breaking news at 5:30 an 11-year-old boy was shot somewhere near his face in a home. we do know he is in stable condition. >> this was an accidental shooting. we know he has been rushed to a boston-area hospital. >> we are additional law enforcement activities right now. >> were adults in the home at the time when this happened? >> i'm not aware of that. >> [ inaudible question ] >> i don't have that information. >> we are live now, would you mind briefly for our audience kind of restating what you know at this point, sir? >> i would say at 3:21 this afternoon we received a call regarding a shooting that happened here. as a result of that we responded for an incident where an 11 year-old boy appears to have

that young boy has been transported to the hospital and flighted to a boston hospital. we believe he is doing okay right know. any gunshot wound is dangerous and anything can happen. our thoughts and prayers go out to that little boy. also at the same time the police -- the police and the state police are also doing a great job trying to figure out what happened. when we have that information we will give it out when >> stable condition? >> stable condition. >> [ inaudible question ] >> like i said the d.a. said the investigation is on going. we are currently investigating all that. >> what was it like for your -- [ indiscernible ] [ inaudible question ] >> well i'm certainly as you could imagine it is a very difficult call to go on.

it is a tragic issue and a tragic situation. our offices will receive after care in certainly counseling as a result. >> so we have been listening in to this tragedy this afternoon. two boys in a home together, one shot. he is 11-year-old transferred to boston in stable condition. jim smith is on the scene gathering information from investigators. he will be following that story. for now at 5:30 with held cancer medication from her sick son finally -- [ indiscernible ] >> she insisted she didn't give her son chemo therapy because she despised the side affects. she is now free.

from prison in april. she won't be going back. today she admit what had he has denied for so many years that purposely refusing to give her son chemo therapy drugs was atemthed -- attempted murder in the eyes of the law. >> can you explain? >> she spent five years in state prison thinking about and it doing things that bettered herself. it was timeor to move on. >> she was convicted of attempted murder in 2011 for failing to give her autistic son the home chemo therapy. as a result prosecutors say his very curable cancer morphed into lethal leukemia. >> he was not a footnote, he was child. it was our job to speak for him and be his voice. >> prosecutors argue that labrie was a bitter and resentful single mom who had --

of her disabled sickly son. >> putting anybody in her shoes they might understand. i don't understand. he wasn't there. >> in april they tossed out her conviction. >> add college degree. rather than retry her, prosecutors accepted her guilty plea for the five years she has always served. >> justice has been served today with the defendant admitting her guilt and what she did and didn't do in the care of her child.

she has already served five years of an 8-10 year sentence. by the time prosecutors get her to another trial she will almost be eligible for parole now to the storm watch tonight as we are tracking tropical storm hermine. it is more and more likely that this system will affect us here in new england. i think the biggest impact will be some enhanced surf, some rough seas, some cloud cover and maybe some powerhouse storm moving toward us is unlikely. we are still four to five days out. right now tropical storm with 45 mile per hour winds. hurricane watches are up in coastal parts of florida and extending over to the panhandle. also tropical storm warnings underneath all those hurricane watches. that happening tomorrow night. now as we watch this, over the course of the next couple of days, we are dry on friday, we are likely dry on saturday as

pressure keep the storm just off to our south on sunday and monday? if that is the case we are talking about some scattered showers, some gusty breezes and a very high surf but that would be about it. it is all hinging on where this storm will stall out as we head into sunday and monday. at the same time we are watching a pair of storms out in the pacific. lester will pass to the all right. well investigators have cleared a police officer of any wrong doing in the shooting of a suspect last month. police were chasing 27-year-old michael clark when they say clark hit an officer and dragged him with his car. the officer shot the man wounding him in order to stop him. the district attorney says the use of force was justified. every one survived. a woman is recovering

closer look. the police officer was trying to arrest the driver on an outstanding felony warrant. that woman drove off with the officer hanging on to the side of her car. right here she ran over both of the officers legs and giving limb a concussion. that woman is now in custody. a driver backed up right into a gas pump knocking it over on to the car on you see one woman pumping gas had to jump out of the way and fire started almost instantly. other drivers rushed out of their own cars trying to rescue children trapped in the burning vehicle. thankfully no one was hurt. more than 300 firefighters in california trying to get this ranging wildfire under control. flames already burned about 700 acres in riverside county forcing evacuations there

it will be rather muggy outdoors. tomorrow humid as well till late in the day. high temperatures close to 80. staying in the 70s in southeastern massachusetts where it will be more humid and we will have more clouds. let's talk about the tropics. we have hermine which is a tropical storm looking much more organized this evening. it is also starting it's move offer to the -- off to the north and east. the progression today compared to yesterday is -- now we know coastline as we head through these next few days. if question mark is how far north will this storm get. what will happen is a big ridge of high pressure builds over the northeast, that closes the escape hatch. in essence the storm can't get out to sea. it gets locked in around the coastline and it will sit and spin. there are some indications koit -- it could hang around for days. for us all the impact comes down

come to a halt. as we look towards sunday and monday, we expect a storm that may no longer be tropical that is going to be a off to our south. that rain could come right up to the coastline and stop. would that night be a stop in the face for our drought? if it gets a little farther north we could get some beneficial rainfall. either way we get rough seas, we get a rip current risk and can a coastal erosion also at the least some gusty breezes. that includes the bank which many have been requesting about. we are dry on friday. we are dry on saturday. sunday into monday is when we could bring in some of that rainfall. tomorrow a chance for a couple of showers. we are dry for friday and

are watching a storm that is looking more and more like it could cause some trouble for our holiday weekend. >> it comes from the tropics and may bring us some rain and wind. we want to get right to eric fisher with the latest. >> the latest advisory in from the hurricane center now a tropical storm. we have been watching this system for over two weeks now just reaching tropical storm status today. it's ne mexico. it is starting it's move toward the florida panhandle. that is where it is expected to make landfall late tomorrow night or early on friday morning. the part of the track that is still a little bit up in the air is as it moves away from the mid-atlantic. we are expecting a lot of heavy rain this weekend and wind. as it gets up towards long

is the expectation. notice at this time not expected to be a very powerful storm at that particular moment. in the short term the biggest threat here is flood and rainfall. for us as we look towards friday we are still dry, we get into saturday, we are still dry to start the weekend. the question mark for our forecast is as we head into sunday and monday will this area of high pressure anchor over new england and keep this stall just either way we will get some rip currents, rough seas, and a chance for coastal erosion. our question comes into will the rain bands get right up to southern new england or will they cover southern new england and bring in rain for sunday into monday? we will talk more about that coming up in a bit. we have a number of stories
