breaking news on this sunday evening. asics alarm fire burning in downtown southbridge. the two-story building -- a alarm fire burning in downtown southbridge. the two-story building is fully engulfed in flames. what do we know at this point? >> truck the fire chief just told us there are no serious injuries, which is amazing considering the size of the fire. take a look at the scene. fire crews from as far as worchester are still busy trying to finish the job. this was a fire that could be

a long hot sunday for fire crews and southbridge and more than a dozen other talents as they battle a huge six alarm fire in southbridge. >> it got out of control. the back was on fire. the fire started to spread throughout the building. the rafters caught fire. it lost control. >> reporter: one firefighter suffered heat exhaustion but there are not believed to be any serious injuries. one person rescued >> nobody was found during research of the building. we did rescue one person from the building early on. but we have no reports of anyone else in the building at this time. we have not been able to go back in the building. >> drug the chief says more than a dozen people living in the apartments may be displaced and businesses down below, some of them are in ruins. >> my hairdresser is on the bottom floor. it's a shame.

i saw them earlier and they were crying. i feel so bad for them. >> reporter: once again, no serious injuries and one person was successfully rescued but the sad thing is there is an economic cost here in southbridge. we had people living upstairs but also some businesses down below. the downtown area of this community certainly taking a hit. they are still busy right now. jim smith, children seriously hurt in this accident on the eastbound pike. the range rover they were in rolled over just before 1:00 near exit 13. paramedics flu an 11-year-old and a six-month-old to a medical center. to adults and a third child were not injured. it took emergency crews a full hour to reopen all the lanes. a teenager has been hurt -- has been seriously her in a dirtbike accident.

paramedics flu him to mass general. tonight, a central massachusetts community is in shock. a beloved high school football player has been killed in a crash. austin robbins was a passenger in a car that veered off the road and hit a real trees. as paul burton tells us, investigators say the 19-year- old driver was drunk. >> i can't really believe it just shocked. >> it's awful what happened. >> reporter: students play a football helmet, flowers and a jersey as they try to cope with the loss of their fellow classmate, friend and teammate, number 71, austin robbins, known as aj. >> he was always happy and cared about everybody. >> reporter: the 18-year-old was killed early saturday morning when the car he was a passenger in lost control and crashed. >> i couldn't believe it. i didn't think it was real. >> reporter: police say the 19- year-old kapp gardner crashed

sean mcmanus. heather hunt was with age of the night he was killed. >> none of us thought it would be the last time we saw him.>> reporter: his former teammates say he was a leader on the football team. >> he wasn't just another player. he helped bring the team together. >> reporter: all throughout the day, friends and former classmates continue to comment pay their respects alon aj also leaves behind two other brothers. kyler, and derek who will be a freshman in high school this year. >> his younger brother is on the team. there is a huge loss. there is a lot of grieving that is going to happen over the next few days and weeks, months. >> a family, a school, and a community now dealing with this terrible tragedy. >> we watched them grow up from kindergarten to hear and we hope they have a promising future and then it's gone. >> reporter: the driver of the

vehicle homicide. he is due back in court on monday. i am paul burton, wbz news. police in manchester new hampshire are suspect -- are inspecting a suspicious death. someone walking by prout park discovered a man's body about 7 am this morning. investigators have not released information about the case, not even a cause of death. a man who apparently went around crossing arms was hit and killed by a commuter train it happened at the park street crossing in somerville just before 1:30 pm. witnesses say the arms were down with warning lights flashing and ring didn't when the driver went around them and was hit. an early morning fire destroyed a northborough farmhouse that dates to the 1800s. the three alarm fire tore through the goodrich model house. a northborough firefighter and his family lived there. one person inside suffered smoke inhalation and a firefighter on the scene had to

no word on how those flames started. new england's largest lgbt publication is about to unveil a new newspaper box in ceylon. video shows seven people loading explosives into the rainbow times old mailbox on tuesday morning. shortly after they scrambled away, the box blew up. the publisher says that box hade times in the last two months. the state police bomb squad is investigating but so far, no arrests. this is it. the final weekend in august and it was perfect weather to catch some rays. local beaches were packed with people trying to enjoy every last bit of summer before the kids head back to school. will it last? meteorologist pamela gardner has a first look at that forecast. >> it will last at least for some time. we have an area of high pressure in control with a week cold front on the way in new england but we are tracking the

