georgia. this is the radar signature spiral bands of rain and rain-- i got to tell you 19 inches of rain at baskin florida. serious flooding going on down there. maximum sustained winds were 70 miles per hour. i am sure they dropped down since this statement was issued at 5. and anyway the storm is moving to the north northeast at 14 miles an hour. so it's going to take a track about like this along coast and then out here over the necessarily as a tropical storm. it's going to be subtropical storm characteristics may turn it into a perhaps a tropical storm again whatever it's going to be a lot of wind spinning around and around and rotating for days and days. what does that mean for us? some of that wind and rain will pivot up into new england and most likely on labor day. some of the winds will start increasing on sunday. so we are going to have some periods of rain in southern new england. hardly anything up north.

flames burned through a duplex last night. neighbors heard what they thought were several explosions but the globe reports the noises were caused when carbon dioxide cartridges from a pellet gun were burning. no one was hurt and the fire appears to have started in the garage. investigators are trying to figure out a cause. also lasers pointed at three planes in massachusetts. >> the faa and state police are investigating. wbz anna meiler is live at logan with all anna. >> reporter: and kate this can be extremely dangerous for pilots because the lasers can blind them while they are flying. all three incidents happened wednesday night within 30 minutes. the first incident was just before 9:00a green laser pointed at a small plane in north adams. at 9:17 and american airplanes plane was head by a green laser. two minutes later's delta maine reported the same thing.

were both 10 miles northeast of the airport when they were ilhume nated. the fa -- illuminateed: reporting live at logan airport, anna meiler. this morning a tractor trailer driver is questioned by police. he is accused of hitting a milford woman and leaving her to die. police say 64-year-old barbara clement was hit by the truck on main street yesterday afternoonand died almost instantly. investigators quickly released surveian truck and two hours later the driver turned himself in. >> barbara was our maid of honor and we are celebrating our 35th anniversary on tuesday. the day after labor day. it's tough news we received from my nephew. >> clement was a milford townconstable and long time member of the national guard. no charges have been filed againsts driver so glr. -- so far. a baby-sitter facing

the incident raises concerns about a popular online service. nicole jacobs is live with a closer look at the investigation. nicole. >> reporter: kate, the family found the baby-sitter through care.com. police say it is unclear exactly what the company does as far as protocol with background checks. but this morning they are urging parents to do more than what the company says they do. police responded to the onegerton road on wednesday afternoon arriving to find a 51- year-old woman susan devereaux. police say she was so drunk and high she even tried to go into the wrong home. if not for an alert resident. >> after the resident noticed a woman stumbling in the neighborhood. >> reporter: susan devereaux's action may have never been reported. >> she was in a condition enough so someone on the street saw her and knew it was not

police, she was so disoriented she even tried this. >> she had been attempting to enterer's home but the home was not the -- enter a home but it was not the right home. >> reporter: arlington authorities arrived and determined she was drunk and high on prescription medication all while caring for a 3-year- old boy she was baby-sitting. >> who used this person multiple times in the past and never saw anything like this prior to that. >> reporter: the 51-year-old has a past police record related to stolen property motor vehicle violations. her baby-sitting service came through care.com. company released a statementreading -- released a statement reading in part safety is of paramount importance and when any safety incident occurs it hits us hard. it's unclear what protocols the company use but police say there's more parents can do. >> do your due diligence in that a website or you know a referral by one person really is not enough.

but per protocol dcf was notified. i should add police found alcohol empty containers in the woman's vehicle. she is facing a charge of child endangerment. live in arlington, nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. >> scary story thanks very much. 6:07. this morning a new york family is calling for a federal investigation after their 5- year-old son was put on the wrong plane all by himself and ended up at logan instead of jfk. maribel martinez had 5-year-old andy flown from dominican republic to new york but when she went to pick him up she was met with another 5-year-old child with her child's passport. her child ended up in boston andthe other child in new york. >> i was told to wait and the police arrived. i was desperate going crazy.

most kids his age are in middle school this wiz kid started his freshman year at cornell. 12-year-old jeremy schuller is the youngest person to attend the ivy league school he was home schooled and aced the acts at 10. he was happy to accept the prodigy as long as his parents moved to ithaca new york so he could live at home. unbelievable that he is just 12 ar and someone with a 13-year-old a-year-older than this child i can barely get her to do homework for 8th grade year. i mean. >> first just acing the s.a.t. is ridiculous. >> we couldn't do that at 17 could we. >> boggles my mind. >> don't let him into college parties not at all too young. barry busy day. >> ready for the weekend. >> i am but not for the storm to ruin my monday.

