new overnight, a fire inside an abandoned warehouse in pitsfield is being called suspicious. the fire sparked inside the former site of the jb paper company last night, officials say there were a lot of flammable products inside causing the flames to spread quickly and spark several explosions. no one was hurt. fire chief says the fire is suspicious because there is no electricity to that building. a developing story in new hampshire, a concord man drowns while trying to save four children. this happened yesterday afternoon ro bristol. the children ages 7, 8, 10, and 13 were playing in the water when one of them started to struggle. a 39-year-old relative jumped in to help but he went under and did not resurface. other people there rescued the children and then pulled the adult's body from the water. a disturbing discovery. police find dozens of dangerous weapons inside a local man's home and investigators say he wanted to target police, muslims and president obama. >> wbz anna miler is live in

looked on in shock as the fbi raided this home right here where they discovered parts to make an ar-15 rifle, ammunition, tasers, hunting knives, and more. and officials say this man was getting ready to use them. joseph garguilo faced a judge in federal court monday just days after the fbi raided his home. uncovering a stockpile of weapons. neighbors watched in disbelief. >> they are taking out weapons, computers, paperwork, things that you make bombs with. >> reporter: an that's not all. officials say they discovered handwritten notes threatening violent attacks against members of the islamic state and say he also twoontd harm president obama. according to court documents, the 40-year-old said he wants to plant bombs in police station and kill as many as homeland security officers as he can before they kill him. an acquaintance recently told the fbi, garguilo was about to

moved just in time. >> reporter: his attorney says the accusations aren't true. >> he is very distressed over this. as i've told you upstairs, he denies all these allegations. he denies making any threats to anybody. he's a father of two wonderful children. >> reporter: but neighbors say they've always had a bad geelg about garguilo and they're relieved he's off their street for now. >> to me he was a walking time bomb. and he was so explosive in his nature with his actions that i stayed away from him. >> reporter: a law enforcement source says the fbi is now going through his computers to collect more evidence. he will back in court tomorrow for a detention hearing. today crews will begin installing new safety barriers that was at -- that was the site of a deadly crash. nicole.

barrels down this hill -- barreling down this hill, through the intersection and slamming into sweet tomatoes restaurant. right now it's just orange cones soon to be replaced by concrete barriers. this was a crash the newton community won't soon forget. a car plowing into sweet tomatoes restaurant during the busy dinner rush, two people were killed that day. and seven others injured. it's been months since the doors here have opened to customers. construction has been underway installation of safety barriers known as ral lards. >> i say sure, ryan, i think we should as a precautionary measure. >> reporter: the city of newton approved that safety measure, it's one experts say can save lives. >> you're not thinking about the vehicles driving by in the parking lot behind you. and so you -- you probably will never see the vehicle coming if it were to enter the store. >> reporter: newton continues to deal with these painful memories

prevent another tragedy like this. construction to install these barriers begins today. there's no word, though, on when sweet tomatoes will reopen. we're live in newton. nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. new this morning, students in mall den heading back to class today but some will have to find a new way. according to the globe, the city is dropping school bus service for some students. this will impact students in a necessary step to help the school department which is facing a $2.5 million budget gap. this will help them save about $400,000. a daring rescue in rhode island. two workers left dangth beneath -- dangling beneath a bridge. >> reporter: those workers were left dangling off that bridge for more than an hour as crews worked to rescue them. the two state bridge inspectors were in that bucket when the

those men. they transport -- transferred the workers into another bucket and hoisted them back to the bridge. >> we had a heavy wrecker come in and secure the truck so that it wouldn't tip any further over. >> the men were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. officials say their truck malfunctioned. an investigation is underway to figure out what went wrong. traffic was stopped for several hours during that rescue operation. >> thank you. new development duck boat crash. the duck boat operator has now been cited for over height violations and fined $100. the driver says he was only on that road because protesters forced a detour from beacon strite. no one was hurt but part of the roof was ripped off in the crash. an uber driver banned accused of exposing himself to girls. 28-year-old paul griffen of mall den was arraigned yesterday for at least one incident in

