>>reporter:police spent the day at the home, some of them in protective suits. there were scorch marks near one of the windows. daniel says there had been problems with a furnace in the past. he also says joann, had a male roommate, at one point. authorities are conducting an autopsy. beyond that, there is not much information. >> i am trying to continue on with life, like it always has been, but it is not the same. it will never be the same again. >>reporter: ago, the body was removed from this house and brought to the state medical examiner's office, for that autopsy. live in danville, new hampshire tonight, jim smith, wbz news. an investigation tonight in weston into a fake snapshot account. police say that someone is using that account to try to get high school boys to share compromising pictures. cool officials say the person behind the account is specifically targeting sophomore boys. now, they are trying to figure

a troubling situation, is under investigation tonight, and providence were a young woman from massachusetts claims she was drugged at a club and then sexually assaulted. evidence police say the 23-year- old woman, from lawrence, took a party bus to club ultra in downtown providence, over the weekend. she told police she remembers having one drink, and then waking up the next morning half naked, and a stranger's car, miles away. police say they are speaking with several people of interest. they are waiting fhe . this is a reminder, though they say, to be especially careful. >> i tell my daughter, who is 19, in college, only take -- never take a drink that is open. if anyone has it to you, do not take it. you have to be careful. this is the day and age where you have to really understand what could happen to you, and really take precautions.

problems, other than occasional sightings. 2 witnesses say they saw a man drive down that path right there, over this deck right here, and then down into the cape cod canal, 40 feet below, and tonight police are telling us that he did this on purpose. christina hager is life with the details. >>reporter: acting strange before this happened, getting out of his car by an old bridge embankments, looking around, and then getting back in his car and speeding. a faint white spot in the middle of the cape cod canal. that was the view, from this scenic overlook where earlier, a ford focus took flight and plunged in. >> i have never seen anything like this in my life. it was like watching a movie. >>reporter:cell phone video

say he took that drive, intentionally. >> he cleared the road and then hit the grass and bounced off the grass in the water. >> about 35 feet above the canal service road, the vehicle did end up in the water. it struck power lines, in the air, and caused some damage to the vehicle and brought some power lines down. >>reporter:those powerlines went down on the service road and in the water. witnesses yelling to passersby, to watch out. they exploded, and you know, it looked like it was fire. just a big bang. >>reporter:the driver pulled out, and a stretcher, surprisingly unscathed. his car was another story. and a challenge to fish out. >> we are very fortunate that he survived, and it was in a busy saturday or sunday where we have countless visitors walking and biking the canal. >>reporter:fortunately, he was alone in the car, and had only

driving dangerous and speeding and destruction of property. christina hager, wbz news. the battle over body cameras here in boston moved into the courtroom today. austin police commissioner took the stand, under oath, in support of his decision to force police officers to wear body cameras, and a six-month test pam this. the union says this was always supposed to be a voluntary process. no decision yet, this hearing continues tomorrow. framingham state university has just fired a police officer who is accused of exposing himself to a student. walter faced a judge on lewdness ,-- conduct. he exposed himself to a student that was working at the campus police station. the victim says right after the incident, he actually a pologized. tonight he is free on bail, but late this afternoon they

a 21-year-old quincy woman is accused of being drunk when she slammed into a state police cruiser overnight on i 93. authorities say lila reed hit the cruiser, which was pulled over for an accident just south of mass avenue. the trooper was taken to the hospital and was later released. meantime her license has been suspended she will be in court tomorrow. the latest on hermine, this -- the storm is spinning off our coast and not moving out anytime soon. the worst of it though is over. again today we got hit with some rain, winds and the serve is communities. i want to check in with our chief meteorologist, eric fisher keeping an eye on all of this. a similar scene tomorrow? >> good news is hermine is weakening, bad news that is moving slowly. 2o'clock this afternoon this is the last advisory of the hurricane center -- the hurricane center is going to issue. it does weaken over time. it is still spinning and bringing rain to coastal parts of new jersey, long island and here to -- here into southern

live doppler radar, a little closer view, steadiest drizzle and heavier showers in southeastern massachusetts. heading over into rhode island also. we will see scattered showers throughout the overnight, a little bit of mist and temperatures holding steady in the 60s. surf starting to go down a little bit. wave heights decreasing on the coastal waters. all resuming today. block island, martha's vineyard and nantucket, that is a good thing. chance for a few of the showers on some drizzle, a muggy feel to the air. the storm is holding a lot of heat, at bay. all to our west. temperatures in the 80s and 90s, that is in our forecast for the second half of the week. for the very first time now, since his victim came forward, oh one's attorneys are talking about the case and what that young lady had to say, when she revealed her identity about a week ago. paula evans is here with more on that tonight. >>reporter:attorneys appeared