moved in overnight after yesterday's really muggy conditions. it's going to be very pleasant with low humidity today and tomorrow. we have got high temperatures going up to 75 to 78 today. maybe a little cooler on outer part of cape cod and winds won't be strong but will come in onshore coming from the north and going northeast and east about 5 to 10 miles an hour. starting out nice and sunny with a few scattered clouds but more clouds will pop up during the day and can't rule out a couple isolated showers this afternoon over inland spot just isolated and not amounting to too much in most spots. now tomorrow, the high cloudiness comes up from the south from that storm to the south. of course hermine but not that much thickening up at all in southern new he canland a few streamers of the heathery cirrus clouds as we call them. so where is hermine? in georgia a trop scale storm -- tropical storm now and is backening and producing the spiral bands of heavy rainfall.

inches of rain. a lot of flooding going on down there as the storm tracks northeast along the coast weakening through savannah to wilmington to near hatteras and after that it moves offshore and may actually start to intensify more. whether it's a tropical system or a extra tropical system it's going to produce a lot of wind and churning up the seas out here with all the plume of rain coming up the eastern seaboard. that heavy rain is going to be south of new england but eventually we will see spiral bands coming into the area. now we will increase. note the time stamp on sunday it thickens up and there's the rain bands and we will have you know certainly high surf out of that and we will have certainly a dangerous rip currents and we will have northeast gales of 20 to 40 miles an hour with a few higher gusts. me seven-day accu-weather forecast upper 70s in theexnext couple days but lower 70s on sundays turning cloudier.

other in new york. anna meiler is live at logan airport with the closer look at what happened. anna. >> reporter: and kate one of the families is speaking out demanding an explanation from the airline. you can imagine that mother's anxiety when she went to jfk to pick up her son and waited several hours before long he landed here at -- learning he landed here at logan. cell phone video shows andy martinez in the black hat passing through the august 17th. but when the plane he was supposed to be on landed at jfk in new york he was not on it. >> when i went to pick up my son, my son was not there. i was given another boy. >> reporter: a passport mix upsend andy to boston and another 5-year-old boy to jfk. >> i am told he is not there and say o. my god what did you d -- oh my god what did you do to him where is he.

trapped mosquitoes in miami beach and while not surprising it's disappointing. nearly 50 people in florida have caught the virus from mosquitoes. the cape canaveral launch pad war spacex rocket exploded yesterday is now off limits. crews are kept away until the fire is completely out. and it's safe to inspect. unmanned rocket was carrying 195 mill kwon dollar satellite that facebook hoped would provide internet service to africa. that explosion happened as the rocket was g prelaunch engine test. the good news is no one was injured. and an unusual sight in peabody a helicopter forced to make an emergency landing yesterday. the pilot touched down near the water treatment plant after reporting a mechanical problem. no injuries reported. the chopper will be removed today. incredible video of a great white shark off race point beach in provincetown last weekend. at one point the shark went

many weather watchers are in the 50s. dew points in the 50s as well. this is refreshing air unlike yesterday in what's pretty muggy out there. bordering on oppressive humidity yesterday. much the northeast is enjoying the beautiful weather. we will have highs of 75 to 78 today. maybe a touch cooler in the outer part of cape cod. now we are starting out with few scattered clouds and the sky will become probably more than 50% covered with clouds later on. someplace also have it completely. overall a very nice fabulous friday leading into the holiday weekend. tomorrow we will see high thin cloudiness coming up from the south but that won't make too much progress. we will see streamers and filaments of the feathery clouds showing up in the southern sky and moving north but they will dry out as they come up into central new england and northern new england will be bright and sunny. a great weekend. most of the weekend way up north for camping and hiking and climbing and that sort of

and see what is going to happen with the storm as it moves northeastward. it is a tropical storm now continuing to weaken a little bit as it moves off to the northeast. these are the rain bands associated. in some places 15 to 20 inches of rain down here with the system. so it weakens and moves on a path like this hugging the coast and then moving off the shore and getting trapped and not able to move. except wobble in place or do a few loops out in here so even the hurricane center per-hour wind still in the same spot so it's kicking up the seas. creating a lot of rain as it goes up the eastern seaboard. the question is how much rain could fall in new england. i hope we don't get shortchange and get nothing out of this but it look like we have to get spiral bands eventually pivoting in here. here's sunday's map as it becomes cloudier on sunday. the clouds will overspread the area. the rain will get close to southeastern massachusetts late
