breaking at 11:00 p.m. tropical storm hermine strengthseninging -- strengthing. taking aim at florida. a young boy shot in the face while playing with a friend. >> and a new england mother rushing to save her child from a fiery crash at gas station. how she rescued him with seconds to spare. >> live from the channel 4 studios in boston, wbz new s at 11:00 p.m. starts breaking right now at 11:00 p.m. tropical storm hermine gaining strength and churning towards florida tonight and it could have an impact on our labor day weekend. a teenager is of emergency for parts of the gulf of mexico. it could become a hurricane by tomorrow. the rain started flooding neighborhood by tampa. >> let's get to eric fisher. a close eye on this one.

more strengthening with hermine. 60 miles per hour sustained winds. picking up forward speed, moving to the north, northeast at 10 and takes it in this direction through the next 24 hours. it is not the same on both sides. strongest winds, heaviest rainfall on the eastern side, more heavy rain for florida. they have seen land ting around tampa. hurricane warn -- flooding around tampa. hurricane warnings. tropical storm warnings on either side. here is the latest track. land fall late tomorrow night, towards friday, moves up the eastern seaboard. what happens towards this weekend? dome of high pressure over new england. that will stall the system. south of long island into the

question at this hour. investigators tell us the gun was legally owned but the two boys were somehow able to get their hands on it and then one of them got shot. >> reporter: police returned to the scene wednesday night. gathering evidence, coming back. a spot where the unthinkable happened. a boy, 11-years-old shot in the face accidentally. the victim somehow got a hold of a hand gun and inthgun went off -- the gun went off. >> the kid was covered with blood in the face. they were playing together. >> reporter: the victim was rushed to the hospital and then airlifted to a boston hospital where he was listed in stable condition. it is unclear if an adult was home at the time. the da said the gun was legally

somebody did not try intentionally hurt somebody. we have to see what direction we will go. >> reporter: the shooting shocked the neighborhood. people are devastated. >> i panicked. i panicked big time. you don't expect anything like that to happen here. but, you know, so many -- i hear so often kids get a of a gun. >> reporter: once again this boy is in stable condition. that was the last report from investigators. police who responded to the scene, they are having problems as well because of what they went through. they are offered counseling. jim smith, wbz news. police are stepping up patrols after a woman says a stranger approached her while she was out for a gun.

others in the wake of another jobber's unsolved murder. she was killed while running. we wanted to get to wbz's louisa moller who is live tonight. >> reporter: the jogger also sent a detail message to her friends and the police chief is telling residents if they feel anything suspicious, they should not hesitate to call the police. >> repo: headed towards me as i have runsing. >> reporter: this is the message -- running. >> reporter: this is the message the woman sent to her friends after an eerie experience during her morning jog. a neighbor read it to us. >> the driver slowed down. stopped. at this point i was sandwiched. >> the jogger was alone tuesday when she says a suspicious van drove towards

what happened next, still gives her goose bumps. >> would you like water, that is weird. she was, like, backing up to get away from him and saw someone in the back. she high tailed it to get away and called the authorities. >> reporter: recent news, the murder of another jogger. less than 15 miles away. the killing is still unsolved. >> we wa everyone walks in the neighborhood. >> reporter: the jogger was able to provide police with a description. a large green van and a marshall massachusetts registration 930. once again the chief says residents are his eyes and ears. come forward if you have any information. no matter how small. the jogger described the man as a man in his 50s or 60s.

[ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: earlier wednesday trump met with mexican president enrique pena nieto calling it a success but saying they didn't discuss who would pay for the wall. >> we did discuss the wall. we didn't discuss payment of the wall. >> reporter: wednesday night president enrique pena nieto suggesting that is not true.

shuttle bus as it was heading to a hotel. no charges against the car driver. mother is free tonight after finally admitting that she with held cancer treatment from her dying son. she pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to time served. she spent 5 years in prison before the state's highest court granted her a new trial. she denied treatment to her son saying it would sicker. the boy died in 2009. >> will this ever not leave her mind? i don't think so. she will live with it the rest of her life. >> she had a plea deal. she has to serve 5 years probation. the plan to equip boston police officers with body cameras is on hold. the program was supposed to start friday. the union went to court asking to temporarily stop the

will be building over the next 24 hours. then the track up the eastern seaboard and then full stop. atlantic city. what happens is it runs into a ridge of high pressure over new england and it will stit and stall here south of long island. the point where that stops is going to have the biggest impact on our forecast for labor day weekend. ridge building up over new england and north atlantic. it will stop and it will cut off. at this point it will become a post tropical storm. won't be a tropical storm or hurricane. it will be like a nor'easter sunday and monday. headlines right now, we will see high surf, rip currents this holiday weekend. saturday, sunday and monday. that is a guarantee. i wouldn't cancel any plans at this point. if the storm stalls south of

showers or no rain. from new york city to new jersey and towards d.c. mid- atlantic more at risk. driest weekend to the north. across northern new england, vermont, new hampshire, maine, unlikely we will get rainfall. no concerns there. highest rain odds towards the south coast, cape, rhode island and connecticut. wait and see mode. i am not expecting a big powerful storm to have a high our weekend, dry on friday and saturday. we will see increasing high cloudiness saturday. the surf gets higher. on monday, labor day, that the where we have the highest chance of seeing rain. tonight, watching clouds, showers. scattered showers continue into tomorrow morning. out the door, down pours. even thunder possible as we start the day.
