and we have trouble in charlestown a truck carrying scrap metal rolled over in the rotary at sullivan square. it spilled debris all over the road. crews are working right now to clean this up. that is live aerial look at the mess there. we don't know how long this could take and see the traffic is getting by. but it's down to one lane and it's getting by slowly. this could become a huge problem for the morning commute. just play it safe and avoid that area. chris and kate back to you. >> thank you. we begin with ki a deadly earthquake hitting the central part of the country as people slept. >> buildings collapsed and debris littering the streets of several towns more than 3 dozen people are now confirmed dead. nicole jacobs is live with a closer look at the damage and rescue efforts underway. nicole. >> reporter: the mayor saying that the town is not here anymore. this as u.s. officials measure a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit central italy.

amount of devastation with buildings completely leveled leveled. homes crumbled and all happening just after 3 a.m. this morning their time. people were asleep in the beds. aftershocks have been problematic as well. some as strong as 5.1. rescue crews are working feverrerly as you can see -- feverishly as you can see through the live pictures trying to find survivors in the rubble. reports of entire families ap debris. we are sure to hear more stories like this as rescue crews continue their search efforts. the death toll continues to rise this morning at least 37 people are dead. officials with the u.s. state department of travel are asking any u.s. citizens to are in italy and are safe to check in with their family members via social media. as you can see this is a developing breaking story this morning. we will continue to keep you

nicole jacobs wbz this morning. breaking overnight north korea fired a missile into the sea. south korean officials say the missile was fired from the submarine this morning and flew about 310 miles. that's the longest flight by that type of weapon. and it puts it in range of hitting much of south korea. the launch happened as south korea and the u.s. are conducting their annual military drills. at least one person flown to the hospital after a serious crash in wilmington. this is the around 10 last night. part of the area was shut down while police investigated. a convicted sex offender is due in court accused of raping a woman and it took longer to find him because he cut off the gps monitoring bracelet. anna meiler is live in roxbury where the suspect will be charged. good morning anna. >> reporter: good morning kate. eduardo rodriguez will be

a man is in the hospital with serious injuries this morning after being hit by a tree limb in brookline. a tree cutting crew was working at the herb chambers dealership when the branch fell and hit a dealership employee yesterday. a woman who works nearby says she asked the landscaping company before the accident why that area was not roped off better. >> yeah one of the guys wassing it me they don't have any like -- was telling me theydon't have tape around or prevent the people what are ever they work and doing over there. >> the victim is a 29-year-old man who had to have surgery and workers at herb chambers saytheir hearts go out to the man and his family. police are investigating how a worker in roxbury fell three stories. boston for fighters tell us the -- for fighters tell us he -- firefighters tell us the man was on scaffolding when he fell. he is in serious condition. good news for a newton teacher and her son of the both stabbed while on vacation in
