sumner tunnel. >> police are on the scene investigating. let's get to anna meiler with the very latest. good morning anna. >> reporter: police say a man died and two other men taken to local hospitals with injuries after a crash right here in the sumner tunnel. crews just reopened the ramp to i-93 northbound less than 10 minutes ago. so traffic is flowing smoothly again. police say it happened after 3 this morning. you can see a gray vecl direction on the ramp to 93 northbound and there was debris all over the road. that vehicle was towed just a short time ago. so the crews could reopen the ramp to 93 northbound. only one vehicle was involved in this crash and state police spent hours investigating the deadly accident saying for some reason the one vehicle lost control one person is dead and we are learning that person is

hospitalized with injuries. we will keep you updated on any details that we learn. for now reporting live in boston anna meiler wbz this morning. now to a developing story a woman attacked in rockport. now police are searching for the man seen in the surveillance pictures. investigators say he fits the description of the suspect who attacked a woman from behind and knocked her to the drowned. he -- ground. he tried to remove her clothes. the attack happened on pools lane after 9. victim was able to fight him off and he fled on a bicycle. if you rockport police. a nun from massachusetts murdered in mississippi and this morning she is remembered for dedicating her life to helping those in need. nicole jacobs is live in the satellite sent wert latest on the investigation -- center with the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: there was a call to police when sister paula merrill didn't show up for work she and another nun were found stabbed to death in their home. family members here are grief stricken toe they believe she is in a better place.

what the mission is -- deference is we hopefully do what we are called to do where we are. >> reporter: the sisters' car was stolen and it was found just a short distance from the home. sister paula will be buried in kentucky. in the satellite center, nicole jacobs, wbz this morning when breaking news more strong after -- this morning. breaking news more strong aftershocks in italy. 267 people confirmed dead and another 387 people treated for magnitude aftershock rattled residents and rescue crews. here's a live look at that effort going on right now. there have been nearly a thousand aftershocks in italy getting in the way of some rescue and recovery efforts. crews are still going through the rubble this morning hoping that they can find more survivors. also breaking overnight a. deadly car bomb attack at a police checkpoint in turkey. at least 11 police officers are now confirmed dead and that number could go up.

country state run news service blames kurdish militants and a deadly explosion at a sports center in belgium. part of the building collapsed. right now staffers there say this appears to be an accident and they don't suspect terrorism. one person was killed and two others injured. this happened in the town about 75 miles south of brussels. new developments in the scandal surrounding olympic swimmer ryan lochte police in brazil charging him with filing a false robbery report he admitted he was drunk and apologized for embellishing the story. the spokesman for lochte says he has no comment on the criminal charges. charter flight bound from massachusetts was delayed for several hours because of the copilot appeared to be drunk. talon air says before a morning flight from michigan to bedford the pilot smelled something on copilot's breath and asked him to step aside. then, police removed him from

oh. it's a killer whale baby. >> i love the guys. the group tune fishing off chatham spot a pod of killer whales and they shot this video on tuesday about 12 miles offshore and sea they saw four whales including one they thought was a baby and they were not shy getting close to

40 feet from their bow. the whales stuck with them for 10 to 15 minutes and they shared the video with the atlantic white shark conservancy. so awesome to see a whale and there's so many whales and whale watchs you can go up and downthe coast. >> and even if you seen it before it's like that's awesome. >> it's a killer whale. >> that's what we should do this weekend go on a big whale watching adventure. >> sound perfeeing because the weather is it. showers and thunderstorms going offshore and the wind is not going to be that strong so awesome for this weekend. that's no question about it. how about august so far, well, the temperature is 4 above average. look at the red squares you knowhow warm it's been and to complete the month we have several more red squares so that means it's likely that this august will go into the record books as the warmest august on record certainly warmer than last august and last august was warm as well.

there's a trop scale storm -- tropical storm that was a hurricane but it's likely going to be a hurricane and gaston will move way out in the atlantic and should go east of bermuda and not threaten the united states. we are watching the showers move across northern new england. scattered someones in southern sections as well going through mainly this afternoon. can't rule out a few late this morning but some this afternoon. right now it doesn't look like anything techly severe. the -- particularly severe. that to happen. tomorrow we look for a lot of sunshine but there will be clouds forming inland. clear right along the coast tomorrow and inland clouds partly cloudy and mostly cloudy to inland spots for tomorrow. and locks like beach weather for today looks like it will be in the 80s. overall good a the beaches and high tide early this morning and should be fine at fenway park. any storms should be out of here in time for tonight's game as the sox face royals and gorgeous weather tomorrow

welcome back. 6:23. this morning another reason to get a massachusetts ez pass. when all electronic tolling begins, on the pike this fall, drivers with in- statetransponders will get a discount. it's not new. they get discount at cen stone brighton but come october the proposal will extend it to most tolls in massachusetts. for anyone with an in-state transponder. out of state ez pass users will pay less than those who get a bill in the mail. the summer is sadly winding down and that means it's time for back to school shopping. >> and supplies can add up so we are doing the shopping for you to find the best bargins in this week's summer of savings. we had 8 items on the back to