during interview on today show last week. she did not want to go to trial and that she would have moved on if only she had received an apology letter. alan's attorney said today no one even presented that option. also insisted owen knew what he was doing, when she says he raped her at st. paul's school in new hampshire. i was at -- said this is not what the jury found. owen was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault and using a computer to lower his victim for sex. that means he must register as a sex offender for life. he was sentenced to a year in jail, but acquitted of the rate charges. today, his attorneys were asked and he learned his lesson? >> i certainly think he has learned from this ordeal. you know, he went to an encounter with this girl who was 15, i think if he could do it over again he would not go to the encounter with her.

the school abruptly shut down, all of its campuses, and apparently for good. >> thousands of students all across the country, and of course here in new england, are wondering what they will do next. what happen? >> this comes after the us department of education band itt tech from enrolling new students to use financially. the company operated vocational schools and announced today it is closing or than 130 campuses across 38 states. that includes the two massachusetts cameron campuses. 35,000 students, 8000 workers, are now out of a school or job respectively. the school was sanctioned by the federal government, in august, after the government found evidence that itt failed to meet several basic standards and was under investigation for its recruiting and accounting practices. nasa two sets, by the way, sued itt tech back in april for what it called harassing sales tactics and misleading students about the quality of one of its programs. >> our investigation, our

continue. you want to hold this entity accountable, because again this is an entity for years marketed here, specifically at its campuses in norwood and wilmington. a program that reported to offer computer technology training, that instead, was programmed where students were basically placed in big box stores to sell computers. >> attorney general urged students today to cancel all payments to itt te all of their paperwork related to the school. the department of education saying current students could have their loan debt forgiven, and that it will help students transfer credits to other schools. >> feel bad for the students and employees. drivers get to weigh in on a plan to convert all electronic towing on the mass pike. some commuters to pay more, and others to pay less depending on their route. and, whether or not they have an easy pass. it is the first in the series of meetings before mass dot

deflategate and hermine. >> things that will not go away. >> let's talk about warmer weather coming on friday. >> it me 60 seconds to talk about hermine first, that we will move on to summer weather. one of the things we do want to talk about, some rainfall, beneficial rain coming out of all of this. an inch over nantucket, .75 inches in harwich, some rain is better than no rain. abington about .50 inches, same thing in taunton, was minister getting about .33 inches of rainfall and about .25 inches and salsberry. at least getting something out of this, it is a taunting system as it is moving slowly, dumping of inch -- dumping inches of rainfall over the ocean, so the fishes are enjoying it. we do have some areas of

off the ocean. still some scattered drizzle, some showers, not major rainfall. but at least something. before you leave the house have an umbrella handy. the main impact as hermine winds down is going to be rough seas and beach erosion as that winds continues to be on shore and spins off to our self. upper 60s to low 70s. just across the border into new york. that is where the 80s are, even some '90s after the west. that summer heat will move back and as we look toward the end of this week. in the short term, mostly cloudy skies, chance for drizzle, lighter showers. temperatures in the 60s, there is a muggy feel. it will be muggy again tomorrow. tomorrow is a lot like today. more clouds than sun, some intervals of sun are going to mix in. it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what town those areas of sunshine will develop over. we will have a couple of scattered showers, some areas of drizzle and temperatures will find spots in the 70s for

gusts over 20 miles per hour longish open -- sure. -- over sure. it moves offshore on thursday, and then another front moves through here thursday night into friday. and without a chance of a couple of showers, not expecting a lot. the biggest thing here, will be a wind shift more to the west and that will bring in some drier air after a very humid thursday. well into the 80s away from the immediate shoreline. our next front approaches as we head into sunday. with that, a chance for a few more showers and thunderstorms. we have a couple of opportunities for a little bit

not a lot of wide spread of soaking rainfall which is what we need. average high in boston, this time of year 76. tomorrow is a typical day, think about fall as we had closer to mid-november. 80s to around 90 degrees right on through the weekend, not a lot of that dry characteristic fall air that you would expect. the only driest day is going to be saturday. friday evening will be dry, as well. muggy tomorrow, humid on thursday, humid again as we look toward sunday along with a chance of showers and storms. accuweather seven-day, it is a warm stretch for us after tomorrow. hermine we do not have to talk about it after tomorrow. a preview of next week it looks bright, sunny and warm for monday and tuesday. back to you. some students at bridgewater state university are giving police a heads up at the start of the school year. bridgewater police tweeted out these pictures, a sign in front of one home that says "that is
