hit by a strong aftershock. smold filled the air as one the town's building partially collapsed. thousands of rescue crews are searching for survivors. >> hope is dwindling more than 24 hours after that earthquake, more than 241 people have been killed there. tina crouse reports from italy. >> reporter: powerful aftershocks are jolting the town collapsing more buildings and sending clouds of dust into the day a -- air a daf earthquake flattened most of this historic village. there have been more than 400 after it is shocks, one as strong as magnitude 5.1. they're making it more difficult for teams to search for trapped victims. this firefighter says focus is still on finding people alive. but it's a race against the clock. crews worked through the night sifting through the debris. please are keeping this road clear for workers to bring in

. a wild scene in a texas restaurant as a waiter opens fire in the middle of dinner. police say the waiter got into an argument with two customers when he pull started firing into the air. another diner captured the whole scene on their phone. the waiter took off after the shooting. police are still looking for him. a helicopter crashed in the ashland reservoir. >> but the pilot is safe thanks to a good is a mare at that. david says he lost power over the reservoir and when he couldn't find a safe patch of land, he decided to put it down right in the water. dana wasn't hurt. luckily a man fishing with his

we've been watching for the last several days here. we have tropical storm gaston. that has weakened since i updated this morning. that's not going to impact the united states at this point in time. it's going to go out to sea over the next several days. but invest 99. this is still very disorganized area of low pressure and what we're experiencing, well, we are experiencing some areas of gusty wind, lots of rain for the caribb forecast models with all these charts, we put all these models, plot it and try to get a good idea of where it's headed. well, it looks like those models starting to go a little bit farther to the south. but we'll keep you you want to date this week. -- up-to-date this weekend. anticipate heavy rains in florida. current conditions in boston, dry. we were in the 50s. dew point temperatures now in