incident in boston. none of the victims were passengers but instead they were pedestrians. now following this arrest, everett's mayor is now calling for action from state lawmakers to amend legislation and immediately require thorough background checks and fingerprinting. another sexting scandal for former new york congressman anthony weiner. this time it's costing him his marriage. the new york post released photos and messages that weiner reportedly sent to a woman. in one of them he was next to his 4-year-old son. his wife saying enough. donald trump using that sexting scandal to question hillary clinton's judgment. it comes just one day before he said -- he is set to deliver a major immigration policy speech. hannah daniels has more for us. >> reporter: hillary clinton pressed on with fund-raising in the hampton's monday. amid, yet, another distraction

aide huma abedin announced her split from husband anthony weiner hours after the new york post published a lewd photo he allegedly sent to a woman as his toddler son lay next to him. weiner's sexting habit forced him to resign from the house of representatives five years ago and drop out of the new york city mayoral race in 2013. the latest scandal provided new fader to donald trump who used the incident to blast classified information. how hillary got away with that one, nobody will ever know. but to think that it's very likely that much of this information anthony weiner would know about. >> reporter: trump who was -- who has been courting minority voters drew criticism monday after david duke released a robocall, encourage louisiana voters to cast their votes for his senate bid. and for the republican nominee.

. three shark sightings off the cape yesterday. all three were off the coast. the new app sent out alerts about those sightings. they confirmed one of the sightings was a great white shark ben who has been detected off coast guard beach 4:00 a.m. on saturday. >> ben is shark researchers weren't done yet. working with the atlantic white shark controversy they tagged a 11-foot shark yesterday. did you notice how close to shore those shark sightings were? >> yeah. >> they were like on the beach, pretty much. >> like, yeah. >> which is. >> not cool. >> which is where i might stay for the rest of the season -- >> not going in the water. are you a big water person?

for some wet weather. but not until we get to wednesday night and thursday. so partly cloudy, 58 to 64 in the suburbs. tonight 68 downtown. again 80 to 85 this afternoon. but we bump it up tomorrow. check it out. 90 in boston. a lot of us here merrimack valley, metro west right around 90 degrees. 85 to 90 from fitchburg to manchester. 85 in new bedford and right around 80 on cape cod. it will be muggy tomorrow. it does look mainly dry. the disturbance going to be bringing thunderstorms will pass across northern and central new england. but for us we wait until wednesday night, thursday morning to get into some scattered showers and this front will be slowly pressing over new england on thursday. so the afternoon and evening will feature some scattered showers and downpours. unfortunately it does not look like anything too substantial. we obviously need the rainfall. there will be some locally heavy downpours south of the pike.

and evening. a lot going on in the tropics. gaston category two hurricane, hundred 1 -- 100 miles per hour wind. it's still out in the atlantic. tropical depression nine, you see the center here, a lot of the thunderstorms are focused on the southeast side. this could become a tropical storm later on today. it's going to curve up and impact parts of the gulf coast. tropical depression eight is also gaining some organization. so that too may become a tropicto list, her mooeb & -- hermine and ian. they will stay south. 70s to end the week. so a little bit cooler but bright sunshine. the holiday weekend looking fantastic. traffic and weather together. >> there's a disabled vehicle in the o'neil tunnel right now. it's the northbound lanes. it's blocking the shoulder right before the government center exit. we're hoping this doesn't have a domino effect on the expressway. kind of hard to tell right now.

minutes from braintree to boston. we will keep our eye on this. that accident in randolph has been cleared but the damage is done. look at the back-up. you are bumptory bumper from exit 17 in brockton all the way to 128. about a 25 minute delay there. cautious but committed. that's how the federal transit administration feels about an extension of the green line. according to the "boston globe", the fta held its transportation secretary the federal agency wants to clarify some information on the project before sng committed in principal to funding the light rail extension into medford and summerville. most of our state suffering from a severe drought, everett source says it's keeping a close eye on trees. crews will be inspecting trees. if everett source finds trees that are dangerous they will be trimmed or taken down. investigators in wilmington trying to figure out what sparked this brush fire.

