live from the channel 4 studios in boston, this is wbz news at noon. >> breaking news boston police officers will be wearing body cameras i am kate merrill. >> i am ken macleod the judge denied a request by th union to nix the program before it got started. >> reporter: this noon the judge made the final ruling and it's in favor of the body camera pilot program which means the boston police department will have to stick with what the mayor says was in the already negotiated contract. the issue made its way to court once the police union called a breach of agreementch the mayor asked for 100 officers to volunteer to wear the cameras for this pilot program but no

and officers were going to be chosen at random. that's when the union filletedinjunction which -- filed the i junction which led to the -- injunction which led to the decision released. in a 19 page document receipting in part the commissioners' statute encompasses from an assignment from voluntary to mandatory status. prior to the ruling 8 members of the force did step volunteer. chief william grows. gross was in the number -- gross was in the number along with 7 others. here's what the mayor said yesterday about the decision to step up. >> that's in respond to -- response to showing people the command staff is willing to do this and it's big statement they are making. they are out with the public a lot interacting with the community and i think they put the stake in the ground we are committed to the program.

wbz news. other news now three state troopers are off the job and under investigation in a weapons scandal. breana pitts has the latest on that breana. >> reporter: state police say the three troopers are upped investigation for -- under investigation for transferring surplus weapons. they were stationed at the state police armory and it's on the same grounds as the state police academy. the armory maintains and supplies the weapons for state police force. the attorney general's office will handle the investigation and determine what if anything was exchanged for the weapons. the troop verse been suspended -- troopers have been suspend without pay. >> thanks. north korea admission to testing yet another nuclear bomb is drawing criticism even from the biggest ally china. it's the 5th such test the second this year north korea works on a lighter more powerful warhead to mount on a

condemn the government saying that the u.s. will never accept north korea as nuclear power. the underground blast shook country with the force of a magnitude 5.3 earthquake. new hampshire sex offender is arrested for exposing himself to young girls near lexington high school. jacob mobly hall was on a walking path near the school but not on the grounds. he he admitted to hanging out in the area on both thursday and wednesday. court is hearing arguments in the case that changed stocking -- stalking laws. stephen caruso is asking for a new trial he was convicted in the murder of sandra bearfield of effort after stocking her for months he delivered a package bomb to her doorstep that killed her e says he is innocent and she could never get a restraining order against him because he was not a family member spouse or boyfriend. that law was changed after her death.

granted sean ellis a new trial e spent 20 years for the murder of boston police officer john mulligan in 1993. ellis was released from jail when the conviction was overturned last year after a judge ruled three corrupt detectives covered up evidence. prosecutors wanted the conviction reinstated and instead ellis will stand trial again. today police are investigating a deadly sh they found a 21-year-old man that was shot several times who died at the hospital another man was shot in the leg but is expected to survive. we return to the summer heat and the sun shining brightly over boston right now and humidity is back so what's ahead for the weekend. let's get over to danielle niles for the forecast night not going to be ooze hot but hugh -- to be as hot but humidity will stick around. we are warming.

sticky. the wind is out of the west at 7 miles per hour right now. so that wind is started to shift around 82 in worcester. 87 in manchester and most of us running in the middle to even upper 80s and a few more degrees by the time the day is done. a couple showers and sprinkles early they are morning and a touch of fog, but that's gone. the clearing has come in and we will see a blend of sun and clouds. temperatures in the upper 80s and we should hit 90 in a couple of spots by the time th afternoon is done. if you have evening plans tonight, only gradually cruising back to lower 80s. what about the the weekend? 81 with a chance of a shower tomorrow. it's not going to be a picture perfect weekend. no washouts. mid-80s on sunday and again with a passing shower.

two high school football teams putting their rivalry aside for something much more important. >> at the season opener for auburn and leicester the two came together to honor family of slain officer ron tarentino and there was one surprise that the family never expected. >> reporter: as the auburn and leicester football teams took the field the motivation was different for this game. tarentino family was on the ofslain officer ron tarn teen heo stood in front -- tarentino stood in front. officer tarentino was shot and killed in the line of duty in may. his murderer was killed in a police stand off. tarentino had served in leicester where his family lives. >> the hearts of the people that you know people just gave tirelessly of themselves. just to honor ron. >> reporter: the two communities renamed the season opener the top cop game. >> there is not a person in the

>> it feels sticky like we are in mid-july even though it's beginning of september. it's going to stick around, the humidity this weekend and it will drop on sunday so not a picture perfect weekend. we will track a couple rain showers but no washout and that's good news i think all outdoor plans are good to go you may want the umbrella or raincoat on stand by. live look at boston where the sun is now out. had the morning clouds and even a couple sprinkles now we are heating things up temperature wise out there. a few shower chances but again no washou less humid air returns by sunday late in the the day when you will feel the difference and it's going to stay low a lot of next week too and in fact a feel of fall comes into the picture by the end of next week. low dew points crisp fall air and high temperatures only in the upper 60s to low 70s for some of us as we get into the end of the week. right now, no 60s and 70s. we are talk 87 in boston lawrence and nashua. 88 in concord.

marshfield and 89 in new bedford and well into the 80s on cape cod. 75 on nantucket. we will gain a few more degrees before the afternoon is done hitting 90 in boston by 2 or 3:00. again the skies clearing out. there's a couple showers back across pennsylvania. see the motion of them west to east. we may get a quick sprinkle along the south coast of connecticut and redeyeland, otherwise we are -- rhode island. otherwise we are a little uncota overnight low around 70 and there may be a spotty shower or two. i don't want to -- tomorrow won't be as hot. 70s for highs at the coast. a few spots through the interior should touch the low 80s and it's going to be a warm front lifting northward tomorrow. so don't expect a ton of sunshine and i think it will take a little bit of time before we can break the sunshine out and slowly allow the temperatures to rise tomorrow. 80s on sunday. the wind shifts around. what about the wet weather?

of connecticut. through the evening, may skirt the southern bristol county during the overnight period tonight with a brief downpour on cape cod. otherwise here's the thing, tomorrow, a lot of clouds around. some peeks of sunshine here or there and most of the day is dry but notice north and west of boston, there may be a shower or brief downpour that comes in again not raining the entire day but we will keep the risk in that's where it's greatest during afternoon and early evening tomorrow. what about saturday night? looking mainly dry. if you have morning should start dry but then a cold front comes in and there's going to be almost a thin band of showers that arrive from west to east during the late morning and early afternoon. so here's the map at 2:30, south shore to the cape and check it out clearing comes in quickly and going to be bright beautiful sunshine to kick off next week. speaking of the weekend we have so many events going on. this is just a handful. we have the music fest and

every time a new charter school opens in massachusetts, it takes funding away from regular public schools in that area. this year alone, charter schools will take more than 400 million dollars away from neighborhood public schools. that's not right. instead of draining even more money from neighborhood public schools and giving it to charters, to all of our students... not just a select few. don't lift the cap on charter schools.
