christina-- >> reporter: he's employed as an uber driver, but according to the district attorney, the alleged victim didn't use the ride share app to hire him. she called him directly. uber, the very mention of the word in a courtroom touches a nerve after a string of problems involving drivers for popular ride >> wilson breek -- he had driven her before. this time he came in to use the bathroom. >> she was on her bed and the defendant stated sorry, i'm going to have to take this. she then indicated that he grabbed her handbag and a bag of medicine she had sitting on the bed. >> she was not at the woman's home in connection with work as an uber driver. and she invited him in.

[ overlapping speakers ] >> this one day after another uber driver was in court, accused of exposing himself to two women in his vehicle in everett. governor charlie baker says legislation in massachusetts would ensure that if a driver is arrested, uber will be notified. >> if anybody under the new law breaks the law, weevil find out about it. and we'll be in a position to notify the transportation networking company about it. >> reporter: and as for the driver, wilson brea entered a not guilty plea and the judge set bail at $500.

our full attention. a lot of activity in the tropics. >> and it's looking like a close call with the tropical system for the holiday weekend. >> you've been tracking six storms. >> extremely busy in the tropics. in the atlantic, we have tropical depression 9 that interests us the most. tropical depression 8, gas ton has been producing a lot of surf the last couple of days, and a new wave that's moved off both of these hurricanes are supposed to make close passes with hawaii over the course of the week. this is a rare event, two back to back hurricanes. and tropical depression 9 just getting organized. this has been a slow mover. and a slow one to get going. and if we look at the latest track, it takes the storm to the big bend of florida. still quite a ways to watch this before it comes to florida. and as we head to the end of

latest track including parts of cape cod and the islands. the cone is wide at the end because there's less certainty. as we head into the weekend, we're mainly dry on friday, likely drive on saturday. and sunday and monday there's a chance the system could get drawn back to new england. we could use the rain but we don't we'll talk more coming up in a bit. now at 6:00. will it be an early exit for the controversial governor of maine. hinting at a resignation a day after making controversial comments, this time targeting massachusetts. maine's governor is blaming our cities for the increase in drug arrests in his state. >> he named people from lowell

offenders. paul burton has the story. >> the heroin fentanyl arrests are not white people. they are hispanic and black and they are from lowell and lawrence, massachusetts. >> reporter: these are the comments that have governor page on the hot seat. >> just a long line of ignorant comments he's made. >> reporter: he was asked about the opioid crisis and bringing drugs from other states. >> it was offensive and sad. >> i was a little bit outraged and surprised. i think it shows that the governor of maine is ill informed about the issue completely and doesn't have a good understanding. >> the comment didn't sit well with the lawrence mayor. >> we're the new england states, we should be working together. we shouldn't be figuring out

>> reporter: he came under fire because of an object seen voice mail. he apologized and made reference to a possible resignation, after he quickly tweeted out to paraphrase mark twain, the rumors of my resignation are greatly exaggerated. >> it's really not a matter of blame at all. paul burton, wbz news. the teenage girl sexually assaulted by a classmate at a prep school came forward to tell her story. >> it's been two years since the whole ordeal. and i feel ready to stand up and own what happened to me. and i'm going to make sure that other people, other girls, other boys don't have to be ashamed either. >> she was disgusted when owen

lesser charge of misdemeanor assault last year. her family is suing the school arguing it should have done more to protect her. the school denies there was a culture or tradition of sexual assault. >> all new at 6:00, a fire chief involved in countless rescues needed help himself. he had a medical emergency in the middle of a training session and says if not for his guys, he wouldn't be alive today. >> it's definitely different when it's one of your own. >> about five minutes into the phone training session, something happened to the chief. >> it appeared he was seizing. called out his name, chief, chief, chief. his heart stopped and he was in cardiac arrest. >> for some a friend of nearly four decades, had a heart attack. they rushed to bring him back

their job is to deliver letters to your home in rain, sleet, or snow. but know mail carriers in winchester are sending a message of their own. no rail, no mail. at issue is this section of the walkway. there's no railing that leads to the mailbox at the front or especially in the wintertime. and it's time to stick to the letter of the law. ryan kath has the story. >> reporter: he has no problem climbing the front steps. that's why he was surprised to get a recent letter from the post office. >> i read this. what's this all about? >> reporter: his mailbox would have to be moved out to the

the next approaching cold front. and you know all about the tropics. a lot of activity going on and we'll track that in a moment. just another warm, beautiful night. 70s to lower 80s, and the humidity is low. and it's not going to last. you'll notice the humidity start to climb and certainly it will be here by tomorrow morning. it won't be quite as cool. temperatures in the 60s with a few clouds, and then tomorrow, day. muggy in the morning. and partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s by lunchtime. and a more sticky air mass. and towards the evening. thickening clouds, and we'll make a run at 90 degrees. if it happens in boston, it would be the 21st 90-degree day of the year. and province town up to 80. if you're heading to the shore, more big waves thanks to hurricane gaston out in the atlantic. tomorrow night after sunset.

we would like to see that develop. and the best chance of rain will be overnight and then into the day on thursday, some scattered showers and downpours are likely. with that a lot of clouds, so thursday is a pretty unsettled weather day for us. and we'll see clearing from northwest to southeast as we head into the evening to wrap up the day. our attention is all about the tropics. so tropical depression 9 is looking more organized this evening. a lot of heavy rain and rain is going to be the for florida as this moves across on thursday. it's a slow mover. and once it gets to the east coast, it's going to slip out to sea and then move back to the west. the latest track includes a portion of far southeastern new england. that cone gets wider at the end because uncertainty is much larger the forwarder you go out in time. so the biggest question is when

of high pressure? or will it get blocked out to sea? how all these players unfold will have a big impact on the forecast. the timing is sunday to monday and if the ridge can build up over the top of it. it's going to trap the system and drive back to new england and bring us rainfall and a chance for stronger wind gusts. and at that time it might not be fully tropical. it might be going under a transition to a normal type cyclone. the 7-day forecast. cooler temperatures for friday, saturday and sunday. and sunday the clouds start to move in. and late sunday to monday we'll keep a close eye on where this storm tracks. >> wessie, the 10-foot snake who has westbrook, maine on alert. scientists are saying that genetic testing on the huge snake skin shows that wessie
