>> police are on the scene right now. let's get to anna meiler with new information on this. anna good morning. >> reporter: good morning kate. state police confirm one person died and two people taken to local hospitals with li- threatening injuries after a crash that happened right here. one lane reopened to traffic so cars are able to get on the ramp to storrow drive but to i- 93 northbound is blocked off. this happened just morning. you can see a gray vehicle mangled and facing the wrong direction on the ramp 93 northbound. there is debris all over the road. we can only see one vehicle that was involved in the crash. state police are now on scene investigating had you this -- how this accident happened. there's no doubt it had affect the early morning commute with the ramp to i-93 northbound closed but the lane to storerow drive -- storrow drive

taken to local hospitals with life threat hening injuries. we doesn't note names or -- know the names or -- we don't note names or ages of the people involved. anna meiler wbz. a woman attacked in rockport. police are searching for the man seen in the pictures. investigators say he fits the description of the suspect who attacked a woman from behind knocking her to the ground the victim told police heth suspect tried to it happened on pools lane after 9 wednesday night. the victim was able to fight him off and then he fled on a bicycle. if you recognize him, call rockport police. a nun from massachusetts murdered in mississippi and this morning she is remembered for dedicating her life to helping those in need. >> nicole jacobs is live in the satellite center with more on this. nicole good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you kate. there was a call to police when sister paula merrill didn't show up for work. authorities found her and

their home. family members here are grief stricken and they believe she is in a better place. sister paula merrill what heart of gold. >> her patience patients loved her. >> reporter: a nurse practitioner for more than 30 years she dedicated her life to serving others in the deep south. durant mississippi was the most recent calling. >> she was so good to them and they -- she and sister margaret went so far above and beyond anything that could of a normal human being. >> reporter: hurst morning she and sister margaret held were discovered dead an apparent home invasion police say. >> i don't understand why these things happen. >> reporter: sister paula grew up in stoneham her older siblings are still there now dealing with the unthinkable. >> i talked to him, him, and i say don't know what your plan was doesn't know that i agreed with it but i trust you. >> reporter: her work in the community spoke for itself.

she knew exactly what her mission was. >> we make a difference in people's lives and we never know what that difference is. we do what we are hopefully we do what we are called to do where we are. >> reporter: the sisters' car was stolen and found just a short distance from the home. sister paula will be buried in kentucky. in the satellite center nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. >> thank you. breaking strong aftershocks in italy as the death toll rises. 267 people are now confirmed dead and another 387 people are being treated for injuries. early this morning a 4.7 magnitude aftershock rattled residents and rescue crews. there have been nearly a thousand aftershocks. here's live video hampering the rescue and recovery efforts. crews are going through the rubble this morning holding out hope they can find more survivors. also breaking overnight a

police checkpoint in turkey. at least 11 police officers are confirmed dead and that number could go up. 78 more people are injured and the country state run news service blames kurdish militants for the attack. and new overnight a deadly explosion at a sports center in belgium. part of the building has collapsed. right now staffers say this appears to be an accident and they don't suspect terrorism. one person was killed two others injured. this happened in the 75 miles south of brussels. new developments in the scandal surrounding olympic swimmer ryan lochte. police in brazil charged him with filing a false report. he said he was robbed at gunpoint in rio but later admitted he was drunk and apologized for embellishing the storey. his spokesman says he has no comment on the criminal charges. a copilot for a night headed to massachusetts accused of being drunk.

the plane and had his heads phone on and prepping the flight for departure noticed the copilot was not acting normal and appeared he may be under the influence of something. >> reporter: during preflight captain manny ramirez smelled something is on the copilot's breath. when they arrived police say it was clear he was into being kateed. he was give a -- intoxicated. he was given a preliminary breath test and blew a .3. >> that's a alcohol level. i can hon of thely say in 15 years of law enforcement this is the first time i am aware the city police has arrested somebody that was planning to pilot a plane. >> reporter: police say they are thankful captain ramirez spoke up. >> it's amazing. kudos to the gentleman for standing up for what's right and making the call and keeping in mind the safety of the passengers and himself as well as the person arrested.

that will be here for the weekend so we will have dew points 55 to 60 over the weekend instead of 70 now. we are not going to have super dry air like a few days ago when it dropped into the 40s. upper 80s today. 87 to 79 except south facing coastal spots where the windscomes from the southwest and cools it a little bit. 90s from knew near new york southwestward and staying hot there over the weekend and it will be on the edge of us. so we will get from time to next week through mid-week and really cool air will come out of canada next weekend for a starting week from today. so a little dry air coming in for the weekend should be pretty nice. this tropical disturbance down here may be watching it as it goes to the gulf of mexico and gives parts of florida heavy rain. tropical storm gaston is out there and looks like it is going to turn into a hurricane but it's going to miss bermuda as of this point.

change and be refreshing with low humidity. traffic and weather together breana. >> reporter: we are following break news the sumner tunnel reopened but the ram to 93 north closed while state police investigate. this happened after 3 this morning. we know one person is dead two others rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. our cameras saw a gray truck mangled on the ramp to 93 north. it's unclear right now if any other cars were involved. you can get on th store-- storrow drive but the 93 ramp will remain closed while police investigate. most local schools go back next week but yesterday was the first day of classes for the students he at the neighborhood house charter school in dorchester. boston mayor walsh was there to welcome the kids back. school offers longer days and an extended school year. back to school means back to school shopping. >> and those supplies can add up. so we are doing the shopping
