also breaking tonight some new video of a hit-and-run near the campus. police are hoping that the piece of video -- not this piece of video, this is from the newton story we did a moment ago. this piece of video they have now, they are hope willing lead to some information about the driver that hit a woman that was crossing the street. the driver took off. police tell us they are searching for the silver sedan possibly gray. most likely it has front end damage. we hope you. we can tell you the victim is out of the hospital. three firefighters are recovering after getting hurt at this house fire. the flames broke out at a historic building. crews from neighboring towns joined the effort here and they battled hot spots for most of the afternoon. >> tonight police say it does appear that a boston university student was hit and killed by a train. >> but not the commuter rail

stranding passengers. beth is live in boston tonight with the latest on this story. beth. >> well investigators are trying to determine how the student was able too access those tracks at the end of this road beneath the turnpike and which train actually struck him. >> it is a tragedy that has hit boston university a few days into the school year. the body of a 17-year-old fran rail tracks near campus. investigators trying to figure out why he was crossing the tracks late last night when he was struck by a train. >> preliminary investigation suggest this is is a tragic horrendous accident. >> witnessed by students from their dorm rooms who looked out and knew something was wrong >> i looked out the window and saw dozens of police on the train tracks searching with flashlights. we saw a body out there. >> they say the international

didn't realize it. the body was then discovered by a rail worker. >> then a couple of minutes went by. the explanation was a medical emergency and then more time. >> time passed for some 30 passengers detained for three hours while the investigation continued. >> wondering why they are not for all the people. >> if it comes down that it was -- a decision made by the transit police and -- we are responsible that, we own. >> it right now police and bu are trying to notify the victim's family and reassure students. >> we were -- excited about our first day of classes and then to go to bed with those images and thoughts in our head was tough. >> police say they have actually had some difficulty notifying the student's parents in china

police cruiser early yesterday morning faced a judge today. he has been ordered not to drink alcohol or drive. the state trooper is out of the hospital tonight we now know what caused an explosion that killed a couple inside their condo in franklin last fall. the state fire marshal said a propane leak is to blame. that accident destroyed three units. the victim sadly had just moved to franklin their grandkids. the boston police body camera battle should come to an end on friday. a hearing on the issue wrapped up early this morning. they . --. three maine lawmakers think they found a way to force governor paul to leave office

with a twist. >> it is a good investigation. you are not -- you are looking for a happy outcome. >> the painting was found here at the photography studio. >> that is the old negative. >> there was also a black and white photo used as a model for the painting and an envelope that doubles as a receipt. the portrait was done in a cost of $125. >> it even has instructions for colors. >> it is a dictated -- the badges and the buttons will be gold. the hat was to be white. the jacket was to be blue. >> he is intrigued by the mystery. he believes this police lieutenant is wearing a uniform from the 20s or 30s. >> that is an old era uniform.

portrait? or was the officer killed in the line of duty? questions but no answers. >> i mean it is very impressive work. you look at -- the painting off that photo. the detail is -- outstanding. down to -- the hat -- actually a little crooked on his head. >> they want to make all this public. they are hoping that somebody will recognize that picture -- that portrait and eventually will that man's family. >> the work is outstanding. someone will see the story and will come forward. >> that was kind of lot of money to pay for a painting in 1964. it was clearly someone of providence. we will let you know if that mystery is solved. all right. let's talk to eric now about the weather.

it is not exactly hot outside but it is very humid. you can kind of feel the ocean. hermine's remnants will bring showers through thursday morning and then finally will have to -- we won't have to talk about it for another six years. 90 degrees to end the week on friday. the drought is unfortunately worsening. you look at the map and this will be updated tomorrow morning. it h morning. the extreme drought area here -- there is a chance even with some of the rain we have seen that this could expand a little bit more. still rotating a few showers. carver reaching over to there a couple of rain drops. you could see a few rainbows. if you take any pictures feel free to send them my way.

just to the west all of the heat. for tonight mostly cloudy. the clouds will fill in overtime. chance for a scattered shower will hold in the 60s. it will be very humid. tomorrow another very humid day. not let of wind. it will feel rather steamy. tomorrow morning there is a chance for heal bit of drizzle and a couple of showers. we head towards midday and into the afternoon, the skies start to brighten. we will get more sunshine from west t jump into the 80s. 80s and humid in september. going for a high of 87 in pittsburgh. 70s to around 80 right along the coastline. tomorrow morning the system moves right up over this area. it will bring a couple of showers. then tomorrow night a chance for a few more rain showers and downpours. hopefully you will be able to
