heavy rain and strong winds are headed for the next several days. tropical storm hermine will show up in the midst of our holiday weekend. this is a live look at the radar. parts of massachusetts including the cape are under a tropical storm watch. this is a live look conditions tonight. that area can expect high seas and rough surf. two deaths are blamed on tropical storm coming. good evening everyone. >> we have team coverage of what is headed our way. we start with pamela gardner. >> we will hear the -- feel the effects late sunday into tuesday and we have a couple of

tuesday. that becomes more uncertain. we are expecting some erosions as we get into labor day weekend. the best rain chances will be in southeastern massachusetts. that matches with what we have been taking the last couple of days. not a lot of rain in northwest areas. gusty winds sunday into tuesday 35 to 55 miles per hour. here is post tropical cyclone remained. it is still very powerful. it has its kind of meandering off the coast of the jersey shore and by sunday night. as it continues to push northward

that is wednesday so we are still going to feel the effects of it here. tropical storm warnings were posted and we have a tropical storm watch from cape cod the island to the south coast. as we anticipate the winds to gusts between 35 and 55 miles per hour. we get into late sunday, monday and tuesday. the wind gusts especially the further south you go. even the tip of the south coast and perhaps the outer cape. but not as much. most of the rain will be to the south and east. not a drought buster, but we will take anything we can get. the coastal impact will last through wednesday as this spends offshore and we will have onshore wind flow. that will build the surf and significant beach erosion as we get into midweek. past midweek the storm does move out and when it does we

after that announcement lifeguards locked the gate to seaside heights. closing down the beaches. more than 24 hours before hermine arrived. double red flags were posted warning of the danger. >> about 60 mile an hour winds and high waves. this is just one big washing machine. >> reporter: clouds did not keep people away from the boardwalk. dan brought his family pennsylvania. >> we didn't think it would be this bad with the waves being this tall and i would imagine the undertow would take you right out.>> reporter: there is concern here this is the same town where sandy talked a roller coaster into the ocean in 2012. hermine is not anywhere near that severity, but it could stick around for a couple of days intensifying, possible

>> our weather team will be following this around-the-clock. a child died at the lancaster fair and new hampshire. she was thrown from a horse during a horse show. it happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. she was hospitalized, but died today. a two-year-old girl fell into a fire pit suffering second and third degree burns. officials say it happened at a birthday party tonight. general and taken to shriners hospital she is in stable condition. a search is underway right now for a man who police say injured a juvenile and a woman. police say they responded to a call last night. they found a juvenile with a wound on his arm and and injured female. a were looking for this man, 42- year-old brent young. police say the suspect has a self-inflicted wound on his

first wave heights because we're anticipating some big waves out there and the water is turning out. 16 foot waves according to off the shore. as we get toward new england we are okay, the waves are not too bad one to 2 feet. violent action will move our way in the next 24 hours. sea surface temperatures this is something we look at. typically it is a factor. it plays a big role and what kind of intensification we can see. where we see the rest here off the jersey shore and long island , temperatures and the sea surface in the 80s so we could see the storm feet off the warm waters and intensify. forecast models putting it with 75 mile-per-hour winds. that means hurricane like characteristics. monday night is still hurricane
