she says she complains to a network executive but she claims no action was taken. brown is not being sued as part of this legal action, his name is only mentioned in the legal paperwork. well, brown just released this