fueled the flames yesterday. crews from several towns battled the fire. officials said it was substantially extinguished. it's here once again, the kids are headed back to school and the u.s. department of education sharing some tips for parents to help start the year off right. they say parents should visit the school and introduce yourself to your child's teacher. being familiar with the school and staff can deposit a long way in ensuring safety also make sure homework is a priority for your preparing a specific study area that has distractions removed. and students in wilmington go back to class today. officials have a message for you. >> keep calm and set your alarm. the town of wilmington tweeted this out yesterday. they are urging parents and other drivers to plan their commutes accordingly. and remember always drive safely. maybe set up a back-up alarm. >> definitely. my kids have been sleeping way

this morning. nicole. >> reporter: chris, this is the intersection with that vehicle came ramming through and then slammed right into the sweet tomatoes restaurant. there are cones now there but concrete barriers will soon replace those. i want to get you some video from that deadly day in march. you can see it was absolute destruction and chaos. two people were killed, search others injured during the busy dinner rush. the city recently approved concrete safety devices to be installed. experts say these barriers can save lives. taking it another look here on washington street, we are told the construction here outside of the restaurant is set to begin today. there's no word on when the restaurant will reopen. that's the very latest from newton. nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. terrifying moments for a

missing a mother and two children. a car shot that -- the bullet came dangerously close to the family epinside. luckily no one was hurt. the security camera did capture some of the grainy surveillance video but police say they cannot identify the car. >> lay down on the bed, and the car drive in here and so she got so panicked and she start to cry and we call -- and she called the police. >> reporter:. >> police are analyzing the bullet they recovered from the home hoping it will help them find the shooter. today marks one year sin the new hampshire woman was killed while out for a walk. no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of denise robert. police have gone door to door searching for information in manchester new hampshire with little being made public about the investigation. they're still asking the public

a quincy police lieutenant has been indicted on charges he defrauded his own department. 51-year-old thomas corliss collected double pay by working double shifts that overlapped on multiple occasions back in 2015. they also claim he collected his regular pay while on vacation. defrauding the police department out of more than $10,000. some controversial comments from secretary of state john kerry in bangladesh on a stop in the country's capital, kerry told reporters, quote, perhaps service if they didn't cover it quite as much. kerry was talking about terrorism. he expressed his concerns about terrorism in south asia after a series of militant attacks. 20 people including 17 foreigners were killed in an attack at a popular restaurant last month. an tone wiener at the center of another sexting scandal. this time it's costing him his marriage. and while he is yet again the butt of many jokes, or john keller explains why this is anything but a laughing matter.

everything. a successful career on the rise, a beautiful wife, and more recently a healthy son. but after his latest sexting scandal, this one including an inappropriate picture of himself with a little boy asleep nearby, it's all gone, or soon will be. izz his political career is long gone. his wife, a top aide to hillary clinton is levering him. and after his latest display of abysmal judgment, you can deliberations will go. and after two previous appalling episodes where the former congressman was caught texting with strange women the jokes all but write themselves. while enjoy a good laugh, i don't find this especially amusing. anthony weiner is at best an addict, at worst, he's suffering from a serious mental illness. medical experts still argue over whether or not sexting is a

risky behavior, even after the sexter is publically humiliated anned damage to career and family relationships is clear, well that's all a sign of serious personal problems. and how many times do we have to see stories of the damage sexting can do to people before we stop giggling about it. anthony weiner is not an especially sympathetic character. he was a harsh angry partisan in congress self-inflicted. but we live in a age where mental illness is just starting to get the serious sober attention and understanding it requires. it would be a shame if wiener's pathetic saga were to set back that progress. if you have a comment to share, do so use twitter. a wrong line couple -- brookline is hoping a person who slashed their sign -- their