church as hillary clinton has done. >> reporter: the democratic nominee spent the day fund- raising in the hamptons. trump held no public events. wendy gillette for cbs news, new york. two brothers are facing first-degree murder charges in chicago. they are accused of killing the cousin of nba star dwayne wade. nydia eldredge was pushing a baby stroller when she was shot. police say the suspects were not aiming for the mother of four but missed their intended target and hit her in darwin sorrells was on parole for a gun charge and his brother is a known gang member. reporter: sperry police are keeping their eyes field for an unusual escapee, a goat. police have taken quite a few -- a few calls about the loose goat near main street. no word on who might own the wayward animal or how it escaped. if you have to be looking for a goat, you want perfect goat

temperatures glorious today. cooler along the coast. a little breezy but we will take it. beautiful weather, and a great end to the weekend. this is the last weekend of august. labor day weekend is upon us next weekend. as we have approached the peak of hurricane season, the tropics are blooming in now we have three storms we are tracking here. hurricane gaston, tropical depression number 8 and tropical depression number 9. that one, formerly known as -- formerly known as invest 99 l. i want to show you the track of these. hurricane gaston is a major hurricane -- hurricane, category three of wins up to 115 miles per hour. this is well east of bermuda and will continue to go out to see. not affecting us in the eastern coast of the u.s. but we will see some of those churning waters and riptide risks.

making landfall. tropical depression 8, this one off the coast of the scare -- of the carolinas. this one could affect the outer banks of the tropical storm and it may head out to see. there is still some uncertainty if i could track close to new england. we will update you on that. with those two storms, increased surf and rip current risk. tropical depression 9, max winds of 35 miles per hour between cund the exact track. it is going to have that boomerang effect and move toward jacksonville, fl toward the end back of the week. very interesting. we will keep you updated but very heavy rain moving towards florida and some gusty winds for us. it has been so dry. we continue to have the dry count on the map for the month of august and it looks like to

hour by hour, a cold front approaching overnight that may trigger showers to our north and west. otherwise, we are dry. not a lot of moisture with this system. a few sprinkles, maybe some clouds here and there monday afternoon. good if you have any plans to be outside but not so good for the lawns. the drought conditions continue. many water bans are in effect. make sure you are up to date on that. dew point temperatures will be a factor tomorrow morning. we going to the low and mid xts and then through, the dew point temperatures go back into the 50s. that means it will be rather comfortable late monday going into your tuesday. today, we had 78 degrees, right on target for the average high this time of year. temperatures have cooled into the 70s and 80s for some. 76 degrees in boston. overnight low dipping to 60 degrees. areas of patchy fog developing with high temperatures tomorrow in the 90s easily as we get a dominant west northwest breeze. tomorrow, if you are heading to

the patriots, all the attention has been on the roster. tom brady, jimmy garoppolo and friday night, jimmy g at the start completing nine of 15 passes. brady showed flashes of brilliance. most notably a 30 yard touchdown to chris hogan but it was the third quarterback that was perfect on the night literally. playing against mostly backups, co ball nine times and completed all nine, mostly on say for short passes but still, the kid looked pretty good and has progressed nicely throughout camp despite the fewest amount of reps. he may start the finale thursday against the giants but even if he doesn't, he is pleased with his progress to this point. >> definitely with progress and time and play more, practicing more. so you get more familiar with things we are doing. it's still a process of learning and getting better. >> >>reporter: what does a night like i do for you?

don't look now but just when the red sox needed it most, the lefty is pitching like the ace they knew he was. his last four starts, 4-0 with 24 strikeouts and an era with 28 innings of work. dustin pedroia will miss tonight's game. he had four hits last night for the second straight game before grounding out in his final at- bat. 11 straight games and one shy of the major league record. dustin can't really explain what he is doing and says being this hot is simply being part of the game. >> it's baseball. it's a crazy game. pitchers. just one of those things. you are locked in. those guys are really tough. you just have hot streaks. >> reporter: josh donaldson knows quite a bit about being red-hot. he was first at bat and just getting started. he homered in the 7th even the jays the lead at ex-date to 5.

tonight, a site that is really out of this world. the nasa juno aircraft took this photo of jupiter. you can clearly make out the giant red spot as well as some bands and some swirls. we are expecting more awesome images over the next few weeks. let's check on the forecast with pamela. >> the beautiful weather continues and it looks like it's going to be a hot one as we get early in the morning, temperatures fall into the mid- 60s with areas of patchy fog. high humidity early and then decreasing throughout the day. there is a chance of a sprinkles but most of our rain not moving in a tell thursday. after that, i pressure moves in and high temperatures take a tumble into the 70s. some fall air, very crisp. the end of labor day weekend looking much hotter and labor day in the 90s. dry for now. >> up and down. >> it is. >> that's it for now.
