going to start to pick up tomorrow evening on cape cod. the cape, the islands, this is where we have the highest impact, chance for over an inch of rain over boston. i'm not very optimistic because we need the rainfall in terms of our chances. wind gusts right now 35 to 55 miles an hour along the coast. typically that wouldn't cause a lot of damage but the tree easily broken. in south carolina it's been all about the rain and stronger winds at the coast this evening. the good news here, at least for south carolina, it's moving so fast, it will be gone by late tonight. in florida it came ashore. the first hurricane, almost 11 years in florida making rainfall. brought a lot of heavy rain and

cedar key, well north of tampa, one homeless man was killed when a tree fell on him there. heavy rain in the tampa area creating flash flooding on the streets there. some parts of florida left with nearly a foot of rainfall from the storm. we'll have more on the local impact with pam gardner tonight. >> our impact is going to be a little different compared to florida we are not anticipating the coastal flood concerns they have had to deal with, and not necessarily the widespread flooding risk either. but heavy rain, definitely the potential is there but rough seas and beach erosion will be the main threat as the storm impacts us sunday into monday.

hour from boston to worcester. this gets more serious south and east, 45 to 55-mile-an-hour gusts in the outer cape. as this tracks north and east, we're talking midweek now where we have days and days of this coming from the north and east. building surf is dangerous out there, 15 to 20-foot waves from time to time, and significant beach erosion as and east of us. around an inch of rain in south boston and lesser amounts to the north and west. we need the rain but this is not a drought buster. >> no, we were hoping for 2 to 4 inches to help us out, but at least some drought relief here. just relax and recharge for the holiday weekend, monday will

wife. the husband was taken to the hospital due to the stress. the accident reconstruction team is on the scene as well as the medical examiner. a family member off camera identified himself as a cousin. now neighbors say they are shocked. >> i walk down the street and saw there was a white sheet in front of the vehicle where the headlights are and it was on the i was thinking maybe that could be something or someone, but i did notice the stretcher was gone. >> reporter: police say it's believed to be an accident but the investigation continues. again, the woman is the driver's wife and she was killed in the driveway on phillips street. . another uber driver is under arrest.

passenger. police say he drove her to another location and sexually assaulted her. he said it was consensual, a romantic encounter. uber permanently removed him from the service and the company is cooperating with police in the investigation. this is the fifth uber driver arrested in our area since july. a second suspect is now under arrest in the murder of an east boston 18-year-old blanca lanez was found dead inside a garage and a 16-year-old has been charged in the case. a young mother is facing charges tonight because of this piece of video, a baby in a car seat in the backseat of this vehicle with no one else inside. the windows are open and the car is running. the stranger behind the camera confronted the mom when she

police. >> reporter: the video has been shared 17,000 times since yesterday and it's made its way to state and local police. as such, this young mother is facing charges. >> reporter: the video has been seen by three quarters of a million people. >> that is unacceptable. >> reporter: it's also made its way to state >> this young girl pulls up with her newborn in the car and leaves, leaves the baby in the car and goes into the store. >> reporter: the man who took the video did so because he couldn't believe what he was seeing, a young woman, seemingly abandoning her child while she runs an errand inside the convenience store.

endangerment for allegedly leaving her child alone for three minutes. >> are you allowed to videotape me? i'm pretty sure you have to ask me. >> i don't have to ask you. [? expletive ?] . >> reporter: the gentleman who took that comment. state police tweeted out there picture today of a truck that was too tall for the north harvard bridge. another truck driver overestimated how much clearance there was. in this case you can see the top of the truck ripped off.

in the north it's been a gorgeous day. you can see the cirrus clouds in the sky overhead this evening, a warning the weather is about to change for us. in terms of temperatures, 70s and 60s in boston and chatham right now. the ocean temp 67, about as cool as we'll look for highs over the weekend. tonight mainly clear, calm a nice comfortable evening if you're getting ready for camping, starting off the holiday weekend. tomorrow we're in the 70s and we have gray skies toward the coast. the winds will increase heading into the afternoon and evening in response to that storm

your brightest skies are more toward the seacoast and getting up to coastal maine tomorrow. as we look into sunday, that cloud cover will start to thicken. to the north, it could still be a bright, beautiful day. then we head into sunday afternoon, where the rain bands start to approach. a chance of rain is increasing as we head into sunday night, then the wettwe drifts up the coastline with the highest impact in the mid- atlantic. looking at the cape and the islands, a dry day with thickening clouds. sunday the winds really pick up, especially in the evening, and ferry disruption looks really likely here. big waves, over 15 feet heading into monday and tuesday.

a great saturday and a nice sunday. monday we have a chance of showers but rain will be limited heading into new hampshire, vermont and maine from this system. through the week, we go into monday and tuesday and wednesday and thursday. see the low just moving a little bit each day. with that in mind, you have a long time to build up the ocean. the calling card will be strong gusty winds late sunday, monday the coastline. looking toward wednesday and thursday, this will move offshore. winds even over 35 miles an hour could bring down trees. they are all so weak from the drought, so keep that in mind. there could be scattered outages because of this. now back to you. thank you. rob ninkovich is out for four
